For years I’ve been wondering what my skin tone is. I usually have a good eye for this and it’s very easy for me to determine someone else’s tone but when it comes to myself I could never tell. Then I was thinking about neutral and the only thing I used to hear about this tone was “gold as well as silver jewelry suits you“. Which is true for me but I still wasn’t sure. But now you were talking about the green which is very important in a neutral tone and I think I got my answer now haha. I have light brown eyes with some green in them and whenever I compared my skin to my boyfriend’s his looked so pink while I thought I looked super green compared to him haha. So I think I finally got it. Thank you for helping me solve the mistery 😁😬
And I was just watching her and thinking that this color is too ashy for her face and she looks a bit dull. I wished she had all her hair more in the deeper color (like she has underneath the blond - more browny).
I have cool light olive skin and have to say I find it to be tricky compared to just warm olive, cool or warm skin. if I am tan I can get away with warmer tones, but without a tan my skin is almost a grey green shade (lol I look like an actual zombie) and I have to be careful and keep it cool with a hint of very slight warmth. I think there is some missed nuance here because a skin tone can be any depth and any undertone but it can already be muted or clear meaning how much grey or brightness and opacity to the skin there is. that matters a lot on hair color because of contrast.
I just find it so hard when you are naturally a level 3 brunette to get a hairdresser to lighten someone with a neutral skin tone and still achieve a neutral look with the hair colour and still cover greys. The toners wash out with ash tones after 1/2 washes and your left with a brassy colour for months until your next visit. Sigh! Anyone find this?
Malibu c blonde wellness sprinkles or something like that also helps boost your blonde and its cheap. I think you can find it on Amazon through her store actually... I heard her mention one of the Malibu c products in another video (total addict of her videos🤣)
@@ericablankenship5763 Malibu c is a tiny sashette for abt $4 to $5. I have a lot of hair so that would get expensive pretty quick. I have the same problem with my hair getting more copper/jellow/orange whatever the color is. I recently had the purple conditioner on my hair for an hour and that made my hair look much better. But it is a pain to keep it on your hair every wash for an hour.

Omg I clicked on this video because I’m trying to figure out a more natural hair colour that will suit me. I am also neutral skin tone with Hazel eyes with green!! Currently with platinum/ash blonde hair. I’m wanting to keep some platinum and incorporate some depth into my hair with maybe a mushroom brown at the roots?? I love your hair colour btw.
What about for those with cool undertones (blue and purple veins), pale in winter and slight pink undertones, but golden skin tone in the summer? I’m a level 6 with natural blonde body hair that contributes to the “golden” aspect of my tan. But have had a hard time finding the right hair tone!
Hair darkens with age and is not always flattering as dark hair highlights facial wrinkles. I’d say the hair color you had as a child is probably best suited to your skin tone. I had a friend in her fifties who refused to color her gray. One day she broke down and colored her gray and looked ten years younger.
My natural hair color is jet black, almost silver looking, and it washes me out. It’s pretty, but my cool toned skin is very muted and black makes me look a bit dead
My hair is naturally medium to dark brown. And I’m pretty much fully grey. 90%! I’m only 32. Can you recommend a good box dye that covers all greys without leaving that shiny plastic look, and a more natural look. I find my roots fade to a brassyness due to the grey and dye not being strong enough. Xx 😢😢
My skin tone is neutral with pink /peach undertones. I grew my brunette hair out and it grew out WHITE. I was shocked. Thought I liked it for 3 years. No more. My skin looked washed out. I looked like a ghost. I think a dark golden blonde would give me warmth to my skin. What do u think?
I moved out of state and my hair has been butchered. I’m neutral skin toned and the hairdresser dyed my hair dark black/brown and I went to get it fixed and the next hairdresser dyed my hair platinum and frayed it like spaghetti. Both times I asked for golden brown with soft highlights while focusing on integrity of my hair...so now I am doing boxed dye because I’ve always done light golden brown and my hair has always been super long, healthy, and thick. It’s pet of my identity so I feel devastated at the lack of integrity of my hair since much fell put and broke out from the salon mistakes. From now on I’m doing my hair myself.

I have hazel eyes and am fair skinned with neutral undertone. I'd love another video about what colors we should wear to compliment our hair and eyes. I often wear violet, green, dark charcoal, black, and dark inky blue up near my face. I look washed out in oatmeal colored tops. My natural hair color is a 7 to 6.5?. I never go lighter than an 8 with my base since I'm fair skinned.
I have golden “j-lo” skin tone and I struggle with figuring out what blonde suits me. I tried it once and my skin looked grey. I have to figure out what works for my skin tone blonde wise.
I have golden brown skin that can be chocolate or olive depending on the time of year. I find that the best color for me is always close to the lightest color on my face. It completely changes your look and really makes you live “lively” but if you do it all over you’ll look like a zombie
I had to learn which color works best for my skin tone. I have golden skin, brown eyes and I'm a level 4. I used to bleach my hair platinum blond which didn't fit my type at all. Nowadays, I go for gold blond highlights/Balayage which complement my skin so much better. It was really a journey.
I will never figure out what my skin tone is...LOL. I am light skin, blue eyes and born blonde. If my highlights are too light, I feel washed out. This is such a puzzling subject that I just wear what color I feel good in with my hair and also my clothes. I usually automatically know when I put certain colors on if I feel good in them or not. A mustard color I feel like I look sick in, but a lighter yellow is more suitable.
i have pale skin, but easily tan. i have dark brown eyes and eyebrows and like chestnut brown hair, which to me is brown but in sunlight you can see red.amd once when I tried to go blonde, I found out how much red I have in my hair. I cant figire out what my skin tone is.
I literally want to drive to SF from San Diego just so you could help me with my hair. Right now I have a cool tone ash blonde but it looks really bad with my super yellow pale skin. I have a question for so long now: everytime I bleach my hair and then tone it one time with an ashy tone like 8/69 (because my natural hair color is black so bleach turns it really yellow) the hair looks really good after that BUT a bit to light blonde, so I tone it a second time right after again. The problem here is it tones orangey blonde then, but WHY ??? My hair looks so ashy and good After the first tone but why orangey blonde after the second tone with the same ashy Color? What do I wrong and what can I do about it? Does someone have the same problem??🙈🙈🙈 please help 🙈🙈🙈♥️♥️♥️🥺🥺
I'm not Elle but I have a similar problem. My hair is naturally black color and I got balayage ash blonde highlights. At first the color was great, but then started looking orange overall no matter what. I went to a different hairstylist, who told me that it's because my hair probably got toned with a lifting developer (color mixed with developer greater than 10 volume - done by the salon that did my balayage - which I got my hair toned 3 times over 8 months period), so the blonde pieces are still blonde, but it's the non-highlighted pieces that are turning orange because they got lifted to level 7, which gave the hair an overall orange look. So now I have "level 7 (orange) with level 12 (pretty much white - I didn't even know level 12 existed)" hair that's really ugly together. I had to just tone it darker with a level 6 toner, make everything dark ash brown to cover up the orange. They hairstylist told me that they are scared of going in with more bleach to even things out, because the highlighted pieces are so damaged that they might just break off. They told me to just let it grow out for 2 years.......
I’m still confused but my skin is olive, but fair and my eyes are grey blue and my hair is dark brown with copper tones naturally in the light. Any advice? I was thinking of going more neutral with the hair ironically! Thank you for your videos x

Very confusing tho! I'm Irish, very blue eyes, natural hair would probably be an ashey or ya neutral brown. I'm thinking i am neutral but find if I am too cool say with makeup, it drains all life from my face haha whereas warm tones I can lean further with? As in say warm tones around my eyes very flattering. Warm Bronzers same. But what does that mean? Am I neutral to warm in general? Like hair colour-wise, Chocolate/Caramel/Toffee or ya golden browns definitely suit but they do suit alot of ppl too? But then neutral also suits me? Like in summer I do tan definitely but would be definitely a tan with that more rusty undertone not green?
Yes. I am a Light Summer which is neutral/cool (warmer than regular summer.) I can easily borrow from the cooler Spring colors. If I go too cool like a regular Summer, I look dead and washed out.
See a board certified hair colorist for a consultation! In my large city there are only three or more and what they have learned about hair chemicals 99% of other hair colorists don't understand. When I explained I couldn't afford to come in every three weeks she told me what color(s) to buy at Sally Beauty to do the roots myself and then go in, say, four or five times a year. Also, years ago she did a color on me so gorgeous that everywhere I went people never looked at my face -- only my hair! It was hilarious to experience this because it was like their jaw dropped! I was just beyond gorgeous! So, see a board certified colorist and check his or her credentials with your state! My colorist is double board certified. Also, get some references and read the reviews b/c I've read some bad reviews on even these colorists.
I have hazel eyes so probably neutral skin tone right? But I got the most compliments when I was platinum blonde and now that I'm very dark brown (level 3.0) 🤔. Golden hair shades do not suit be at alllll. But I wear gold jewelry most of the time 😂 omg I'm so confused 😂
It's weird because Im sure I'm cool toned (according to any test/ info out there) bluey/grey eyes, lightest ash brown hair,but because I have freckles ginger hair looks the best on me. I look completely dead (complexion wise) in cool toned reds and when I tried so hard to have platinum hair even when the hair itself was the lightest level and toned to completely white or silver, in comparison to my face it looked like it had a yellow tinge! 😂 Yellow blonde also looks hideous on me, so I'm just lost as to which kind of blonde I could go for 😭😭😭😭
Yes!!! I agree 💯… I have very pink cool fair skin and blue eyes… I look horrible in cooltone hair colors and makeup! I believe the contrast of tones is what suits us best! Copper reds and golden blonde…. Also in makeup! Peach and warm brown makes my skin look “alive”… every time I do a blue/red lip or pink blush I just look washed out! I think it’s strange that hair stylists always go against the color wheel with hair colors…. If blue is the base for a cool skin tone… wouldn’t it make sense to go warmer with your hair color…. Because the opposite of blue is orange?…. At least that’s what the makeup artist will tell you… lol… I feel like it still applies to hair.

I tried cool brown eyeshadow a few times and it just looks dirty on me and my eyes look completely dead 💀😂 I guess it's not so easy for the stylists to figure it out either lol I'm scared for the blonde to be too yellow though 🙈 maybe like honey blonde with some warm lowlights would suit skin like ours?

Highly subjective and not at all mandatory. People can color their hair using color theory or not. So you're perpetuating a colorist standard by using moralistic language like "right" or "wrong" when coaching people on potentially more flattering colors for their complexion.
