Many episodes of _Ren & Stimpy_ were completely off-kilter, I think this one was truly terrifying. Every time you saw Ren produce that tormented, demented smile, you realized that the only thing keeping him from exploding in an uncontrolled orgy of gruesome mass murder was that happiness helmet ...
As a kid you laugh because the funny cartoons smash butts and the song sounds weird. As an adult you laugh because you listened to the lyrics, realizing this is a song about a crazy guy on a shooting rampage after he went nuts, and somehow this made it into a kids show without the censors noticing.
As messed up as this episode is, Ren genuinely thanking Stimpy at the end was pretty wholesome, because without Stimpy forcing Ren to be happy all the time, he wouldn't have realized what trully made him happy.
Us millennials grew up watching stuff like this and Rocko's Modern Life and catching reruns of Twin Peaks and people wonder why we are the way that we are.
I grew up watching this, but I also watched DuckTales. Looney Tunes. Hanna-Barbera. Rocky and Bullwinkle. Tons more. That adds up to a well-rounded youth.
Kids cartoons these days: “Be kind to each other, and be a wonderful person.” Kids cartoons back in the day “I TOLD YOU I’D SHOOT, BUT YOU DIDN’T BELIEVE ME! WHY DIDN’T YOU BELIEVE ME?!?!?”
Back in the day, kids were allowed to think for themselves and grow. These days, kids are forced to spew the same brainless garbage over and over again.
The decade before Ren and Stimpy we had Get Along Gang, Rainbow Bright and My Little Pony. Plus, cartoons these days have friggin Gumball. If you don't know what that is, watch a few clips out of context.
"The little critters of nature; they don't know they're ugly. That's very funny; a fly marrying a bumblebee." - Stinky Weaselteets Holy fuck, I love this cartoon.
Yo, just found out I have to sit for a freaking clep exam... happy happy joy joy... no matter what life throws at me, I always come back to happy happy joy joy
I love how Ren remains happy even while he's hitting his head with a hammer... it's truly the happiest he'll ever be. So angry that his ultimate happiness is brain damage or death.
The humor of Ren & Stimpy will always be very subjective, but nobody wirth appreciation for art could ever watch this show and call its audiovisual composition anything short of masterly.
@@GummyTheBlueCat Ren & Stimpy was Jean-Yves Raimbaud's (creator of Oggy and Space Goofs) favourite cartoon. He was friend with Bob Camp (showrunner of R&S)
In another 5 more years, we are all going to have to apologize to our descendants about how much we laughed our asses off at Ren and Stimpy and Beavis and Butthead. Start writing your apology cards now.....
@@bezoticallyyours83 The difference between those three and 'Beavis and Stimpy' is that the ones you mention had writing and a razor sharp sense of sarcasm. 'Beavis and Stimpy' were just stupid at the most childish and basic level. And we all laughed our stupid asses off at it. 😆
