Man… I started with irons for over a decade. I ran my first three classes at Sig with them and thought I was doing well. I recently caved to the dot and ran it at Sig Handgun 104… holy wow! Once the instructor explained to me the difference… night and day. Red dots are the NOW! Never going back. Red dot the world! Love red dots. Love the Sig Academy more!

The added cost of the "red / green dot" is a factor apparently ignored, but the fact of the matter is: *the majority of Americans are working middle-class.* Take *THAT* into account. Most electronic optics are expensive, unaffordable, albeit, recently some companies are offering good quality optics at affordable fair prices.

most red dots that are worth putting on top of a pistol slide aren't going to be cheap. Yes the Holosuns and others have been driving costs down, but when you look at R&D dollars pumped into this tech, they are all pretty affordable considering what they actually are. Hopefully with more and more people getting into the RDS, the costs will continue to drop.

@@prestigeworldwideindustrie2845 the prices on electronic optics are coming by sheer competition and rival technology. In fact, little by little the big names are coming down a bit on their high prices, due to the reality that most people cannot afford around $500 dollars for RDO. The optic costs as much as many quality handguns!

The one problem with red dot sights is: If you have had cataract surgery and the lenses were replaced with a lens that has groves for near and far distance it creates a spider web effect with the red dot. The same when driving at night and looking at stop lights. Takes some brain training to use the sight.
