Hi Marius, I’ve been learning Norwegian on Duolingo for almost 3 years, and find I can barely say a sentence haha. Moreover, if I watch a TV show in Norwegian, I can only understand a few words! I just discovered your podcast and am excited to see how my Norwegian can develop with its help. However, I have a question: Does everyone in Norway roll their r’s? I have never been able to, and struggle with the r pronunciation in Norwegian. I’m wondering if it’s going to be a big problem If I come to Norway one day. I am really impressed by the effort you put in to each lesson. It’s much appreciated
Hi there Hailstrum! Thank you for the kind words :) And to answer your question. No, not everyone in Norway rolls their "r"s. I am from the south-west (near Stavanger) and I have a hard French-like "r". You will notice it in some of the episodes on "lær norsk nå!" and in some of the earlier videos. There are even some people from the East that will use the same "r" because they struggle with the rolling r, so don't feel bad for that. You can certainly be understood and speak "proper" Norwegian without the rolling r ;)
That's reassuring, thank you very much. I had the chance to come to Stavanger back in 2008 for my friend's wedding, beautiful area of the world. I dream about the chance to come back one day. @@learnnorwegiannow9881
Jeg har vært i Tromsø en gang og jeg har ikke visst om Lyngsalpan til nå. Og jeg har sikkert sett dem fra bilen fordi jeg kjørte til Nordkapp og tilbake... 😅 tja, neste gang....
