Family friendly video i made about the Khmer Rouge I think we all know the song: • Pol Pot tribute Also i have a discord server / discord My subreddit: / icariaball
The Vietnamese made it clear that they didn’t want to be seen as liberators , they invaded bc the Khmer Rouge was also coming to their borders and massacring But yea the international reaction was so fucked up , Vietnam shouldn’t have been made to be the villain 🙄🙄🙄
The fact that a communist state had to do an armed intervention against a fellow communist state and instead of stiff resistance, they marched into terrified and starved people, who immediately hailed them as liberators, shows how horrific Pol Pot’s regime was.
There's not really an ideological idiosyncrasy here, this was after the Sino-Soviet split (due to which China and the USSR and each of their respective allies tended to back opposite sides in conflicts around the world, like in Afghanistan and Angola). Cambodia was Chinese-aligned and backed by the West, Vietnam was Soviet-aligned.
I'd also like to say that Pol pots communism was quite different from most other communist ideologues. For starters, most communists worship industrialisation, Pol pot did not, he liked the idea of mass agriculture to make the country more self sufficient (this is stupid btw) at the expense of industry. This is also one of the reasons he killed intellectuals, because they also like industrialisation. Pol pot was such a horrific ruler that I can't even compare him and his regime to any real people or countries in our history, the likes of Hitler's Germany, Stalin's USSR and even Mao's China pale in comparison. The only good comparisons I can give are to fictionally exaggerated nations like Himmler's Burgundy or the Holy Russian Empire of Sergius von Taboritskiy (TNO: The new order) where in the former, every single member of the society was enslaved and worked almost to death and in the latter, toxic corrosive gas was used on dissenters to melt their flesh into sludge.
@@moritamikamikara3879 Pol Pot can be called the most evil man ever existed. I mean at least Hitler has a reason (although a very shitty one) Pol Pot just kills everybody just because he can and he enjoys doing that
Pol pot: Let's genocide everyone without any reason. Pol pot's allies: I agree let's just genocide everyone! Pol pot: Oh! I mean everyone including you.
The last part is very accurate, because their leader Pol Pot spoke French, grew up in a Buddhist family, was from the bourgeoisie and even wore glasses. The Khmer Rouge realised how hypocrite they were.
Still kinda blows my mind that most of the KR's murders were done with axe handles or whatever else was on hand to save ammo. They basically just killed hundreds of thousands of people with wooden sticks and plastic bags.
This smooth and cute animation really sums up the grim Cambodian genocide in just 1 minute and 16 seconds. Cambodian Executioners would kill anyone that was suspected of working for the former Cambodian government or working for some other foreign government (people who were Chinese, Vietnamese, Cham Muslims). They would also kill anyone who is or looks smart (that includes anyone who wears glasses). And anyone related to those people would also be executed to prevent them from seeking vengeance. Babies who were related to the victims would be bashed against a tree and then their corpse would be thrown into a pit. And while they were being executed, their executioners would play loud music to cover up the screams and cries of those who were being killed.
0:16 You can actually see right when Khmer Rouge shoots that Cambodian, the French ball actually starts moving to try to get away but is too late. I had to go at look at it multiple times to see that, very nice detail.
not-so-fun fact: The Khmer Rouge killed a 4/10 of Kampuchea population, and after they were done with that, they invaded Vietnam and massacred a few civilians, and by few, I mean a few THOUSAND.
We should also not forget about how China supported the Khmer Rouge and invaded Vietnam for it. USA and UK are still to be blame since Pol Pot escaped from his crimes from their help.
For some reason, watching this animation makes me feel sadder than anything I've ever seen or realised, even though its just an animation. I hope RU-vid doesn't remove it though.
@@sirrex240I don't know why but I found the way they kill the Vietnam ball hilarious. Wonder if the Americans ever thought of that. 0:28 What I do to Harry Potter Cosplayers.
Half my family was murdered… the kids in my old neighborhood were scared of my grandma bc she lived with me and she got a cross partially blind eye from this when she was like around 12 or sm. They would always be like ‘she’s so scary!’ And ‘she looks so weird!’ But she actually a very sweet old lady.
This might just genuinely be the best countryball video I've ever seen. STOPGAP was great, WW2 on meth was really good, But this, This is on a whole mother level. This perfectly describes the reign of terror of the Khmer rouge. Its been truly amazing watching you grow From just under 200 subscribers all the way up to almost 150 thousand subscribers. Your never gonna see my comment but thank you. You are the person that got me into countryballs.
Inaccurate. You forgot the part when Vietnam finally became GigaChad again (as he always was), kick Khmer Rouge out of existence, and adopting the little last cambodianball.
this was very brutal, and yet so true! the khmer rouge was one of the most evil factions in cambodia and they committed horrible attrocities in the name of their ''leader''... pol pot was extremely evil, and to make things worse, while he banned buddhism, he banned french people, he banned people who wore glasses or people with a higher education, and yet, pol pot spoke French, grew up in a Buddhist family, was from the bourgeoisie and even wore glasses. he was a monster and a hypocrite, in one combo. excellent animation, im an old time fan, my friend : keep making epic countryball videos!
@@cosmicball1670 actually, he died peacefully in 1999 because superpowers (US & China) didnt recognize the vietnamese puppet government, so they recognize the long gone khmer as legitimate. as a result, pol pot wasnt trialed.
I doubt Vietnam did it out of the goodness of their hearts (turning Cambodia into a client state suggests otherwise), but they were the only ones who were willing to put an end to the madness.
@@frostyguy1989 yup geopolitics definitely had a significant impact in Vietnam's decision. But they were 1000% better than the west and China who were giving moral lessons while supporting Khmer Rouge at the back thru Thailand (Looking at you USA)
@@Drewman56 Elaborate please? I've stayed there for a year and can defintely say that whatever 'brutalize' you mention cannot surpass the 'brutalize' level in Western nation like the US
“Mother’s tenderness toward my younger sisters caused more tears to pool in my eyes. I felt too old to be hugged and caressed by her, yet my body yearned for her touch; at least this once. I couldn't recall the last time she had shared the same warmth with me. The countless months of hardship had created an ocean of distance between us. It would be too awkward to hug her now. I sat across from her with tear-stained cheeks, wondering if she could feel my sadness and if she knew I loved her unconditionally.” ― Jennifer H.
This is the best countryball animation i ever saw in my live pls continue with shocking/disturbing animations with gore too it just gets perfect this is a piece of art
Thank you IcariaBall, for giving the internet/ thePolPotFandom a good slap of sense, displaying the horrific, evils of the Khymer Rouge. That little Cambodian Baby countryball looking up with hope and innocence into the eyes of the cold, merciless khymer rouge before meeting death made me want to cry. People need to know reality not fantasy...
as a vietnamese, we can confirm that we have a locker full of skulls to represent the deads that got in a massacre in a vietnamese village, where it started in 1979
It's interesting how a pop song with no connection to the Khmer Rouge ended up becoming a symbol of that regime. And this despite the fact that a number of real songs of the Khmer Rouge have survived to this day. I remember there was a whole hour-long video on RU-vid with these songs. And in short, they are very creepy. Perhaps this is due to the terrible quality of the recordings and the history behind them, but they directly instill the full horror of this regime.
0:43 That Cambodian baby was very adorable! Fun fact: This song (Look at the owl) is actually about animals and drugs, not the Khmer Rouge. PS: This video came out faster as I expected, and it is very good!
0:44 this part is real cruelty. How the Khmer Rouge bash kids to trees and walls so they didn’t take revenge on them, once they were older; as before that their families were assassinated. Ironic how this animation explains how cruel was the 1970s to Cambodia.
This is the most cute and brutal Polandball animation I have ever seen. Also the historical moment was gory, with a massive genocide of vietnamese, smart people, french (because of colonial past), babies and people who like things from outside. And they destroyed pharmacies and banks too, just to make city people move to the countryside.
@@thepatriot1569 Probably they hate it, a lot. The dictatorships always lead to suffering, no matter the ideology. As a market socialist myself I hate the actions realised for stalin pol pot, mao or other monsters like that, I have direct democratic values and I will not tolerate any kind of autoritarism.
As a Vietnamese myself, I would prefer something better although as far as my experience goes the current system is fine. Things have definitely improved since the 80s and 70s
This is one of the most creepiest countryball animations I've ever watched... I watched it at 3am (edit: the baby looks adorable, also good job at the animation tho, even it's a bit creepy)
This was terrifying and brutal, thanks icariaball for bringing attention to this event , also can you do meet the Caucasus? I have an idea also for them , να βάλεις την Τουρκία να αρνείται την γενοκτονία των Αρμενίων
I want to ask something, why is everyone talking about Armenians, 2 and a half million Turks were killed by Armenians in 10 years, but no one talks about it
I love how you managed to cover such a brutal event on RU-vid in just 1 minute.Even the details like the music were very smart and well picked.Thank God we ain't in Cambodia
Damn that was so disturbing, the Khmer Rouge balls entering the room with music reminded me of the military dictatorship in my country. where torture centers would play loud music to disguise the screams.
@@Pabloto-dq3sx They're a two party dictatorship where sometimes the candidate with less votes wins!, where voting districts are constantly redrawn, where the police are brutal and their job is to enforce the laws not serve the people and where military spending and veteran benefits are never slashed. oh there's also torture but is done in different countries.
