Hi Grant, I worked with silicone mold making for years in the artist days. Mixing is usually done by hand/stick to prevent whipping bubbles into the mix. The "Bombs Away" method of pouring is a high drop from about 2 feet causing the pour to narrow towards the bottom which squeezes out any trapped air. Also, we did half casts. 1/2 the mold full, cure then thin releases agent, paper or Vaseline was placed on the cured flat part where the second pour meets. This allows for a perfect split when side 2 is cured. There are also slowing agents that only lengthen the "work time" allowing slower mixing and pouring. The final cure time is the same. Eventually the oxygen becomes used up and no more can get in there, the organisms using it inside have to either resort to anerobic respiration or simply die out. Hopefully they die out, or else you get botulism.

Yeah...about eating this..... I'm 100% sure you degassed the silicone into the chicken. Worked in a polymer science lab for some years. You don't want to eat that. at least if you plan on living long, and having healthy children. Most degassification precipitates are also teratogenic, meaning they change your foetal phenotype.

For the gummy casting, you should drill holes in the mold from the outside to the wing tips and drumstick tips. The holes will allow air to escape so the wings and legs won't have voids.

interesting fact: if you need to choose between 2 days rice or 2 days chicken, choose chicken, bacterias in chicken die after cook and take long time to return, in the other hand rice's don't die just cooking.

This wouldn't really preserve it at all. The turkey is already full of air and bacteria and moisture, locking all that inside a block of silicon would preserve it about as well as putting it in a ziploc bag.

Grant, try pouring silicone in a tool drawer to do a shadow cast. I know it's not as fun as the chicken but I haven't seen it anywhere on RU-vid; and it can turn out to be a practical project where people can organize their tools.

It was NOT a vacuum. The air was INSIDE the chicken so I am sure it would start or started to decay and stink INSIDE but you tasted only the outside part.

i was taken ill into hospital with compilobactor food poisoning from an undercooked chicken i know chicken is is a risky product to reheat so me personally inwouldnt recommend it just incase your week follows with tummy ache and diohreah
