Thank you for so beautifully illustrating the saints in your quick takes. They help me to know the wonderful stories of the saints and I just love these!
You have given such honor to our Mother's mother St. Anne! She is so powerful, my favorite and my companion especially in meeting, marrying and growing old with my husband of 50 years in the traditional Catholic Catholic Church. Lisa we thank you for this presentation. May Our Lady and St. Anne bless you and your family.
There is a little chapel here (Czech Republic , Strancice), in a village that I happened to settle in, dedicated to St. Anne, built due to miraculous events connected with her intercession: Regaining sight by very religious farmer, who prompted by vision he had -> washed his eyes in a forest stream that started under a fir tree (1820). Following his miraculous healing, he bought, and nailed an icon / painting of St. Anne on that very tree. Many processions took place since that time. However, it took only 7 years that local priest Pater Hynek, (Piarists), who being in need of a timber, and decided to cut out that great tree, because it appeared to be perfect to perform some kind of construction work. Icon was moved on a nearby smaller fir tree. The log was loaded on a newly, solidly constructed, sturdy cart, and in doing so: The cart broke. Local blacksmith, and wheelwright couldn't explain the fact, and claimed that "it was the sturdiest cart they had made". The trunk had to be cut into pieces to move it, but it devalued the timber. Pater Hynek understood the sign, and mistake he had committed, so he decided that their convent will build a chapel on that place. He even painted another picture of St. Anne, but he died soon after, before he could fulfil promise. Subsequently, in 1883 there was a great draught, and people of the nearby villages turned to St. Anne for intercession. They even had built a tiny chapel (3 people could stand in it at once) as thanks given for fulfilled prayers. Bigger chapel was necessary really soon, and after money was collected: the building of a bigger chapel started, however there was not enough of money to finish up roof. Piarists took over the construction, and finished it up, new chapel was consecrated in July 1896. There is an old altar in it, that was moved from the Chruch of St. Peter and Paul in Prague. Many relics were sadly stolen, sadly the painting too, and old statues of St. Anne, and angels... but the altar remains there. The chapel is closed most of the time, but I can look inside through the bars. Sadly Novous Ordo Missae is performed there from time to time. I go there alone sometimes to pray for intercession of St. Anne, I don't believe in coincidences. I think I supposed to be here. I just hope this place will be reclaimed, rededicated, reconsecrated, but His will be done.
