Thanks for the video, but please try and be a bit more specific. It doesn’t have HDMI out, and it doesn’t just have USB for charging. For those with visual impairments it has a mini HDMI out and takes USB-C for charging.
I think the real appeal of this device is being a better RG35XX & a PS1 workhorse. Some PS1 games definitely did struggle on the original RG35XX, and maybe community improvements will improve overall performance here, but if you want a vertical retro handheld that plays PSP or Dreamcast, you should really be looking at a 353V or it's equivalent which has thumbsticks & better hardware.
Not bad! Bummer lacking the analog sticks since it can play more games than an RK3326. It's a balance between portability and power, I don't think they could have done any better given it's size. Maybe they could release an analog only version? Dig the review, thanks!
Oh I know, just saying with 3d games, since this handheld can play more of them, it would be nice to have an analog stick, but as I said, this is the best they could do given it's size. @@dbozgt
8:22 that looks like drastic's "keep main screen on top screen" feature. It's perfect for games like Sonic Rush where you move from top to bottom constantly, I believe it chooses and swaps the main screen based of motion. Changing the resolution for DC seems to need the emulator to restart to apply properly and for games that use the analog stick only, go into the quick menu's controls and unbind the d-pad, bind on analog stick then use "save game remap file" to apply it to only that game or use "save core remap file" to apply it to all games that use that particular emulator core.
I have a question. I am going to get one of these new + models and know that the onion2.0 isn’t fully functional so I’m going to wait for it. I want to download a fresh instance of the OS on one of my own cards and add a nice game pack, but how can I do that? What are the steps and what tools can I use? I’ve looked all over Reddit and since the + just came out, all the answers I can find to this question are people hounding the OP’s to just get onion as there are a million guides for it on the original xx. Someone please help!
As someone looking to buy their first retro handheld device, the XX+ is very tempting. But then at the same time, the Miyoo Mini Plus still appeals to me too. Maybe the better OS and the setup guides that are easily available to find online are a big factor for me. As someone that has never setup these devices, following a step by step guide is super helpful which the Miyoo has several of. I'll be very interested to see what happens when Garlic 2.0 is ready. I imagine there'll be plenty of content creators showing setup guides to help us old timers out. Now I just need to decide on which one to buy 🤔
I think with the XX+ if you can accept that not all Dreamcast will be perfect and the lack of a joystick will make some games worse off then what you do have is still a better MM+ that does even Nintendo DS out of the box. Having said that if you can get a MM+ much cheaper I think it's a perfect device for retro gaming and I consider any Nintendo DS on that a bonus (though it's not ready on Onion OS yet, it still needs to be added manually). Personally now I lean to the MM+, the XX+ is great but the RG353V/RG353VS offers more and with some sticks, I think it looks a bit ridiculous but it is like the full form of the XX+ and has a lot of ways to set it up already.
go with the XX non plus or the miyo mini plus , you want to have finished polished custom firmware to enjoy all games of emulation , you can go up to PS1 no problem. If you really want to play games on emulators like dreamcast , n64 , gamcube , psp or later gens you cant with this price class, also you will need analog sticks and a much more decent device. I was at the same situation u are and im quite happy i didnt go for the XX+ because NDS games run badly and the screen is just to small , its missing analog sticks aswell. I bought a 35XX its super good for its level range. I highly recommend to wait for next year because the midtier class is kinda dead till now you only have a low budget like MM+ 35XX or High end for 250$+ everything beetween is a coinflip in games some will run some wont no matter how powerful the device is, its limited by either OS/Firmware/Software or Emulation itself.
@@-roetakaI just ordered an Rg35xx+, the thing that really pushed me away from the MM+ was the lack of video out.... The mini HDMI on the Rg35xx+ was what sold me on it over the MM+
