I’m going to be honest I think the whole vault thing is a ploy. They’re trying to make us absolutely hate them (though I think they’re all human scum) and it’s my personal theory they’re going to make the next fallout game have them as the good ending users because if you think about it they’re building up the hate for this group for some reason and it’s likely it’s because they’re planning to make them a faction in the next game or major 76 DLC. TBH that makes tons of sense to me and just shows how dedicated they are to making the lore and the situations of their games and would really be impressive since theyve been doing this for years.

Given that Oxhorn is always so diligent with his research, I am surprised he did not call out the Easter egg(s) when reviewing the available fields. For example, an interociter comes from the movie This Island Earth, also made famous by the good folks at mst3k. He usually catches that sort of thing and includes it in his videos.

Data on tape can be crazy slow compared to modern SSDs, but it lasts a very very long time in storage without corruption and stores a shit ton of information in a tight space. Excellent for periodic backups of large data sets.

Almost one month ago, a friend of mine told me about a concept that he wanted to be considered canon. His concept was an Independent Appalachian Nation shared with the Descendants of the Raiders, Settlers and Vault 76 Residents that would become the rival of the Minutemen once they reached the Capital Wasteland and NYC. His concept was a good idea for Fallout 5, but an even better idea would be a Minuteman-Controlled Appalachia with 0 Raiders and Foundation serving as the Appalachian Capital. The Minutemen could expand to NYC and (Just like the NCR in Fallout New Vegas) start running into trouble after arriving in New York.

I made a discovery at the museum of freedom in fallout 4. There is a room behind the left painting frame accessible only via TCL, a cut room that holds no legendary loot or overpowered items, it is a run of the mill room with a staircase leading upwards to nothing. It has a set of bathrooms, a few skeletons, an medkit containing 2 leveled loot medical items, and drawers with naught but a few caps: it makes me wonder; why was this cut from fallout 4 behind a wall?

I thought about what would a new Fallout game look like and I think it would be cool to do a game based in Alaska, called, Fallout: The Last Frontier (since Alaska was once deemed that in the U.S.) You can be a soldier, or higher in command, that escaped to a vault once the nukes were launched. There are other military officials & along with their families inside the vault. You are selected as one of the members who are placed into a sleep-style-stasis... but not with your family!! You are then wiped of certain memories and placed under the stasis. Once your selected years have passed, you are awaken and put back into training & command of certain jobs. Later, an attack on the vault happens and you must defend it. Boom the battle is over and the vault has been left inoperable.. or you just leave. Either way, you leave to go find a militia that is tasked with destroying remnants of the old world... the literal opposite of the BoS. They attacked the vault. In the process, you discover your family is possibly still alive but must find out the truth... Can’t give anymore details as of yet.

Pure gold doesn't tarnish, unlike silver and copper, making it a wonderful conductor of electricity in these post-nuclear war times. A better use for it than "moni$$$" in my opinion.

Tapes are actually the most efficient memory storage we have to date. Highest capacity, highest stability, requires little to no power while stored (HDDs and SSDs require some once in few years) and fairly compact compared to data density (you can store about 12TB of data on a casette the size of a Hobbit book). The only drawback they have is the read and write speed but for backup purposes they are the best solution you can get to this day.

Hey oxhorn. How are you? I just recently finished the main mission for wastelanders, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. The way that they put it all together was amazing.

The one thing I disagree with is that they are forcing you on the quest, with no other option to go in. Besides if SHE wants it SO badly, why does she not talk to the 2 groups herself. Why does the character have to do 90% of the work and get pretty much zip in return. If you think about it, GREED is what brought down society, and now you wish to go back to it. What ever happened to learning from the past so that we do not make the same mistakes?

Stranglets are one of those Physics things that COULD exist, but IF it did exist could single handedly destroy the entirety of reality. It's a particle containing a strange quark but is actually stable which would be a very bad thing because strange quarks and subsequently strange particles that are made from them destroy normal matter (but they aren't anti-matter like you might think). A strange particle that was made stably in our existence could theoretically destroy some or all of the matter in the universe if it was made to exist. So, Vault-Tek is just being normal Vault-Tek here.

Now I'm curious about Vault 79. Who's gonna help 76 get the gold in the end? Raiders or Foundation ppl?

Not sure if anyone picked up on this, but there was no way out of the secret area except to go back through the vault, right? And yet there was no skeletons there. (Okay there were a few in like, boxes and stuff, but none of the scientists or whoever was watching the trainees) It’s almost as if Vault Tec University knew not to leave any workers down there... But for real, if there were people watching the trainees, and the trainees were unable to escape, why weren’t there any staff also trapped? And if they could leave, why weren’t the trainees able to escape? Surely the staff weren’t stupid enough to go out while there was still fallout? And there’s still a little food left, so they wouldn’t have starved yet... Idk, just a thought...

Tape data storage is surprisingly still used pretty wildly today for big companies. I think it has to do with tapes not degrading and being a really cheap form of long term storage.

I find it funny how people think when it comes to things like Gold, they believe it just automatically has value and always will no matter what; this is of course wrong. Gold has value today because it is useful to us, how ever in a post apocalyptic world where the only thing is survival, Gold would be worthless. You can't eat it, or burn it, or uses it to make walls, or weapons, or armor, it is totally worthless for survival. In fact Historically speaking, precious metals have only had value when there was already a stable government and currency system in place; our nomadic ancestors had no uses for gold or silver, so to them it was worthless, and is why we find no gold or silver being buried with them, or evidence of it being used by them. We only start to see it being used in Jewelry and such once actual Kingdoms started to appear, for once survival was no longer the primary concern and people could focus on something other then "will I live to see tomorrow", they had the ability to worry about vanity, which it what Gold and Silver was about. Now today it is still used for vanity, but it is also used in Electronics so is now an actual useful resource, but if our modern world goes away ie: Fallout type scenario, it would go back to having no value outside of vanity.

Just a thought, With all the HAM radios you find in the games, why have you never received or transmitted any messages? To me, it looks like someone could have been in contact with someone else in one of the other games. Fallout: New Vegas is a long distance from the other ones but someone in Fallout 3 could get a message to someone in Fallout 4. Just something I was pondering about.

Overseer: What has gold always been used for? Money! ... Hate to break it to you, Lady, but (In in-game pre-Fallout America) dollars weren't made out of literal gold. On the other hand, it's used for jewellery, decoration, and electronics. For jewellery and decoration far before the concept of coinage was even a thing, and still to this day, actually. (I get that she probably means that money is always based on gold value, but even that is wrong as heck. Even if America's money is valued based on gold's stock market, it's not the case everywhere, far from it. So yeah she's a bit money/gold-centrist if she can't believe in a monetary system not based upon a shitton of gold sitting in a big-ass safe and can't wrap her head around the fact this gold could help rebuilding a civilization by making culture and science progress back to where it was before the fallout.)

Did the Overseer forget bottlecaps? That's the new currency now. It's easy to produce, there are lots of it. Gold? Eh, there's only a finite supply of them in that vault and once they're gone, they're gone. It's like she didn't even take basic Economy 101. The gold is only useful if there's gold to be had. As far as I know, there isn't a place within Appalachia that can create more gold. The stuff in 79 is literally all the gold there is. Period. And that's not considering the value of gold translated to value of bottlecaps. If a merchant is selling a 10mm pistol for 25 bottlecaps and you slap a bar of gold on the counter, they're gonna look at you like you've lost your damn mind. What on Earth are they gonna use it for? It's as useful as the pre-War US dollars we find strewn across the wasteland.

The idea that there is no conclusion to this vault kind of makes it clear that the creators ran out of ideas. Major LOL!

The illusion of choice seems like a constant theme in Bethesda's fallout, arguing with the overseer gets you nowhere, you have to get into the vault whether you want to or not because there's no story path outside of that
