When Barbossa called Carina treasure, it reminded Jack's lone to Will in the first movie: "Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate." 💜

I love how Barbossa's sacrifice here is a complete mirror to Blackbeard in the previous movie, Barbossa readily sacrifices himself for his daughter despite having known her for barely any time at all, while Blackbeard is fully prepared to sacrifice his daughter for his own sake without hesitation.

I love how Jack adresses Barbossa as Hector. The respect between those two. The ending made this whole movie.

Will and Elizabeth's reunion hit even harder for me cause I saw these movies in theaters, and there is exactly 10 years between the release of the 3rd movie and 5th movie, so I had to wait 10 years to see them reunited, just like the characters were cursed to wait 10 years to see each other again.

0:05 - It is called Salazar’s Revenge in The UK. “Dead man tell no tales” apparently sounded too threatening to the movie board for the rating.

The cast and crew loved having Paul McCartney on set as Jack's uncle for a day, he was telling jokes, stories and singing.

What this franchise reaction showed me is that we need more franchise reactions on the channel! Such a fun journey! 💜

My theory on how they were going to bring Davy Jones back is that when Davy Jones "died", he fell into the sea hole (Whirlwind) created by Calypso. Octopuses, however, have 2 hearts. Therefore, the stabbed heart was his human heart. He still had his octopus heart left. But when he fell from the ship, he was trapped in a curse created by Calypso. Now that the curses were destroyed, so was the curse he was trapped in (But with his octopus heart, that's why he still has that shape). I suppose Davy Jones would seek revenge against Will since he has his ship and his crew. A last film would have been excellent to close the saga. Excellent reaction. I actually love this movie! I loved the ending! Loved the Barbossa reveal. and I loved freeing Will.

The reason why some people don't like this movie is because Jack is just kind of a baffoon throughout. The charm in the previous movies is the idea that no one really knows whether Jack plans everything out or is just incredibly lucky and stumbles through everything (typically a little of both). Here he's just treated a bit like a clown and he doesn't have many stoic moments. Granted they did introduce Jack at a low point being drunk all the time and not having a ship or crew so that could have been the explanation, but that could've also been addressed more by giving him a character arc.

I wonder if the curse on the aztec gold is lifted as well 🎉🎉 On another note, Barbossa was already resurrected by Calypso - in At World's End, Calypso/Tiadalma showed us how Barbossa looked like without her power. That resurrection was technically a curse, so it probably broke with all the other curses of the sea. So Barbossa is permanently dead, in my opinion, you can't resurrect an already resurrected person.

No it wasn't the fall that was improvised, it was the whole "I've got a jar of dirt" part that was improvised.

I don't know if you were aware of it but, Javier Bardem (Captain Salazar), also plays one of the main characters (Stilgar) in the new "Dune" movies.

Kaya Scodelario is an amazing actress… you should check out The gentleman movie & series next Another fun fact: Penelope cruz was in the last as angelica and her husband is in this one as Salazar.

Finally got around to binging these reactions. Always great to see you guys go on these journeys!

The main problems of this movie: 1) Curse. We must remember the job that Davy Jones took wasn’t a curse. It was an obligation, a duty, a job but he corrupted his purpose and you could consider him “cursed”. So the reason why Will is become what he is completely unexplained. 2) Jack is being more stupid and flat as a character. That can be understandable if you consider that story now shifted main focus to Henry. 3)The story is a loop but shorter. The whole break my father's curse and be with love of my love is already happened with Will and Elizabeth and it took 3 movies for them and now Henry does all of this in one movie. It may be poetic from certain point of view and in context of Jack's phrase that "it's not the world getting smaller, there's just less in it." As for the good things in the movie (personal take) 1) Design of Salazar and his crew is really good, the animation of hair as if it's underwater or undead birds and sharks are cool. 2) Hector is always welcomed, he's in every movie and always consistent yet changing through movies. He's always a pirate that values freedom and treasure, he's smart and charismatic. But each movie his treasure is different from literally retaining senses and feelings to saving his life to saving his family.

I just realized watching it with you that the witch who gave barbossa the compass asked him "is it the treasure worth dying for?" And barbossa died for his treasure Carina🥺🥺🥲🥲

Fun fact, the Davy Jones teaser at the end was used as a setup for the sea of thieves cross-over, which ended with Jack creating a portal with the fairy dust from Peter Pan

i think the main problems in this film are the plot holes. Just to say some: in the other movies jack gives away the compass a lot of times and nothing happened, the compass itself is given to jack from calypso, there's no reason for will to be cursed since he didnt currupted his purpose. other problems are, in my opinion, that Jack himself is more stupid than "weird" in this film, and that the couple henry-carina does not work well like will-elizabeth. Still a great finale in my opinion. last Jack's line (i have a randevouz beyond my beloved horizon) is a reference to the last line in the first film that i loved. (sorry if i made some mistakes, english is not my first language)

People don't realise that in the end of last movie angelica gets the doll of Jack sparrow and now she's done some voodoo shi on him to bring bad luck on him.. that's how he hit rock bottom in the beginning.

Having re-watched these with you two has been a fun journey. I am a Sea of Thieves Player, so I guess I could head cannon that the return of Davy Jones and the continuation of Jack's adventures is the Pirates of the Caribbean quest in Sea of Thieves. It was a fun questline!

4 and 5 weren't bad but they just lacked the charm of the first 3 I feel.

Now imagine waiting 10 years real time to finally see them reunite at the end. The emotions you received pale in comparison to those who were there 10,000 yea- i mean 10 years ago.

I'm so glad you both enjoyed Pirates 5. The movie overall has never quite hit right with me, but that ending scene with Will and Elizabeth is so satisfying and chokes me up every time.

What I don’t like about the movie is the things they ret-conned. Most for no point. The worst is what they did to Will. No way Will would abandon his purpose in the Dutchman. That was done due to lazy writing just to add tension and to the storyline. Also, are we supposed to forget Calypso clearly saying she gave Jack the compass?

I heard Johnny Depp would ONLY return for a 6th movie IF Disney made a Public Apology for firing him.

The thing is...Davy Jones' heart was stabbed human or no, so him returning makes absolutely no sense...I know they could literally do anything, but this stuff is retconned so much.

I love that post credit ending cuz the way I interpreted it is that there may have been consequences to breaking those curses by destroying the trident, what many people don’t know is that not every curse is evil some are good and beneficial many of them exist for a reason and if just more then one curse under the tridents charge were broken it could have done more harm then good.

You were mentioning cameos in the movies and I am not sure if you have heard this or not but the man who played Jack Sparrow’s father in one of the movies was Keith Richards, who is one of the founding members and guitarist for The Rolling Stones.

The movie is kind of flat to me but the ending is awesome. Basically cried with happiness when we got to see first Will and then Elizabeth at the end 🥺🥺

I don’t know if anyone has told you both this but I remember watching your reaction to the first one you recognized Will as Legolas from the Lord of the Rings well the British guy that was set on killing Henry and Karina is Farimir Boromir’s brother from the Lord of the Rings and the member of Jack’s crew that talks about Barbossa’s cannonballs and is holding Scrums foot before they try to take his toenail is the actor who played the Dwarf Ori in the Hobbit. And the mayor guy whose wife was in the safe with Jack is the actor who plays the mouth of Sauron.

They could make 6 anime style. Never underestimate how powerful an anime could be

The ending scene was clearly added by producers. The Trident ends all curses so there's no logic to get that character back in that scene. Maybe they planned to make like a spin-off of this character's youth.

I fully understand when actors don’t watch their shows or movies. I’d get sick of it the sense that they film this stuff for months. I’d be over it and not want to watch it. I know some actors talk on it. Some like seeing the special effects and some just cringe at seeing themselves. 4 is definitely that side story that doesn’t need to be seen, but still good.

Great reaction, i could totally see Will hearing about the adventure and who was involved and realizing he should have been there to help (possbily save Barbossa, his son's future father in law) since it's all partially his mess. Headcanon character development moment we'll never get to see on screen.

People tend to forget that if first time watchers take the advise to just watch the first 3 then skip to the fifth, they are going to be so confused as to why Barbossa has such a powerful presence on the sea and why the Black Pearl is in a bottle in the last movie.

This movie destroyed Jack, he is always drunk and achieves things only by luck. In the past movies he always used his mind to defeat his enemys. And who needed will and Elizabeth to come back, their story had a perfect ending.

You guys should watch The Lone Ranger (2013), featuring Johnny Depp as Tonto and from the director of the first 3 Pirates movies. It’s a good time with great over the top action like Pirates, but western.

Now, i don't like this movie, it feels like a product instead of a movie. But i wanted to point out what feels especially wrong here. My list of everything wrong with this movie (which i could recall from memory): -This Movie destroyed Jack beyond repair, he was drunk before and down on his luck before, but never has he been this much of a bumbling planless idiot. -The Movies objective (Trident) is stupid and OP for no reason. "Stores every curse in the sea" my ass, where was this thing when they were cursed in Pirates 1? especially since Barbossa was a Horologist himself, wouldn't he have wanted to find it to lift his 10 Year long Curse? Scratch that, where was this thing in Pirates 2 or 3 for that matter, screw the Heart of Davy Jones, they could have made that meaningless with the trident. The East India Trading Company would probably have been at the mercy of piracy with that thing. -Will appearently disregarded his responsibility, because he looks undersea-like -Will appearently can't command his Crew anymore, despite being their captain??? -Salazars Curse isn't explained beyond "trapped and free when compass given away but still undead" and also he has undead sharks for some reason. -The Compasses origin Story is just a retcon over Pirates 2 -That Jack knows about Barbossas Girlfriend makes not too much sense (Granted, since Carina is the same age as Henry we can assume that Barbossa knocked up someone in Tortuga at the End of Pirates 3, but are you sure Jack would remember that? I'd also assume Barbossa would steal Jacks ship almost immediately, so i don't see much room for getting to know each other again) -That Jacks Crew just accepts him as Captain again at the end also doesn't make any darn sense, like they were against him and made him leave the ship, why did they like him at the end? -Uncle Jack -The humor is forced as heck, there used to be a time where the humour would be derived from comic relieve characters or Jacks "acting like a fool" moments, but this time around all main characters are basically comic relieve and Jack actually IS a fool. -The journey to the Trident feels empty and without direction, it's just like "Ayo Carina say's that way because stars" and i dare you to name another important goal nearing achievement beyond the bloodmoon Scene in prison at the start. TL:DR: This Movie is surface Level and dumb, it disregards what came before while being nowhere near as thoughtout.

I actually didn't really dislike Stranger Tides, but I don't like this one because they kind of just blatantly ignored what the whole idea of the Flying Dutchman was. The reason Davy Jones and his crew became like sea creatures is because he abandoned his duties. When Will became the captain he broke that curse, and I can only assume he has been fulfilling his duties so it makes no sense that he would be physically affected the way he was. Also the actual role of the Flying Dutchman and it's captain was never really a curse like they say, there was a reason for it, which was to guide souls to the next life. Then there's Jack, sure they make him goofy and have crazy moments, but it's like they just turn him into a comic relief besides having him actually having skills and being a trickster. It's like they saw the surface level stuff of pirates like the goofy funny moments, and the magic and they wanted to bring back beloved characters and have some kind of poetic finale but just threw a movie together without paying any attention to the past continuity or what made the others good.

Almost the whole movie was filmed in Australia! It was the only Pirates movie to do so

I would love to watch another movie with Jack and Barbosa they do so well together.

The fourth film serves to explain the missing leg and the pearl in the bottle. I did miss Pintel and Ragetti in the fifth film but the soldiers from the dock made up a bit.

the Devil's Triangle is an cursed place. yes ,Salazar was death, but because the power and the cursed of the Triangle he came back to live , more powerfull than he was an living man. With the curse , Salazar is immortal ,he unkillable ( nothing can kill him , no guns , no swords ) he can pass through solide things, he run in water he can bring death shark alive and control them and he can also make his ship TOTALLY UNDESTRUCTIBLE, hhis ship can rise his front part like an Cobra King and eat others ships that make Salazar the most powerfull and the most dangerous character of all the POTC franchise 😍

So how exactly do the souls of the dead get to afterlife if there's no "curse" of the Flying Dutchman. Also unless there was a big time skip then Will and Elizabeth's son should've been like 10 years old, and if there was a big time skip then the original cast looks suspiciously young
