@@tasin2776 the knockback does, but the dmg doesn't, I thought? That's how Genji's deflect always worked, the dmg would get blocked, but a melee knockback would still boop

That would surely be a step in right direction, other way is some significant burn after hitting firestrike so it would be an actual danger that could still be healed (90+35 burn, so 2 hits does 250 dmg so you can kill reaper and mei once they dont have their survival abilities. Unlikely but overall he would have dangerous ranged options in this shooter. Another change that would make him more instersting is: the shorter you charge, the faster is cd, so if you used it and missed and immediately stopped it would be like half cd. SO you could essentially chase enemies with it. You could have shorter charge button that is instant and increase your charge by 2 seconds. So you get rapid burst of movement but cant charge immediately. Last idea is give rein quick attack for 30 dmg so he can meele fast meele meele so he doesnt have to waste firestrike in meele to 3 tap squishy for exactly 200 dmg (still better to firestrike 225+hp targets or when enemies receive healing. But yes. 250 on charge is must have. And honestly with how many things can prevent that charge and how hard it is to hit it when enemies just jump to side 300 is reasonable (so torb can also be killed and you can almost kill bastion as well as damaging tanks. Either give rein meaningfull range ability or make him ABSOLUTE MEELE UNIT that has to be stopped or he will kill you. Most tanks have some way to stop him. By ranged attacks so he is hurt when in meele, by cc. It should be: Stop reinhardt from getting really close or he will wipe you out.

He is viable just not in high ranks most of the time

@@dillonu.4975 yup that's what Blizzard keeps saying too. The fact of the matter is every tank is better than Rein. Viable? Yes, you can still select him but doesn't mean he is good. You won? Look at the stats. I bet your team dominated the other. Close stats? Rare, good game but probably could have been easier with any other tank...

Honestly I’d argue heavily for not buffing the pin beyond maybe upping that damage to 250. But instead buffing the rest of his kit, so faster recharge on shield, maybe better armour amount, better firestrike damage, maybe an extra five damage per swing. Etc. Not making his kit gain new utility but just more effective when you do land it (without devolving into 300 one shots each round).

Rein just sucks balls, especially with no Lucio. Some of the buffs they should do imo is: -Buff Charge to do 250 damage. -Buff Charge hit box. -Buff Firestrike to 100 damage. -Buff Shatter to 3 secs or make it immune to cleanse. Charge is basically a suicide ability and yet the damage and hit box is so wack. Firestrike Buff might be a bit much since he does have 2 Firestrikes, but I am a firm believer that Firestrike should always 1 shot rip-tire. Shatter being a .5 sec would be nice but in my opinion, shatter being countered by cleanse is so dumb.

@@mrartistimo1530 See I agree with the fire strike because if I’m hitting a squishy target with two fire strikes and they walk away isn’t very rewarding and pin I feel needs a small buff because he’s very fragile when he’s pinning in I don’t want a hog level thing I just think he should one pin at least reaper level target that can tp and fade to survive but I don’t find shatter great because kiriko counters it on a 15 second cooldown and keeps them down for 2 seconds where if you hit someone on the edge of the cone you aren’t killing them

@@CowKirbo I'd say give the charge the 250/300 ONLY if the Rein charges a certain distance. Might be finicky but that way it's your own fault if you see that coming a mile away and dont avoid it.

There is a way already to look around while shielding. i think it's done by holding fire (L Mouse) while shielding. i don't play rein so it might be a different button but it's in the game already

@@yesfinallygot1 Yes I commented that alternative cause this game its so fast paced to use that technique you mention, yo have to do a 180 flick, it would be much better if camera auto flick when you hold fire

Suzu counters just about everyone. JQ is countered, Rein ult is countered, Ana is countered, Ashe tnt is countered.

Not really fair. Their healers could have more pressure on them, or your team could be oneshotting/burst damaging their teammates more - meaning they have less opportunity to spam heal.

@@bananamonkeygaming14 no it's really not. Take Hog for example: he has a damage reduction with take a breather, right? He still has 700 hp but can absorb so much more damage than if he had say 1000hp and no damage reduction. Even if you give the shield more health, it'll still crack easily. Giving it a damage reduction allows the barrier to survive longer and absorb more damage than just simply buffing health. Damage reduction basically ignores some of the incoming damage. If the shield had more health, it would simply just take all that damage, but with the reduction, its able to ignore more damage and basically make it inconsequential

I think to compensate for his shield being less powerful they should just straight up buff his normal speed

Broken asf, imagine pairing this with lucio speed boost, you couldnt run away from rein.

I think it may be better if the speed boost was slightly stronger but it only activated when you get a kill, allowing rein to be more of a “snowball” character, and it would sort of fit his character in the cinematic. It may also be interesting to see if rein could get some sort of a crit/headshot mechanic with his hammer, not just in his ult. I think it could be something along the lines similar to his ult, where you could jump up and actually crush people with your hammer if you hit their head like in the cinematic, at the cost of some mobility while doing it, but it also shouldn’t be able to one-shot squishies (except maybe tracer since it’s would be rather slow). I’m sorta wondering how this would work in-game so it likely will need some tweaks.

Difference is, hog can just bring you to him and oneshot even 250hp targets without sacrificing anything. Rein, on the other hand, has to throw his entire body, his positionning and much more for a very noticeable and easily avoidable oneshot which doesn’t even oneshot 250 hp targets. Hog’s hook, on the other hand, is super easy to hit and doesn’t leave you any time to react

Not really. He's got the health, the block, the barrier, yeah he does a Lotta damage but all the tanks do pretty strong damage.

That's the thing - he does damage *up close*. Currently, all the other tanks either do damage at range, or have hella mobility. He does less damage than hog, easier to kill than orisa, and has a fraction of the mobility of hammond or winston.

Yeah when you finally get up close, and don't immediately die from the sheer abuse the other team have no trouble landing on your massive body I'm sure smacking 1 squishy character 3 times without them getting either healed, peeled for or escape would get him a kill. At the moment, you could play hog, hook them across the world and 1 shot them, and then heal up as if you weren't even there, or orisa with her spear headshot combo or harass past the tank. Sigmas smacking someone with 2 auto attacks (both balls connecting) or a rock and an auto attack to kill anyone, ooorrr literally anyone is better close range than the bloody close ranged bully is. Its a joke. Unless you get a cheeky pin on someone, (which from my personal experience means pure luck that they dont just bounce out of your grip) then you could say hes the best up close (even tho pins are easier to get farther away).

Go ahead and shatter. Kiriko pops in and everyone stands back up. The only way shatter is useful is if either they don't have Kiriko for some reason, or you land it on someone and kill them. Also, if the enemy has a rein just go junk Pharah and delete him. The only reason he gets away with anything is low ranks is simply because people play what they want there and not what's best.

Yeah the effect is different. Instead of turning gold, the wooly parts start glowing. It's easy to see here at 5:28 when she ults Flats.
