The Red Mahseer | Most Expensive Fish in Asia 

I am one of the TV anglers who was on the Benson & Hedges Golden Dream to fish for the Giant Golden Mahseer in India 24 years ago. Empurau, Kelah and Mahseer are the same species, but named differently by the geography. India don't use Malay words like Kelah or Empurau so they called it Mahseer. The fish colour can be red, Golden, green or black; depending on its location it lives in to camouflage around its surrounding. A fantastic fish to pursue. This fish is not expensive in India, Pakistan or Himalaya side. Not a favourite to eat there because of the Y bones. It is expensive here because the restaurants and how marketing made it to be. You also noticed from your own videos that there are no or not many fruit trees by the banks so we can dispel that they eat fruits. Most of the river fish there would eat fruits if dropped in the river, not only Mahseer.

No money can pay for this kind of Empurau experience! Absolutely the best!

Dikampung saya long tuyo', kecamatan long pahangai, kabupaten mahakam ulu sering fishing man dari singapura datang mancing. Kalau airnya jernih di sungai Nyaan anda akan strike sepanjang hari ikan masher, bahkan ada yg sebesar bantal tidur.👍

We have silver, chocolate and golden mahseer in my area. Never seen this red mahseer. Such a beautiful fish.

The fish caugt in Boneo is very looks very beautiful & well done.Here in my country this fish was introduced 25 years in to our rivers & dams brought from Nepal & later from India & put in to our dams ( Hydro genaration resoyoers ) which are massive & very deep some are more than 300 hundred feet.We have 33 main rivers & 10 resoyoers as most of Electricity is from dams. I too am a ardent Angler & been fishing from a very young age 7 years or so.But have hooked only 6 masheer & landed only two but they were one 11 kgs & other was 38 kgs.which considered almost full grown, this fish took over 1/35 hrs as they run deep towards tree stups & are very hard fighting & also tend come to surface & do tail walking & hit water a splash it mostly gets unhooked then & loose fish if to much slack is given.But we dont have the Red masheer & here its silver & light variety. I really enjoyed the video & well done son (I use mostly Ambassador 10000C L & Peen 4 as duval purpose, Sea fishing) will wathch more of your videos.Regds.

It's called Golden Mahseer. Yes it is very tasty.

The fish is known as the Copper Mahseer commonly found in the North Eastern Himalayan states and South East Asia
