The dead will rise first. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So the dead , in Christ, have already risen. I used to think that we would watch them rise but, I believe they already are risen. Anyone?

51Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. -- 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (KJV) The church that's here when Christ returns will be caught up and be glorified . - 1: ἀλλάσσω (Strong's #236 - Verb - allasso - al-las'-so ) "to make other than it is" (from allos, "another"), "to transform, change," is used (a) of the effect of the Gospel upon the precepts of the Law, Acts 6:14; (b) of the effect, on the body of a believer, of Christ's return, 1 Corinthians 15:51,52; (c) of the final renewal of the material creation, Hebrews 1:12; (d) of a change in the Apostle's mode of speaking (or dealing), Galatians 4:20 . In Romans 1:23 it has its other meaning, "to exchange."

I also "grew up" (well, from the age of 18) on the Pre Trib Rapture view. It's only in more recent years that I even heard there were other views. And it's true, there's nothing in the Bible that actually teaches the Rapture in that way. There's just the Second Coming. But you can't tell that to people who are steeped in the Rapture view. They nearly have a stroke. They won't even countenance any other view. It's extraordinary. Anyway, I've been longing for His return for 38 years now. How much longer?! This miserable world is unbearable! Look at our country (America) right now. It's an absolute disaster. I can't take this evil anymore. RC is so fortunate to be Home.

I fully support the post tribulation position. “And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place ( let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather. “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭4‬-‭24‬, ‭26‬, ‭28‬-‭31‬ ‭ESV‬‬ bible.com/bible/59/mat.24.5-31.ESV

Holy Scriptures teach us there is a distinct break in the plan of God for the Jews and for the church. Read this in the 70th week of . Daniel When the Jews rejected the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah, they were set aside. Right now the Church is the centre of God’s program. But God has not abandoned the promises he made to the nation of Israel. He is faithful and he will do what he said, “for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” (Romans. 11:29). When God again turns his attention to the Jewish nation, it will be a time for purging out unbelievers and bringing wrath upon a rebellious world. None of this has anything to do with the church. God did not make land promises to the church. God did not make protection and prosperity promises to the church. That was all to the Jewish nation alone. Therefore, the church has no reason to be in the Tribulation. This is why I believe other Scriptures (outside of Matthew 24) speak of the church being raptured out of the earth before the tribulation. Line upon line precept upon precept

Mark 16.1 ¶And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre AT THE RISING OF THE SUN. Luke24.1¶Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. Mark 16.1-2 and Luke 24.1-2 are a match because it is the women bringing the spices. Mark 16.2 tells us it was AT THE RISING OF THE SUN Mat 28. 1¶In the end of the sabbath, AS IT BEGAN TO DAWN toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. Jhn 20.1¶The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Jhn 20.1-2 stands alone "when it was yet dark" , she arrives at the tomb when it is dark and the tomb is empty. She is not alone verse 2 says "we know not". Pete and John tear off for the tomb, Mary follows them. Verse Jhn 20.11matches all the other verses related to AS IT BEGAN TO DAWN Mat.12.38¶Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39¶But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. THREE DAYS, THREE NIGHTS Mat 16.21¶From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. RAISED ON THE THIRD DAY 27.63Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. AFTER THREE DAYS Mark 8.31¶And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. AFTER THREE DAYS Luke 9.21¶And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; 22Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. RAISED THE THIRD DAY Luke18.31¶Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. 32For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: 33And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. THE THIRD DAY The sign of Jonah by itself is very specific, to land on a day you have to begin with a night. No choice here. Then add "after three days" it's more and more detailed. The big difference between Sunday morning and Friday evening is the half day difference. To get a Sunday morning resurrection, you have to do away with part of the sign of Jonah. Sundown Friday to sunup Sunday is one day and a half. Thursday to Sunday two and half days Wednesday to Sunday three and half days Only one choice left Wednesday at just before sundown to Saturday at just before sundown Wednesday was the 14th, Saturday is the Sabbath the 17th He raises those at Mat 27.52-53 after His resurrection. After sundown the 18th (the morrow after the Sabbath) Lev.23.9-12 Peace

With fear and trepidation that I will raise the ire of many brothers and sisters: I followed Dr. Sproul and loved his teaching for years and still am greatly helped by his teaching. However, I am confused with this particular teaching episode/series as it seems to stand in opposition to Dr. Sproul's other teaching series 'The Last Days According to Jesus'. That series lead me (and many others I read of) to partial and then full preterism. R. C. claimed partial or moderate preterism and explained the Arch of Titus that celebrated the Roman conquest of the Jews in Israel, Jerusalem and the Temple being destroyed AD 70. So is R. C. here speaking of Thessalonian's and the man of sin sitting in the Temple as either the Old Covenant Temple - pre AD70, the Church as Temple (living / Spiritual) or a future rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem? AND, So, maybe like John Piper and Doug Wilson and many others, R. C. is positing another coming apart from the recognized AD 70 coming under the idea of dual / multiple fulfillments? This is very important as we have had this blessed hope for 720,000 +days now. My blessed hope is more affixed to my eventual departure and to be with Christ not waiting for an event so far has been long and not forth coming as the immanence and the AD 70 historical ending of the Old Covenant as in the NT suggests. Love br. David - Canada.

Slowly I'm drifting away from the idea of pre-tribulation rapture it seems almost cowardly the way some folk in my church talk about it. "It's coming, thank God I won't be here to worry about it!" I think if we don't prepare our minds for the worst we'll fold when it comes.
@Yesica1993
@Yesica1993 3 месяца назад
I went down that path, myself. The thing is, my original church didn't make a huge deal of it. That's what I appreciated. I'm not sure if it was stated outright, but there was a general sense that Christians could differ on the specifics without being nasty and even breaking fellowship. That was always my approach. Unfortunately, and especially since RU-vid came along, I've learned how nasty people can be over this topic! I don't see the need for that. We can respectfully disagree. As long as Jesus is coming back, I'm not so much worried about when and how!
@Yesica1993

Also, even though I "grew up" (I was saved at 18) mostly hearing the pre-Trib view, I did not grow up hearing much of the "we're escaping" mentality. I'm trying to think back, but I don't think it was much preached about, that I recall. The main attitude was always whatever we believed about the specifics of the End Times, we were to live all-out for Jesus. No sitting around waiting for the Rapture. I think that's the healthiest approach. Now that I've been learning more about Post-Trib views, there is the attitude that the Pre-Trib side really is just sitting around waiting for the Rapture. That bothered me at first, since I never was around that type of attitude. However, now that things are getting so bad in the world, especially since Covid, I am starting to see more of the hoping for the Rapture attitude. I can't blame people. Everything seems to be getting worse every day. The difficulty is many Pre-Trib folks won't even CONSIDER another view. That's what gets me. At least the few times I've tried to discuss it, there's not even a willingness to do so. That is worrying.

"Working until *whatever* happens". It's genuine. If I'm not careful I can get ducked into the whole debate and argument, it's happened before. Thanks for the clarity. M sunday school teacher is a firm pre-trib. Thinker, but he does honestly advocate that we remain faithful above all else. I can stand with that view for sure. 💙 thanks for being willing to discuss it.

People get yourself a study bible and read the Word of God for yourself and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of God’s Word to you. Revelation 6-19: There will be a 7 year period of the wrath of God upon the earth Revelation 7-14, Matt.24:21: The latter half is called the great tribulation . The 7 years will be broken up into 2 sets of 3 1/2 years. The first 31/2 years- the antichrist will give Israel false peace which they will accept and him as their messiah ( Israel is still waiting for the Messiah). In the Latter 31/2 years he will reveal himself . Read this in Daniel 9:24-27. The phrase “ to keep from” supports the pre- trib rapture of the church. Daniel 9:24-27:This period of the tribulation is the same as Daniel’s 70th week and the time of Jacob’s trouble, Jeremiah 30:7

“Get a Study Bible and read the word of God yourself”. People use study bibles to read the commentaries and understanding of others to assist them. That isn’t reading the word of God yourself. I like study bibles. But reading the text yourself first, without help or the study notes is the way to go. Study notes then help put things together. Especially difficult passages. Now, depends on the study Bible you have. A scolfield will produce very different notes than Sproul’s Reformation Study Bible or ESV Study Bible etc.
