Everybody knows Chester can’t be replaced cuz he’s one of a kind and I don’t think Mike and the guys is trying to do that. This would be a new direction for the band whoever they chose with that LP sound. I think it’s gonna be great and I can’t fuckin wait! I’m here for it all day every day!! LP for life… RIP Chester
Exactly and for this that say 'Linkin Park can't continue without Chester' that's not for us to decide. This is their life and if they want to continue, honestly good on them.
@@metpachThere’s a lot of bands that continue with long tenured but not OG members like Sepultura. Lorna Shore doesn’t have any original members. Lynyrd Skynyrd has one. Megadeth has Dave, but are they really a band or his solo project and session musicians? If that’s the way you’re going to look at it…
@@toyotaecw Actually Skynyrd last original member died last year. I have issues with Dave constantly kicking ppl out of the band. Ironically, in Lorna Shore's case. It wasn't till Will Ramos joined that they became Lorna Shore.
Interesting.... I imagine that Shinoda and the rest of the band got together, met this new vocalist and liked what they saw in that vocalist and saw that the individual is a perfect fit. I trust that Linkin Park is making the right choice in vocalist.
They don’t want a Chester copycat. They just want another really good vocalist who isn’t gonna try and copy Chester, and Mike isn’t going to trust a male vocalist to be himself rather than try and sound like Chester.
Agreed let it go if the other band members want to go on change the name seen this with other bands like imagine trying to replace Kurt cobain, no it would never be the same
They won't try to capture Chester's voice. You can't, his voice was one of a kind. But to be able to have someone honor it, and tribute and bring their music back tot he masses....yeah
Given the band’s constant answering to missing Chester and Shinoda’s popular stream clip on his thoughts/feelings I don’t believe there is a single concern on this in any way.
Chester had 6 kids with two wives, and 2 of his daughters and 1 of his sons did projects with 2 different bands/artists a couple years ago.His older kids would be old enough by now to turn up doing this.Tho how cool would it be for one of his own kids to take over for their Dad? Anything's possible...
Felt the heart pounding yesterday. I've been listening to them for almost 20 years, since I was a little kid. They are more than just my favourite band. I'm so damn excited for Wednesday!
As much as I love LP, I don’t know man.. I’ve been a major fan for 20+ years and I goddamn miss Chester so much, like many of us do. But who knows, maybe this new vocalist will blow us away. You can’t replace Chester but maybe you don’t need to, this could be a new era for LP. I’m very excited for news anyway and I’d love for LP to come back, Chester would’ve loved that ❤ LP for life, Chester for life!
Huge linkin park fan and have been since 2001. Wonder that the news will be. Not sure that ill be a fan of their new stuff but glad they didnt quit on themselves.
I’m gonna place bets that it’s Deryck Whibley from Sum 41… he’s one of few that can do Chester’s vocals justice. If not, then the best of luck to whoever gets to fill them shoes as it’s a tall order!
I've been saying that ever since I saw Derek perform at the tribute to Chester also a few years back Sum 41 did a show where they brought Mike on stage to perform Faint. It was different but at the Sametime felt right.
Deryck Whibley is going to make an announcement Wednesday too, so looks like it might be Linkin Park & friends. There could be a female singer on board as well which identity has yet to be revealed.
I personally feel they’ve gone for a female vocalist cuz most guys couldn’t reach the vocal range that Chester could do….he was something else….a very talented and special singer!! I’m not saying there isn’t a male vocalist out there that could do the job but too many people are going to expect a Chester copy…..that I think is wrong! But a female vocalist could hit all the right notes without trying to sound like Chester and bring something new and a powerful that would do Chester proud 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 (Added note: I was right about it being a female singer!!!! Boom!!!)
@@itsCurtisAvila charisma and stage presence is defo what a new singer needs to live up to, but I don’t think there are many men that could match Chester’s vocals for an entire gig, they might be able to do the odd song but not a full set and still sound good at the end or even an encore. I’m not saying there aren’t any that could do it just not very many so the choices are slim, there’d be more females to choose from.
I feel MOST of us are ready even as a tribute to Chester. The fans who want to sit and mope about it really need to move past his passing, he is not coming back and that's just a fact.
@@trendmassacre8423 I am ready and I think after 7 years, it is a really good time. 4 is too little, 8 would look almost like 10 so a huge gap... seven is fair
I think Derryck Whibley from sum41 might be the next LP vocalist : A) He's around the same age B) His vocal register (not as good as chesters) is still kinda similar C) Sum41 will disband D) Derryck has already covered linkin park songs and he's nailed it E) He's a good songwriter ( +20million albums) He should be the natural progression unless they are looking for something totally different like female vocalist or guest vocalists
I love Sum 41's music but Danny Case from From Ashes to New does Chester's vocals way better than Derryck. Plus part of the reason Derryck hung up Sum 41 is health issues; that aside, Derryck didn't even do the vocals on the breakdown of a song he performed with Linkin Park, so I don't think he can do Chester's screams. Danny Case, however, can (look up their cover of "Faint", and when he did the scream from "Given Up").
@@paivioselanne i see derek fitting better especially if he contributes musically. Chuck/screaming bloody murder type of songs... hes a solid pop/ rock songwriter who has the pedigree of writting hit songs and sellig millions of records. I just checked sum41s Instagram and it might be announced tomorrow (i could be wrong)
Personally, I'm not trying not get my hopes up that they'll actually be returning, mostly because this comes after I've convinced myself they never would, but if this is true, I'm here for it. It's also worth noting that this year is the 20th anniversary of Collision Course-so I wouldn't rule out this big announcement having something to do with that. Whatever the case though....LP for life
I doubt it's Ame Lee, from my understanding she doesn't scream I have heard a few songs from Evanescence. I think it's a different female singer who can scream and sing with a raspy voice.
she said she wasn't asked, so doubtful, but she can scream, she's done it a few times(like in the song Tourniquet) though I doubt she can do it to the level Chester could. Maybe she could get through the bridge on One step closer, but I'm sure Faint and Given Up would be too much for her. Plus it would likely be a singer who isn't currently committed to another full time band.
@@cameronhitz3509 It's Bring me to Life, and that's Paul McCoy of 12 Stones doing the male vocals. Mike Shinoda was originally asked to do it, but he refused.
Amy Lee can scream. She screamed after the breakdown in "Tourniquet" on Fallen, and in early 2000s live performances she would scream (sometimes even growl) the "Don't let me die here!" line from "Bring Me to Life".
When they did that memorial concert way back, I really thought Deryck Whibley from Sum 41 was the closest to Chester that night, and with Sum 41 ending, it would make sense
LP have always been very creative while keeping in mind the current trends and circumstances. Of course we all love Chester's voice, but I'm sure that whatever they create will be fresh, extraordinary and most probably great.
I hope it’ll be like the black Sabbath situation. They lost oz and they got Dio. Made new music that was updated. Didn’t try to sound like Oz and they released heaven & Hell, which is a masterpiece. And a really great follow up mob rules, and then later on Dehumanizer. I don’t think they’re gonna go to all this trouble to try to reproduce with Chester did going in a whole Nother direction.
This is scary but very exciting!! It’s just been so long:) I think a new direction/sound would be best! A new singer trying to sound like Chester would feel not right but I’m so ready to see Mike and the rest of the band jamming again!
The best candidate I can think of that sounds closest to Chester is Danny Case of the band From Ashes To New. He’d be a great fit for Linkin Park imo if he wasn’t already in his current band.
It'll never be the same but I think it's good for the rest of them to "get back on the horse". I wish them good luck and hope they do well in their future endeavors.
I personally feel Linkin Park is going to pick new vocalist. However Chester is living in our hearts and I believe he would be happy with this decision.
I’m just saying I think it’s Bobby Amaru from Saliva. Soon after the countdown dropped, Bobby dropped a SICK cover on his instagram absolutely doing Chester justice. Another clue is that Mike Shinoda had Bobby and Veda Amaru over to jam earlier this year . I’d be surprised if he isn’t the fill in
I'd love if it's a female vocalist if rumoured. Someone who can hit those notes and have that vocal range required for LP songs, but would also have charisma and stage presence, but would bring an unique charm of their own and not just be replicating Chester. That'd possibly bring an interesting and fresh dynamic to the band.
How messed up would it be if at the end of the 100 hour countdown Mike comes out with the rest of the band and says they have talked and decided not to get back together lol. I know that isn’t what is going to happen and I am extremely excited to see this band continue
Idk man ,it's like the movies "point break "without Swayze or "The crow" without Brandon Lee .. you just dont mess with perfection ... But who knows maybe the new singer will be decent .
i personally wanted to have a documentary history DVD compilation/interviews of Linkin Park coming out on Wednesday or maybe Making of Singles (Including Papercut and SOTD) DVD but i hope if theres Papercut part 2, i would included another single that hasn't been added in the first one in my opinion.
I'm conflicted. On one hand LP without Chester doesn't sound like something that I could get behind. However, LP playing old stuff with someone else probably should be a thing. Music that Chester was involved in being played for people to enjoy would be a good tribute to Chester. Looking forward to seeing what they have coming.
Ok, I gotta admit I had never heard of Dry Cell before this comment, but I looked them up and you're totally right, I can see him do justice to Chester's songs
Nobody can replace Chester but the original singer from "From Ashes To New", Chris something... (I can't remember his last name) has a heavy Chester feel to his vocals in From Ashes To New's first album. He would do some justice for those giant shoes.
I was just talking with my girlfriend about the LP rumors earlier today while we were running errands. We came across Numb on the radio and started listening to it and that's what sparked the conversation. I guess something is happening at least. I just think it's funny as I was probably talking about it as that timer was being put up.
Not sure how many people have heard of them, but Trash Boat covered Given Up, and Tobi Duncan did a surprisingly good job. I wouldn’t be opposed if he’s the new vocalist, although considering they have a new album on the way and a tour planned, I don’t think it’ll be him
Linkin Park is my favorite band. I have reservations about a potential reboot (if that's what this really is), but I trust the guys in the band enough to, at the very least, give it a chance. A little optimism never hurt.
The title of the video is Ø. Xero was a self titled EP by Xero who became Hybrid Theory and finally LP. This has to mean something; hopefully a return to their roots! Fingers crossed. I hope it doesn’t mean they’re getting Mark back…
There are so, SO many opinions down in the coments:) -at last -so unexpected -its not LP witout Chester -its LP reunion finally -yes it's female singer -no female singer please -please amy lee -dont take amy lee -its lizzy hale -its not lizzy hale -want LP to play heavy stuff again -dont play heavy stuff again People! Chill out and wait. Don't judge, don't hate, don't have high expectations, just wait. All decisions are made, all the line up choices are agreed. At least LP reunion is better than the Static-X reunion.
They are gonna need a vocalist that knows how to scream since linkin park has a lot of songs that have screams in them. Now I'm very curious on who the vocalist can be
Man every time Linkin Park has some sort of announcement it's either a re-release of music or they're promoting something Mike has done. If they're coming back cool but I'm not getting my hopes up unfortunately
I would like to see Spencer Sotello from Periphery take a crack at singing for them. Whoever they choose, if that is what they’re doing, will be interesting for sure.
Amy Lee would be cool but it honestly makes no sense cause you’d need someone who could scream too if they plan on playing the older material. I think the one that makes more sense, even though it’s probably a bit of a stretch, is Bonnie from Stand Atlantic. She did that live performance with Mike Shinoda for his solo album and they jammed Bleed It Out, and she handled Chester’s part very very well. Can’t wait to see who it is though!!!
Well, they've been posting about Bleed It Out for a long time. I think they're gonna re-release Minutes To Midnight with bonus material like they did with the first 2 albums
Not in 2024. They released special editions of Hybrid Theory and Meteora with all the demos and such on the 20th anniversary of the albums. Minutes to Midnight was released May 14, 2007, so we got about two years and 9ish months before they give that album the same treatment if they're going to follow the pattern they've established.
I don't imagine they'll play many old songs live whomever it is because the audience will be extra sad and maybe cry to a lot of them. I mean some songs were kind of already appropriate to cry to live, but you want people crying for the purpose of the song not for other reasons. I think the ideal candidate will help bring in a younger audience without making the band feel old if the person is too young. They would ideally have a rock and roll life and style but not be a crazy hard partier because LP are older with families now. They would lack rock star ego. They should be able to sing all the tones that Mike isn't good at (high pitch & screaming). I think they will pick a solo artist or someone from a band that is broken up because they don't want to break up any major band which would upset some people. I think the person chosen can't sound too much exactly like Chester, or it will be like an uncanny valley situation and be more awkward the closer they sound. I think going with a female helps in that regard and also Chester usually sang so high pitch it was more in the register of a female singing. Being female would also help them from feeling like they are standing in someone else's shoes as much and the audience from feeling as awkward about such. Hmm, my best guess after considering for a few minutes, Kailee Moore aka Kailee Morgue. She doesn't typically sing like Chester, but she has shown she can in the In My Head collab with Mike. I think she fits my list of possible goals well enough.
I noticed a lot of us mentioning something to do with Minutes To Midnight….. hear me out. What about the 10-year anniversary of The Hunting Party? Or the upcoming 15-year anniversary of A Thousand Suns? Any potential there???
The only way for them to do this tastefully is continuing under a different name, otherwise half the fanbase will be upset they're replacing Chester since Linkin Park isn't Linkin Park without him.
They were the closest to him besides family This needs to be a clean break from that amazing history So the family , band members and fans move forward to what I believe to be even a greater future
It's important to remember that the new singer 100% knows they won't match up to or replace Chester and that's likely not their intention anyway. I can't begin to imagine the comments they're going to get, please remember to be nice. And this is coming from someone who named their first child Chester.
I mean I'm all for more LP but LP has always been a vibe. a very specific vibe that made them who they are as a staple in music. a female singer could work, but not someone like amy lee, she just doesn't fit the vibe and I really hope LP takes that vibe (do a shot every time I say vibe) into consideration moving forward to preserve themselves as a legacy band
Long time die hard fan from the beginning here. Prediction time. It will be a female vocalist OR Chesters son. Tour announcement with new album will be announced. This is wishful thinking and hopefully I'm right! ❤❤
@@ModRockfan1992 she went hard in to religion and is part of focus on the family which is only a couple steps away from beign a full blown anti-lgbt hate group
Opinions and controversies aside (not going to comment on any of that, not here to argue), Flyleaf just got back together with her, so while she could do the vocals (her screams and growls have always been crazy), I'm not sure if she can front two bands at the same time.
I totally disregarded this countdown bc I thought it was just gonna be another catalog drop, since the 2020s era of social media has tended to put the giant hype into the tiniest fanfare. Never was expecting a whole comeback with a new singer, ever. I watched through the stream and she so fits all the post-Meteora albums. The strongest divide happening at MTM anyway and such was the argument for nearly 20 years now, it's become childish. Only Linkin Park could accommodate this full diversity in their sound, despite all the stupid backlash for so long. Contrary to the current haters, I don't mind the rebirth of LP this way, but will take some time getting used to calling it "Linkin Park." But getting a perfect clone of Chester's voice for the *actual band* itself, not a tribute band, would insult his memory completely.
They should get Deryck from Sum 41 to be the new singer. Sum 41's cover of Faint is a pretty good example of him being a good fit. The only issue is I don't think Deryck can scream, at least on the same level as Chester...
