This might be late but it's funny how you can also use the Katana to hit fences during boss fights and you'd lifesteal out of it.

I enjoy using the shotgun/Gatling gun, but the ninja star got me farther in the game. I was always curious about oh well the sword worked

The katana is sorely underrated. I was stuck on chapter 16 as a f2p player using a purple kunai, unlocked a purple katana and tried it out and beat the chapter first try because you can reliably create gaps to escape mobs and run away from elites

You should definitely use it in chapter 20, because it's a real difficulty spike. (Well, at least that's the one skill that helped me beat Ch.20, but it's your choice.)

it is useful when you're using kunai (90% of the time) and become useless when you're using lightchaser, because lightchaser does guardian job with higher damage.

Depends on the user imo. I personally use it in any chapter with big swarms like bears and fire-breathing lizards. Some people may not find the knockback effect like I do, though.
