3 minutes 7 seconds of British garage music perfection. This is why I love my 60’s. Thank you for sharing.

Damn, 1966! Way ahead of their time, and great video. Dude playing guitar with a drumstick!

A really good example of early Punk - lots of fuzz guitar, yelling lyrics, and a great beat. This song is getting airplay on Little Steven's Underground Garage on SiriusXM Radio as of July 2018. Great rock song! Thanks for the video.

Punk? That shit is from the late 70s. This is freakbeat/late Mod rock. Fans of the punk rock should stop trying to appropiate for their shit 60s rock. 60s rock is a thing on its own and doesn´t have to be overlinked to 70s rock like the punk
@martinrodzzz5329

The term "Punk Rock" was originally used in the early '70s by American journalists such as Lenny Kaye and Lester Bangs - to describe music that sounds exactly like this!
@GrtSatan
@GrtSatan 3 года назад
@@martinrodzzz5329 Also described as "garage bands." I have tons of recordings of bands like this but the Renegades are truly in a class of their own. Brilliant, powerful, and instantly engaging. They totally rock!
@martinrodzzz5329
@martinrodzzz5329 3 года назад
In 1973, British paper the New Musical Express serialised a pull-out "Book Of Rock", 80 pages long. Yes, 1973. Under P, you will find a heading for "Punk Rock": PUNK ROCK First coined to describe the numerous local white rock bands who sprang up all over America between 1965/68 - a transitional period in development of American rock'n'roll, the years between the Beatles/Stones-led British invasion and the San-Francisco-based rock renaissance.." After 4 more paragraphs, there is a list of US 1-hit wonders (mostly regional hits only) and the reader is directed to the 1972 compilation LP "Nuggets: 1965/1968" on the Elektra label. It concludes the entry with: "Prime British punk band was the now semi-legendary Troggs (see TROGGS)". The entry for "TROGGS" refers to this group as "Britain's only really genuine punk band". So the term "punk rock" already covered a wide variety of groups - before Lydon ever approached a microphone!

@martinrodzzz5329 3 года назад
@Éclectico Iconoclastica m.ru-vid.com/group/PL3odMgAX2E3huDo4x3e493iVgij9pC_G3 The "Nuggets" 2LP set was compiled in 1972 by Lenny Kaye, and from his original sleeve notes: "...most of these groups... were young, decidedly unprofessional, seemingly more at home practicing for a teen dance than going out on a national tour. The name that has been unofficially coined for them - punk-rock - seems particularly fitting in this case for if nothing else they exemplified the berserk pleasure that comes with being on-stage outrageous the relentless middle-finger drive and determination offered only by rock and roll at its finest."

Pollari-Rock-etsivä ohjelma alkoi Renegades biisillä Thirteen women. Enpä muistanutkaan että on näin rockkaava esitys. 7.helmikuuta 1966 oltiin The Top Ties orkalla lämppärinä Renegadesille kajaanin vanhalla työväentalolla.
