True but there is a point in it too, that someone's past doesn't necessarily define them. I respect people who've committed crimes but turned their lives around. Of course if you find out about it, you'd initially be wary, but better to be mildly cautious than to completely write them off.

In 2012, in the run-up to the Olympic Games, a charity for disabled children, was trying to hire a coach for their Summer Camp. The coach companies, in London, had jacked their prices so high, because of the demand, including demand by the Met, that the charity simply couldn't afford one. I wrote to Bernard Hogan-Howe, asking if 1 of their chartered coaches was going (empty) to the Olympic events in Dorset, as the empty coach would be passing the camp site. Two days after posting the letter, I received his hand-written reply, promising that his HQ would get on to it; the kids got a coach and went camping! Can you imagine: the man that lead the police & security operation for the 2012 Games, with all that pressure, found the time (and humanity) to remember the community - LEGEND!

The subtle nuances in the voice when asked 'have you been in trouble BEFORE' when stopped by the old bill, is almost another way of saying you are in trouble NOW, when in fact, you haven't done anything wrong , and you have to remember your far from shiny past, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who resents this, as a straight man. Being amicable becomes more difficult, with this 'rabbit in the headlights' feeling overtaking your calm nature and feeling an anger brewing. 'it was so long ago'

@thefiestaguy8831 7 лет назад
There's no implied stigma at all, it's you that can't understand or grasp a simple concept. The question is "HAVE you".. have you implies nothing, they're simply asking if you have or have not been in trouble either, it's an open question. Not "When were you".... which implies you have been in trouble.... People like you really are fucking thick...

I'm am 35years old male and i haven't got a record, worked straight for school every time iv been people in London I found the police rude and jumped up on a power trip. I'm always polite and i have nothing to hide. And it's the same thing you match a description but then release they have got the wrong person they don't even say sorry. I think it's wrong, they need training in common sense and manners. Manners in my eyes go along way and if they had some they wouldn't get this bad rep

What's the point of a commissioner unless he's honest? I was attacked in a police station by some officers I complained, they claimed I attacked them 1st. However the whole incident was caught on cctv, I spent the next 6 years trying to get it, they wouldn't let me have it, I tried via court order, the commissioner sent a legal team to court to stop me getting the footage so he successfully perverted the course of justice

The caller has a point and LBC confirmed it. The title says "The Remarkable Moment A Bank Robber Called The Met Police Chief | LBC" when it should read 'The Remarkable Moment When An Ex-Bank Robber Called The Met Police Chief | LBC'. He clearly stated that he had been straight for 20 years. (True or not I cannot know, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt.) The caller was not asking for preferential or special treatment and neither was he complaining about being stopped. He pointed out the difference in attitudes and tones of the different forces. All he asked was to be dealt with in the same manner. To have a criminal record means that he was found guilty by a court of law. Presumably, he was dished out some form of punishment. Once you have completed your sentence and return to society, are we to continue to punish those that then choose to stay on the straight and narrow? Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure that both the northern force (whichever it is) and the Metropolitan Force are inwardly as equally suspicious and that is normal of course when they become aware of this caller's past. I think the caller was pointing out not what was done, but the way in which it was done and that's fair enough.

It is a cultural divide, in the south it is more money, and class. Where as the north is more village mentality, poorer places. Not so much the French culture of sophistication, if that is the correct way of putting it.

geezerp1982 Same as all useless cops. People do not have the right to self defence in the UK. Kick a criminal and YOU do time whilst the cops claim you antagonised the situation and should have just been a good little victim so they can justify their PATHETIC claim the that are there to protect you when in reality they are there to extract revenue, support the elite and help the bent Judiciary.

A.W. R-C In the U.K. it is considered a criminal offence to carry on your person: a gun, a knife, a taser, a can of pepper spray and other means of self defence. Let me ask you, if you have no way to defend yourself, how were you supposed to feel safe? What are you supposed to do when confronted by a rapist with a weapon? Bend over and spread your cheeks? Fucking despicable. The citizens of the U.K. are defenceless.
