In this video, Daniel Anderson explains the relationship between Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. He covers the concept of the files tab in Microsoft Teams, and how it is actually a window to the files stored in the SharePoint site associated with the team. He also goes over the idea that every channel in Microsoft Teams has its own files tab, and that each channel creates a new folder in the SharePoint document library. He also talks about the difference between Microsoft Teams as the front-end and SharePoint as the content services and how the files are uploaded and stored in the SharePoint site through the Microsoft Teams interface. The video also includes a demo to show how the concept works in practice.

Very helpful. I used to be a SP administrator before MS Teams existed. How they integrate has been a mystery to me. I suspected they were related in some way but I just have used MS Teams to chat with people. AM just learning there is much more.

Microsoft Teams will become the standard for file access for organisations embracing full cloud domain architecture. Especially given the alternative is OneDrive, which cannot scale given it needs to index everything in order to work, at a massive cost to clientside performance.

Custom level permissions cannot be applied to a SharePoint site that comes from a Microsoft Teams Integration. Neither for the document library. What do you do when you have a team of people that need granular permissions. Some are allowed to create, edit, view while other members will be able to create, edit, view and delete. I haven't found a solution for this other than setting up a separate sharepoint site and adding it to the tab in microsoft teams. However you end up with a bunch of unnecccsary channel sites.

Can you explain what happens if you delete a Teams Channel to the folder in SharePoint? Thank you.

Is there a difference between a SharePoint site that is created with a Team, and a Team Site created in SharePoint? Is there a difference in the URL? My SharePoint site in Teams have "teams" in the URL and my Team Site in SharePoint has "Sites" in the URL. Is there any difference? My Admin team above me seems to think that when you create a "Team" site in SharePoint it will have the "teams" in the URL, and when you "Communication" site in SharePoint it will have "Sites" in the URL. This is somewhat confusing and I believe incorrect.
