That's so nice to see how some great directors do other great directors justice. Thanks to Scorsese we can enjoy nowadays The Red Shoes and Peeping Tom by Powell.
If it hadn't been for the great Marty Scorsese, it's just possible that we wouldn't be able to appreciate the Powell and Pressburger magic today. God bless him !
Very Moving. Ordinarily I am critical of the “can do” American exceptionalism that has resulted in Hollywood interference in other national film cultures. However the digital restoration of this and other Powell and Pressburger films is to be congratulated. The digital restoration and remastering of any film is a labour of love. The restoration of the The Red Shoes was less to do with anticipating high financial returns than honouring another nation’s great film-makers.
I think anyone who has any creative ambitions or obsesses over their creative efforts in any medium will ultimately resonate with this film. I truly hate at times how I simply cannot be in the moment or prioritise other life commitments due to my obessions with my creative/artisitc output.
I know exactly what you mean. It's not like we enjoy a blurred print , ofcourse we love the perfect one. But we're fond of the blurred ones because that's how we've actually seen the picture for the first time and it goes way back. Nostalgic Rusted Trophies 😋😋
I am intrigued that Scorsese loves this film, since he has never made a ballet film in his life, as far as I know. It came as such as surprise, when I learned this.
I have seen several Technicolor films, but not this one, projected from original nitrate prints by carbon arc. They had a certain look which Easrmancolor prints could not quite reproduce. I recently saw The Red Shoes projected from a DCP, and it came closer to the original Technicolor look than other restorations that I have seen.
showbiz audio visual medium has delighted audiences kept them hooked entertained amidst really strange conditions like lockdowns and others somebody sick in bed can either read or watch television or monitor for whatever is out there now in various forms of fares, documentary, news movies series... all of it informative bringing world to you.. a complex expensive complicated process in which not always wealth got made, the golden times ones, yet the voice to correct world's systems, its crooks ways, mocking it over and over again never went away.
I really hope someone does this with Dersu Uzala. One of Kurosawa’s most beautiful films, not only visually but definitely visually. The available versions have lots of colour breathing etc tho
marvelous! and this is what i mean the serious in business people rather then the image of drug substance abuse free sex exploitations environment which plagues this industry, not even given Industry recognition so it can demand those perks, the only industry which help people engage their attention when nothing else can, in every diversity.
