The Resurrection of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern (Green Lantern: Rebirth) 

Geoff Johns' run on green lantern is one of the greatest runs in comics ever. Would love if you'd continue through the other 11 or so volumes in his run :)

This is the best example of how to do a retcon I've seen so far. Taking what was left before and tying it all make complete sense, keeping everything that has happened before and just moving forward with it. Great vid Rob! This is one of my all-time favorite storylines. I was glued to GL when this came out and man it was great. My friends at the comic book store thought it was the best line of GL comics ever, and I still think it is. One thing Rob missed in this was when Hal talks about how each of the major lanterns' constructs are different. John Stewart is an architect, so his constructs are always intricate, like he's building them from the inside out. Kyle's an artist, so his are more defined because he's always refining them in his head like an artist would. Hal's to the point, always attacking things directly, precise but controlled. Guy's ring bleeds his will there's so much of it. Kilowog's is the only ring that makes a sound, a big woomp. I hope people get to read it somewhere. Really was one of the best reboots ever, if not the best. DC has always been known for mostly better storylines and this story was no exception. I think Johns made his career with this run at DC. Can't help but wonder what DCCU would have been like had Green Lantern Reynolds been a better movie. It was inspired by this story arcs success.

Favorite Green Lanterns: 1a. Hal Jordan. This character is amazing and I grew up on him. There's not much else to say but I just love this character. 1b. Alan Scott. I absolutely love this character. I never really knew much about him until recently, but he's so cool. He's the original Green Lantern and the star heart is awesome, I also find it cool that his power level actually is close to one of the emotional entities (Parallax, etc.) Rather than a single Green Lantern. I love the JSA and I loved the Green Lantern mythos and this character is amazing. 2. John Stewart. Never been too big a fan of this guy but this book made him grow on me. He's awesome and I love the way he sticks up for Hal. Great character. 3. Kyle Rayner. Never been a fan of him, hes not a bad character but I prefer everyone else. 4. Guy Gardner. Same situation as Kyle but to a farther extent.

Guy Gardner was never a "Yellow Lantern." He had Sinestro's original power ring, which worked very differently than the yellow power rings that debuted years later as part of the Sinestro Corps.

One of the best non event story arcs ever...the whole johns run on lantern is amazing, was never a big lantern fan until I dove into that, now it's my favorite stuff, and the new rebirth comics don't disappoint either. That said...would love to see you do something in deathstroke rebirth...might be the best writing out there right now

I have to say I really enjoyed this video, I am an old school GL fan reading all of my dads/granddads comics growing up Kyle is one of my Favourite Green Lanterns (being a 80's/90s kid) Geoff Johns GL run was an amazing one! (I'm glad he has returned to comic runs) I hope he returns to GL because there are still issues left standing from the GL universe that hasn't been explained.

Can't wait to see your future videos about the SInestro Corp war and leading into Blackest Night. Good job, this story is what got me started into Comics and I love the GL mythos.

Pretty good summary. It's a bit of a shame that you didn't mention that the reason that Hal got possessed was because Sinestro accidentally discovered Parallax in the Central Battery, decided to use it to essentially destroy Hal as a man and as a character, and got Hal infected with Parallax when the Corps was first destroyed when Hal fought Sinestro in the Central Battery. Then when Hal entered the Battery again during Emerald Twilight, his possession was essentially completed, complete with the costume.

Thank you so much for this video!.... I tried reading this book about 4 years ago when I just started reading comics and was so confused as to what was going on. After seeing this video a couple weeks ago it made me want to give the Geoff Johns run another shot and I am so glad I did. The writing is fantastic and the art is even better.

Loved the video Rob (and really hope you eventually cover the rest of the epic) but I'm quite surprised that you skipped over the bit about the different Lanterns' fighting/construct styles during the fight against Parallax :O I really thought you'd enjoy explaining that bit So for those who don't know: John, as an architect tends to build constructs like buildings, reinforced throughout, Kyle, as an artist constantly sketches and re-sketches his construct as he makes little adjustments, Guy's eagerness to give his will form causes his constructs and beams to spark, Killowog's ring is the only ring that makes a loud booming noise when used, and Hal uses precise energy beams :)

Rob, you should do a video on Bullseye's origin or one of his big stories like when he stabs Elektra. No channels have done any Bullseye content yet and he is an extremely badass character with lots of cool abilities along with being sadistic to the point where he is kind of like Marvel's joker counterpart. Bullseye vs Punisher is a really good arc as well. You're the man!

Thanks for this video man! I love the Green Lantern stories and this is a great way to understand how everything prior to Geoff Johns' pieces together. I didn't really get into GL much until Geoff's Blackest Night run and now it's nice to understand the past better. Are you going to do another for the new Rebirth? I'm so confused where the current corps is and how they all got to where they are after being banished to the old universe and where White Lantern Kyle is.
