Women that end up being smashed on camera for money for millions of men that don't care about them to beat their meat to usually aren't the sharpest tools in the box.
My favourite line is when they’re interviewing Reed and he’s like ‘I can fk on my own time - i’m a magician’ 😝😝 i literally laughed my drink through my nose it was so funny. Reilly is a genius.
@@keeganshigh well, the part where he asks- while in the process of *smoking from a distinctly shaped glass pipe* during a supposed deal for the same substance. Maybe the reference is only subtle to guys who answer “yeah I love parties!” anytime someone says “do you party” and… (Double take) please clarify your user name 🧐😅
I love the steadycam shot at pool party with Spill The Wine where the girl dives underwater and the song literally gets all bubbly like its underwater too. Brilliant.
Force....FORCE PTA to sit down with you guys and spend 3 hours asking every question about every minute. More than the old Director commentary, let's get a definitive back and forth with him. If we need to gofundme some cash to get him, let's do it.
The context lead me to believe that Ryan was just reassuring Simmons he doesn't have to worry about time for this pod. But I would be devistated if it was the last one
I won't abide any Melora Walters shade. Is Jessie St Vincent a shallow character? Yeah, but she's perfectly portrayed, and you just know she's one those girls with daddy issues that was drawn to the adult scene seeking acceptance. Plus, everyone knows that sunrises are better than sunsets and she's the one who brings that notion home.
Per casting what ifs with rolelrgirl: every other person up besides Graham had family connection to the industry(Drew Barrymore, Gwenyth Paltrow, Traum O'Neal). Good on PTA for recognizing that feeling of anger and being looked over could not be done properly by them as it could by Graham
I own nearly a hundred laserdiscs, collecting them in the mid-‘90s when Bill was probably spending most of his paycheck on weed. Laserdiscs weren’t expensive by the ‘90s, but DVDs were inexpensive and offered far more content. They do not scratch easily. They’re not as precious as baseball cards; any shop that sells used records will have a few laserdiscs people traded in. I can find gems like _Annie Hall_ or _Avalon_ in their original aspect ratios good as new for $5 each. They were and still are great for film geeks. Like records, there’s something cool about pulling the cover off a shelf, holding the original art in your hands, turning it over, reading about the movie. When I die, they’ll probably end up in a shop around the corner for someone to discover. “Hey, _Scarface_ ! What is this, like, the soundtrack album?”
Yeah, he did 6 months in chino for exposing himself to an 8 year old. When he moved to the neighborhood, he had to go to every house and tell everyone he was a pederast.
55:09 when he asks do they want to play “Baseball “ it is cocaine lingo. It’s freebasing. Basically before people figured out crack, they’d cut coke with ammonia so they could smoke cocaine.
I love Boogie Nights, but Mark Wahlberg was not good enough to warrant an Oscar nomination and definitely not an Oscar win, especially over Jack Nicholson.
"I love you. You love me. Going down the Sugar Tree. We'll go down the Sugar Tree and see lots of bees. Playing... Playing.. But the Bees won't sting. Because you love me." They're all great but, Reed is the best... "I write songs too"..
Recasting Couch possibility. If Downey Jr. comes in as Jack, then put in Tom Holland as Dirk. Can do that innocent yet dumb charm and could play coked out arrogant.
If Dirk, Reed, and Todd were coke heads to the extreme their portrayed here there’s no way Dirk still has the Vette. That’s been sold and they’re having to rely on Scotty J to drive them around.
You guys were awesome! This is my favorite movie of all time and I love thst you guys love it too. Saw it in theaters when I was 6 with my mom. Think she regretted that P.s. 55:56 baseball is freebasing Crack cocaine which he was smoking out of that pipe that looks like a little bong. He didn't really wanna play actual baseball
This was so cringy to watch at moments lol. "Baseball" is where you get in a circle(or a diamond if you're being technical), and when you take a hit, you hold the smoke in until it gets back to you. Very quick way to get elevated. You're welcome
Am I the only one who sees implications of something incestuous btwn Dirk and his mother? Him having a gf drives her batshit crazy. She knows what he's packing. Not saying something ever definitely happened btwn them but her jealousy seems telling.
Interesting take. But my read was Firm's mom was more the malignant narcissist / borderline personality type, who are unable to see other people as anything more than extensions of themselves and their own needs. So they're unable to accept the idea that people in their world developing any kind of relationship where they aren't the center of it.
I don't know. I don't think Dirk and his mother ever DID anything incestuous. However the jealousy she exhibits when she thinks he's out having sex with "That little whore" and "You're not the only one, ya know. I've heard things," clearly trying to drive a wedge. I think she can't take the fact that he's using his "one great thing" on someone else. Just look at her sitting there in the dark, smashing her cigarette into the ashtray, clearly just imaging what he's doing out there. Call me crazy but I think there's more there than just his mother being a monster.
Baseball is referring to smoking free(base). He's freebasing coke. He's just asking if they want a hit, to "...play (free)baseball?" He's not talking about actual baseball.
"Well, Thank you, Eddie", EDIT : I always quote and use "It's a real film, Jack" as a metaphor for something cool we're working on. Boogie Nights is 2.5 hours of quotes. REALLY ???? Molina is freebasing cocaine Richard Pryor style, before society discovered baking soda, so Baseball was slang for free base. Damn, you're young !!! Laser Discs were the digital version of 1970's LP's ; Same size, and you had to turn them over halfway between the movie !!! Great for 1996, but really great ? I sold my player and entire collection at a garage sale in 1996 for $225 - To buy cocaine !!!
I'm in my late 40's and had collected a lot of VHS's, I had decided I was gonna start to head into laserdisc territory but then that's right when I heard about DVDs for the first time, so I figured it was best to just wait a bit longer for those and skip over LDs entirely
My good friend Allen Graf was the NRA guy at the donut shop. He played on the '72 USC national champs and became a stunt man and 2nd unit director of football films like "Any Given Sunday." He wanted to direct the movie version of my book "One Night, Two Teams" but that project has died from legalities.
