Quite a few Switch games work, I’m playing games like Mario vs Donkey Kong, Advance Wars etc… Tip: try playing 16:9 games stretched to 4:3. It’s a literal game changer!
Systems that are great on 1:1 screen as well as Pico-8: GB, GBC, NGPC, vertical arcade, Vectrex. Just saying. Also, 8:7 systems like NES, SNES and PC-Engine fit just as well here as they do on 4:3 screens. Sure, if you mainly play 4:3 systems and wider it's not ideal. But there's a place for this aspect ratio.
Just putting ps2 on mine now. The good thing about the emulator, is that you can manually crop and adjust the stretch yo your personal tolerance. Dolphin unfortunately is either stretch full or 4:3 which is frustrating. Something around 8:7 seems perfect for me
I should've, you're right! My head was too stuck in PS2, but I'll most likely make a follow-up video ranting about that 1:1 screen and what consoles can take the most advantage of it. 🍻
Still hyped for the video even if there are some flaws! That's kinda the theme with anbernic.... I really like "hands view" and the beginning storytime definitely grabs my attention! 😂 Also I call the shape pontoon because it looks like platform of a pontoon boat! I went with the rg556. The amoled screen seemed like it was a little more unique (it was before the rp5 and mini) and would be a good way to play android games. On this screen, dead cells looks and plays well. The game is a fast paced one and the native controls don't betray that at all + you can see the text! All thanks go to the nerds in the discord tho they steered me the right direction 😅
I'm really glad you don't hate the top-down camera, my nerd! ❤️ I'm quite excited to integrate it in future vids tbh. Should make things easier for me rather than crouching at that little table for the hands-on footage! 😆
I said bye to my rg cube bought for 160 pound sold on ebay for 100 my rog ally been sent to the afterlife and i bought an odin 2 mini pro and could not be happier! Yeee yeeeeaaaaaaah.
I've been watching your content for a while idk why I wasn't subbed but I like your chill vibes. I'm waiting a few more price drops to buy this because I actually think this device does have huge potential for what it is and I'm not a huge Anbernic owner/fan.
I've been enjoying lots of DS/3DS games on my Cube, it's basically became the perfect device (aside from original DS hardware) to play Those systems from me. Also your production has really gone up! Great video!
Fair point on the DS/3DS systems! Also thanks! Busted my *cough back cough* syncing that moment where I showed off the little table, glad it seemed smooth! 😆
Yup, you're totally right! Thanks for pointing it out man. I'm a non-native English speaker and it's important for me to do as little linguistical slipups as possible. ❤️
Vlad, love your channel and your content! I’ve started including a link to your channel in my retro handheld videos. My channel is tiny but any love I can help throw your way, the better! Keep up the great work!
P.s your bragging with the top down setup don't make the same dpad mistake please i emplure you😂. Also be extremely careful with downloads etc with the cube and rg556 unisoc are known and notorious for being exceptionally easy to hack and not even fixing the issues when they are Infront of there face good job these don't have phone capabilities aswell.
1:1 excels for a lot of the old systems. Good for Arcade and the systems that were 4:3. Even allows some DS games to fit one screen on top of the other.
I totally agree, the Cube coming pre-rooted is a bit of a problem. I know Anbernic isn't exactly a reputable company, but I also don't think they'd risk all of their sales and entire lineup to include some software that would steal accounts. It's more than reasonable to be wary of that though, I think it's a good idea to be. I'm mostly upset that it comes pre-rooted as it locks out quite a few android-native online games. I was really looking forward to having a little portable Fortnite device, but it's just unable to play it because of Fortnite's anti-cheat. I'm pretty happy you mentioned stretching content to fit the screen as well!! I only recently found out that stretching 4:3 games looks really great on the 1:1 screen. I started playing Paper Mario: TTYD on Dolphin since I've played it about a dozen times on my Gamecube, and I was really shocked to see how it barely altered how the game looks while actually filling the screen. I can't manage it on 16:9, I'm not quite at that level of VladNerd-iness yet, but maybe one day :p
Other than Pico 8 using a 1x1, some of the 16-bit systems look nice under 8x7 ratio, but you can accomplish this with an RGB30. Other than that i have no interest playing PS2 on a 1x1 screen. And, i agree Lost is an awesome series, watched it maybe 2 or 3 times already.
Small correction for 5:53 I think you probably meant "condemn", rather than "condone". "Condone" would mean you are OK with it, but it sounds like you mean the opposite. I get that english may not be your first language so small errors like this are totally understandable. Heck, even if english is your first language I'd still understand. English is a confusing frankenstein's monster of a language at the best of times :) Keep up the great work. I love your positive vibes :)
You're absolutely right, thanks for pointing it out! English isn't my main language, but it's important to me to have as little of these linguistical slipups as possible. 🍻
Man part of me really wants to grab one of these but the other part of me already has an RGB30 and sees little point in the upgrade. The square screen is great for older systems like NES, SNES, and Gameboy that used squarish aspect ratios but not ideal for pretty much anything else. The Cube is total overkill for that stuff. I’d much rather have a slightly less powerful version for a lower price.
Gonna work on the next vid today! Had some problems with some equipment (a usb hub burned out on me), but I should be back on track once I connect everything back together. Thanks for the enthusiasm btw man, it genuinely made me smile. ❤️
I do not know why you keep complaining.... They advertise for tiktok... Most people do not care about CFW or specs or if the buttons perform a certain way... They only want to buy the device and play the games it was advertised for a few months then its forgotten... I subscribe to certain retro channels because I am interested, but most of you guys keep saying the same things and the complaints still exist. My answer is to stop reviewing the company's handhelds until issues are fixed... You just keep giving them free advertisement and let them create more....
I run my emulators mostly using integer scaling although that is platform dependent. I blacked out after you mentioned not actually caring about scaling. When I woke, I decided that you really hadn't said what I heard you clearly say and I moved on to mild depression over your confusion over the Anbernic's rationale for this device's existence. The RG Cube's whole reason for being IS the 1X1 screen. The device is designed around it thus making it the best in this peculiar class of device both in terms of design and SOC. Its ancillary purpose is just to be sold to as many collectors, new entrants into the hobby and as many other Motherflipping nerds as possible. As for your stance in the software, I'm on team Vlad on that one as you well know. Great video lad. Much appreciated even if I fundamentally didn't agree with your egregiously and profoundly smelly opinion. 😜👍😊😎🛴🛴🛴🛴
