There is one more tip: you start with mines. When attack is incoming seed as many as you can on approach. When exploring map drop mines around your base.
Keep a lookout for the crystal "plants" with the bioscanner. Once you have the them at level 7 familiarity they give a plus 10% resource bonus. Have a 2 or 3 cultivators/harvesters running each variant and you'll be swimming in rare resources and carbon/iron/plant-biomass depending on the plant. The only downside is you need large amount of space and a lot of water. Also it looks like Tiberium lol
Yes, farming is really powerful, and a bit overpowered at the moment, as you can just farm every resource for just some water and energy, as long as you have at least familiarity 2 for the given resource plants. It makes the mining outposts obsolete, so use at your own risk to your fun.
Tip : When building the anti acid ground tiles, place a temporary sentry gun from your hot bar. It will shoot the encroaching plants while you can focus on building the acid tiles at the same time.
Even better, right when you enter the map, save the game and search for the acid root, destroy it, and burn down the rest of the plants. They'll never regrow
Tips 1-2. I just build small posts around the edges of the map in convenient places. I put the best guns there. Mobs always run to the nearest buildings. Then you need much less turrets for defense. In the territories between them, you can safely extract resources, expand the base. This is at normal difficulty.
I wish there was a Bioscanner turret you could drop off (similar to the Sentry Turret), so you could have the Bioscanner automatically scan whatever is in range while the character goes off to do other stuff. After everything in range is scanned the Bioscanner turret will self-destruct
Solid tips, another that will save you so much time, is to assign buildings to hotkeys, you can assign every building from what I can see, to a key of your choosing. You can drop down a decent outpost in a few seconds with custom hotkeys and the alt key, so efficient.
I just make chadposts that can stand up to those massive attacks. Good tip on the random walls, getting up to the point where that's important. Extra tip: the green sludge gives an infinite reliable source of gas, which makes a nice stable energy source if you have it. In the fungus colony map you mentioned, I contained all the colonies and had the entire map of sludge to myself to make infinite energy and resource synthesisers. Something that I really wish I knew was that you can hold alt to build the highest tier of building available without having to upgrade it. Also wish I knew that better mining buildings gave more resources per resource on the ground.
Make one small posts that can withstand wave. Used choke point and the like. Late game put a fusion plant there and you'll have an almost can't be destroy base
The tip about constantly building/selling outpost seems a little excessive. All my outposts are fortresses of their own, and whenever an attack occurs, I'll teleport to them and help defend. My absolute go-to tower is the mine-layer, that thing is pure magic.
That just means you have an excessive amount of defences. So for example if you need 5 towers to hold out an attack, and you have 5 outposts, you’d have to build 25 towers rather than 5.
@@chengong388 True, but to me these games are about base building and design. And in the later part of the game when the horde spawns from multiple points at a time, there´s no time for a build/sell strategy. Plus at one point I've had a horde thin out and spread theire attack over 3 bases that could held their own, instead of swarming one. I'm at a point where the swarm can easily break trough 3 layers of lvl3 walls, so to be able to thin them out is key I think.
@@kriseightyfive5854 I think the design is rathe genius, yes high end defense positions cannot be sold/rebuilt in time. But by the time you need that you'd likely have ran out of mining bases, or you'd build those high end defenses at home and just let the hoard destroy the 3 extractors.
it is indeed a bit excessive but thats the flawed game design, because it's the only way to gather resources fast enough to be one step ahead and built a defence strong enough to beat incoming attack. It's not that hard cover all angles of your base with a strong defence so lets say attack comes from south and east and my outpost is on east, ill just sell all my outpost on the east side, while my base can hold off the south. This is the best way it is much more inefficient to build outpost with lots of towers.
Dont bother defending them, takes too many resources, just build the miners and run wires. My standard is some miners, a radar, and a rift gate on each patch. The radar keeps random spawns from happening. then you just warp out there and deal with the hordes when they come. sure they will destroy a few mining bases, but these are almost free and you can rebuild in moments.
On the bioscaner thing. Scan literally everything. You'll get lore and if it's a plant it will have bonus resources when you cultivate it. Cultivation is the true endgame resources grind.
Thank you for informing me about the hold ALT level up on resource buildings! I didn't even know that and i'm at the end of the game! knowing that could have saved me A LOT of time!
Another way to defend its to build a defend outpost near the spawning area, enemies go for the closes thing so you don't have to worry about protecting things beyond those outpost
another tip is if you have cultivaters and harvisters you'll get a lot of plant matter and you can use the bio generates as an infinite source of energy anywhere an the map
The green plant thing is insane. I had a remote mine for iron and wondered why the defense towers kept shooting. When I went to check, the whole place was enveloped with the plants. Within 15 minutes, the whole thing was at my base and there was nothing I can do. It sucked, but it was also awesome.
I've seen another person doing experiments with energy production, and the way he deals with enemy waves is by placing turret camps around the edges of the map, that way enemies get attacked when they spawn and your turrets don't get outranged by the massive snails.
that ALT Key Info to build the best Tech available....damn, i wished i had that 15hours ago :D hahahaha gg nice tips, hope the game will develop and more and more features and dlcs will come...i love the game.
if it avaliable to you, make a sludge pool --> flammable gas --> energy converter, makes about 1700 energy per pool if you have 4 pumps, 4 purifiers, a couple of tanks and 2 flammable gas generators, powers most of my main base
A lot of this was really helpful, thanks. It didn't make the most sense before I played the game, but now I have been playing the prologue for a couple of hours, this is all starting to sink in now.
In the starting biome i encountered some exploding (yellow) plants... They don't explode when burned. When dragging a wall the choice to build the upgraded version (ALT-key) can be changed until just before releasing the mouse button. Shields are awesome... they add atleast 1000 HP to everything in range: good for pipelines with just 100 HP. The bioscanner and the geoscanner (and the digging) work when cloaked.
It pays off to build well defended outposts in all directions, but not further then the furthest metals you are mining. The enemy waves will always spawn outside the map*, hence everything behind your frontline is save. I build defenses really far out early, and bring them further back after i mined whatever was at the map border. This can be done in stages, mining one direction at a time. *: to stop regular respawn radar coverage is a godsend. ;)
Here’s a tip when you get to the green plants planet, don’t build the outpost just yet. Gather the gold resource as much as you can or all of it and you’re set and can leave. Also you can kill the main source of the green plant, there’s two of them, it’ll show as a red skull on the map. There’s a glitch at least on Xbox where you’re not able to save your game if you don’t kill those two red skulls.
Tip: Beline to magma powerplant and use those vulcanic missions to generate absurd amounts of power, then move all those power hungry buildings from primary base to magma biome, add ironium and coal generating buildings for additional surplus to economy. One good setup biom and you can forget about remote iron/coal mines for the rest of the game.
Should I play with Controller or Keyboard+Mouse? Currently, I am using controller I really like controlling Mr Riggs with it, but building bases is a mess, especially when you have to move Mr Riggs (instead of just standing there).
Yeah if someone can give me a quick once over on how Biomass works in this game, Its unlike any other resource that I've come across so far, so I'm stuck with no biomass, and not knowing ANYTHING about what I should upgrade or how the upgrading works in this game, I don't see the counters counting down, also do they count down in order from top to bottom? Or do they all count down and you can upgrade more then one at at time? Are there some things that are better to upgrade first like the 30 second ones? I saw that mentioned in the video, is there a place we can see or highlight the shorter ones to download? Or do we just click through them all looking for the smaller ones first? Looks like an AMAZING game, the tutorial on how to actually play the game is VERY lacking. imo I want to play and have fun, but cant seem to get the game to flow or feel organic in any way. Its just not intuitive to me at least, could just be me though. I'm getting older and worse at games in general.
You gather plant(green) and animal (red) biomass from plants and animals you destroy/kill. You can use them for various things e.g. as fuel for certain power plants. If your research is not ticking down there is an issue with the power for the Lab. What to upgrade depends and some are locked by the story but IMO the best research to get early is the scanner to avoid random spawns (not the waves) in the scan range.
Does this game have delete all function? Its tedious to click and drag to sell things in this game... it would be nice if this game have 'double click' function to select all things of the same type on screen along with 'drag a box' function where everything in it will be deleted...
Here a couple good advice: set camera_enable_zoom "1" set sound_max_distance "500" (to avoid game going mute when camera zoom out all the way) Type it on console or add it to the config file inside game folder (initial_config.cfg) to enjoy the game with a correct field of view (as game was intended). They cap this function due to performance/crash issues but most PC should be able to handle it without issues. Another is to use gravity grenade to deal with most hardest attacks on the game and same goes with mine field to protect your char as you retreat or just to secure you base of operations having many around them. Last tip, walls are kind of useless due to the limited 1500HP points they have, you are better off just spamming more turrets with their 400HP points than turning the game into a tower defend game using an unnecessary labyrinth of walls to reduce walking speed of mounters (game is easy enough already).
Definitely wish I knew this before my first playthrough. In fact, I had saw this video (awesome stuff, btw) but decided not to watch it until AFTER I had gone through the campaign. Maih gawd... the hours I could have shaved off with these tips. I basically went one-by-land-two-by-see on the entire map, wiping out EVERYTHING and just building a huge WALL-wall that went ALL the way around the entire map, lined it up with defenses out the wazoo, and had everything else (the base, the labs, etc) scooted centerish. Looked nice, but not at all efficient.
The Outpost stuff is good early game or maybe on Easy Mode on Normal you get alot of Tanky Unit WaveAttacks so Rocket Towers and stuff are really needed.
I'm surprise by your advice on solar. A solar pannel is 40 against a win turbine at 50 and a battery is 50 too. Solar provide 20 and a wind turbine 12 but your need to charge your battery for the night so let's be generous and say the night is shorter than the day. You have an average 12 energy for the solar for a price of 90 (one solar and one battery). You may be able to support multiple solar pannel with one battery but the cost highter than the windmill, for more footprint. where i'm wrong ?
You're going to need batteries anyway to ensure your turrets will be able to defend when needed. So my thought is you're going to have to build a batteries anyway so instead of building wind + batteries just build solar.
Cool video however tip 9 is wrong! due to solar only working through the day it rounds of at 10.8 energy per sec + you need a 2nd building eg batteries to support it where as with wind you need only 1 building at 12 per sec
Do critters attack the power connectors if they're outside the base walls? It seems like a major vulnerability. Also tired of tornados/earthquakes showing up the instant after I finish building stuff just to see it all destroyed.
I'm playing on consoles and just unlocked the Bioscanner. Does anyone actually know how to use it with a controller? X was the Geoscanner (which took me awhile to figure out) but I can not figure out how to use the Bioscanner.
Awesome! So glad this wasn't one of those "here are some tips that the game literally tells you" lol. Nice vid. New to this on gamepass and I feel super overwhelmed by the UI resource trackers. Especially power. Does anyone have a link to a good video breakdown?
I've heard about a manufacturing tab for making tower ammo but cant seem to find it? I went to the factory that makes it but clicking on the thing in the middle doesn't take me there/no hotkeys exist. I'm asking because my storages are a constantly at 0 because of it and my towers cant really shoot without it. halp
It's in the same tab as the mining buildings, but it does get cluttered up and I can't tell what the buildings are by looking at them so that makes building slower than it should be.
How do you increase building limit??? I have researched and upgraded main base but it doesn't increase my building limit for another armory, pls send help
I don't put those up till I unlock tier 2 versions of those, tier 1 is not very efficient and you will run out fast, by the time you unlock tier 2 you will have a good stock pile and won't ever run out as long as you are looting.
Um, about that part where I should build mini bases at distant resources. Do I HAVE to do this? That seems extremely overwhelming to delete everything before each attack. Would it work just to have a secondary slightly less strong base with loads of defences.
That would also work, you don't HAVE to do it, it's just a cool trick I think. You get the hang of how many defenses you need through a bit of trial and error. However, if you build a secondary base, eventually the waves will get so big, that secondary base will need to be as big and as fortified as the bigger one.
I’ve found a slight solution. I built a couple Ironium and Carbonium Synthesizers and upgraded my wind turbines. I can now gather resources from within my nice little safe base.
I am currently just jumping to the area where the attack will hit first, and then slap all my current towers there, and sell all after the attack, so my ai limit stays max flexible all the time. works actually better then I would like on brutal.
Hi, I play this game on the ps5, could someone help me with a question. Is there a faster way to upgrade your walls in stead of upgrading them one by one, you have to press SQUARE then UP then X. It just takes ages doing it one by one. Plus when you unlock the wall upgrade how to you build the wall already upgraded and not at basic level, because then you have to level them up one by one again. Thanks if anyone could help.
@ahamatavo is right. Just press Triangle, then right arrow. You should be in quick action menu (with sold, upgrad and repair actions). Then go on "upgrade", hold X and move your right stick to everything you want to upgrade. Works for repairs too
@@yanyankelevich2564 thank. how do you unlock alien technology? I've got the other 2 technologies nearly maxed out but I can't do anything on the alien one
