I actually like this video a lot. I believe that this video is supposed to depict youths who decide to live fast and die young. The old lady is supposed to be a young woman who chose to live a life of partying and drugs. That is why they represented her as an old woman because of her excessive consumption of drugs and alcohol. She did heroin, overdosed, and died. she was represented as an old lady because her lifestyle led her to her end early.

The video started off normal enough, took a turn for the weird, but still kinda nice (hey, old ladies need love too), took a turn for the weirder and darker, and then just ended all dark. But it was all so seamless, there was no whiplash. A+, would watch again.
On one hand, this video is brilliant and will probably get Mr Cantor lots of attention. One the other hand, I will never be able to listen to The Rendezvous again without feeling nauseous.

Its not really an old woman its a metaphor, shes just a young girl but the boy sees her as an old woman because shes more experienced than him The girl(old woman) is a metaphor of how experienced she is with drugs,sex,cigarettes,drinking opposite to the guy who doesnt know how to drink 1:28, who doesnt know how to smoke 1:43 etc.
OK hold up. A kid who clearly has never smoked or drank hard liquor before, isn't about to do 5 lines of coke like it's no problem, then drive home completely normally
TheGreatNorth It's not like they actually *did* a lot of this. Sure, the train really goes off the rails towards the end, but look at a lot of movies. A lot of them are more fucked up than this.
from the lyrics alone i like to think the meaning is of a dysfunctional couple, where they constantly take breaks from each other. it's always the guy pulling out of the relationship, wary and exhausted of what they're doing, before they meet up again seeking comfort. so when they "do the rendezvous", it's a little term they coined to describe their on and off relationship, meeting up only to leave again. however when i integrate the video, it gets harder to interpret the song. i think that the girl might be more experienced and steadfast in the relationship, whereas the guy wants to take it slow. he's unused to what he should be doing, and just follows along, thinking that this is how relationships should be. it's not. as a highly dysfunctional relationship, it's only a matter of time before they leave each other again, only for the guy to realize she isn't coming back. and that's the end.
I hate how no one in comments gets the meaning of the video and just comment on the girls age. she is only portrayed as old because she is more experienced than the boy. like she is doing 3 lines like it's nothing then shooting heroine like it's a routine. and throughout the video you see how new he is to this
Except that if they did, he wouldn't get in trouble, as long as he called the police when she overdosed. There is a thing called good samaritan laws, that when you call the police because someone is in danger of losing their life, illegal acts like drug use, or underage drinking, will not be charged. This is so people aren't afraid to call the police if someone could be saved.
I was trying to put together..it's not as weird if the lady never existed but rather a drug induced hallucination. He did the drugs, recalled the night while unconscious, now you could say he has done this before and over and over, with the lady being older to symbolize that. He doesn't really need to hide a body he didn't kill and he doesn't hide it very well just gets it out of the house. This also makes me think that it's his drug addiction he's trying to get rid of.
I think it meant to show that she was near her death. The guy in the video saw her as a woman his age. But due to her addictions she had the life expectancy of a much older, dying woman.
I personally think this has a pretty clear message to state... To me it looks like its just a bunch of symbolism about how kids in this day and age want to act like grown ups(like at the begining of the video where everything looks boring to him until he find a grown up woman).... like what they see on tv becuase it looks cool and they grew up around little sensorship(im not saying add more sensorship personally i hate it) and once they find a way to get to live the mature lives(him finding a mature woman) at a very young age it gets very drastic and out of hand and they start to do crazy things that are normal for adults but look insane for children(becuase children shouldn't be doing shit like this snorting crack etc.) which ultimately leads to the boy wanting to escape it all(when he reaches his breaking point...the lady dying) and throw it all away like he did BUT just becuase the video ended there doesnt mean he escaped it you cant run away from it once your stuck( the cops will probably trace everything back to him) and it would have probably came to eat him up if it was continued BUT HEY im just a 11 kid what do i know? huh?
Lockum Smith I don't think she's actually old, but it'a kinda like what your saying about growing up, and how people of a slight age gap can seem "old", despite there being no real difference.

Hmm... Weird.... This video was weird... However, it was good. It's not only very well made and high quality (as all of his videos are), but it takes something that seems like any typical pop music video, and suddenly turns it into something totally unexpected. Also, I have to say that this video seems like the kind of thing that you would have made when you were with Tally Hall. Not quite the music video I was expecting for this song, but it was still very good. Thank you for the video and the song, and please make a music video for I'm gonna win.

Someone else commented and I enjoyed their take -- she is used to all of this. She is experienced and been in the drug/party life a while. Meanwhile he is new. He follows her example and is caught up in the life because of the girl (old to represent that she is experienced) and sees his life fall apart

I just watched this again, she isn't dead, she didn't take off the tourniquet, so she wouldn't have a pulse since the tourniquet is still blocking the radial artery and she's just done a lot of heroin, so her breathing is shallow and not noticeable and she's unresponsive because she's mixed alcohol and heroin and the cocaine would just be wearing off and they've been partying all night. She's definitely not dead.
