Last year, I checked out every Mafia game including Mafia City of Lost Heaven. A few months after that video, 2K announced a remake of the game. Let’s see how it compares to the original.

Honestly after just the huge pool of open worlds, side quest, and grind. Just a linear game to where the open world is really just an elaborate set piece. It did what it needed to do and stays on being an experience then done. Such a breath of fresh air and hope to see more in it's vein for the future of Mafia.

Nope that made the open world pointless. Add the that the glitches, how they fucked up some of the scenes with bugs, and how little shower the main missions where. The game was poor garbage.

@@dianuevo8925 To each their own goes into play. Personally I highly enjoyed the game and encountered no bugs, but that was my experience. Edit: And that's the point...the open world is just a set piece really something to give atmoshere to the game in the vein of Uncharted. And for some a linear game is a nice breather from the standard open world game. You could explore it but I'm glad it's esentially linear

I loved what they did with the remake, the only thing that i think they could have done was adding a few features from Mafia 2 like being able to go to a bar or restaurant to drink or eat to recover health, etc.

Mafia 2 was way ahead of it's time. call me crazy but in my opinion it was a pinnacle in open world genre games, the amount of details, the immersive gameplay were ridiculous.. I don't think Hanger 13 can ever recreate the same magic of what 2k Czech did with their games. 2k was known for their high quality immersive gameplay design and details. on the other hand these American developers only cares about shooting mechanics and visuals

To be honest I didn’t but mafia 1 remake and when the gave us mafia trilogy for the same price( in my country) i couldn’t resist buying it. This series is still as much fun as i remembered

2:58 That's my biggest complaint about Mafia remake. A remake is about retaining EVERY SINGLE FEATURE present in the original game intact while adding new features. Why does a remake have to sacrifice something to add new features? If the trains were functional, then this train system would be the best train system since GTA IV and Watch Dogs 1. RDR2 and GTA SA also have awesome intercity train system as well.

I loved it! Much better than Mafia 3 but the open world doesn’t have many things to do. But the story is brilliant!

Yeah the original didn't have much either after completing the main story. But for $40 and a pretty lengthy (and great campaign) it's worth it.

The Mafia 1 Remake was excellent, the game and gameplay was excellent like the original, apart from the fact I’m not getting Vito and Lincoln’s cars and clothing because I’m on Xbox One and I’ve got all three games installed on my console, the game’s been an enjoyable experience, I really hope we get future expansions for this game. 👍🏻

Just found out your video. If I’ll be honest I like the the scene where Tommy is saved by Sam and Paul outside. You need to take in count that in Czech language have for F word 50 different words so it’s more colourful

It was good but needed side content to keep you occupied. Maybe some side missions like going out with your buddies,doing personal favors for the don in order to get to know him more. Also maybe some personal quests like seeing your family and taking them out to eat,seeing the dynamics between Tommy and his wife. I get it's a game about crime but mafia 2 showed us you don't need the game to be action,action,action! Some slow paced missions are welcome

The game still has some problems that got to be fixed. Well there is one huge issue with the ‘Mister Fancy Bike’ mission.

@@redcobra6016 I’ve only played it when it was released. There were some bugs where the missions didn’t progress and I had to restart checkpoint. This isn’t a bug, but the awful mission marker on the screen was too annoying

@@gleam6370 the issue I’m talking about actually became a thing when they added the taxi fares activity and racing. When doing the Mister Fancy Bike mission, the game would crash once you reach the finish and it can also corrupt your save. This issue exists in consoles, I don’t know about PC.

2K literally sold NBA for $70 in 2020. I'm definitely thankful they gave a fair price point for the Mafia Definitive Edition. You get a great story, unique setting/atmosphere, and fun missions. No game of this size would be sold for $20 at release.

As someone who played the original back in 2002 I found it very disappointing and even disrespectful in a lot of ways to the original game.

Honestly, other than the graphics, it did nothing right. The weapon animations and gameplay was from Mafia 3. The open world was garbage. It was empty and pointless and full of glitches. Plus side missions, nor activities. NOTHING. It was also disappointing with how it excluded modes from the original game. So yeah, the game is bad. Even Cyberpunk 2077 is a better game.
