Zach - you have such a great way of deconstructing the swing, explaining it in ways no other instructor can. When you say some moves are awkward and difficult, it tells me I'm on the right track, and helps me push through, for if these moves felt easy, we'd all be scratch golfers. I've lowered my handicap 6 points since following your teachings, and buying The Ballstriking Blueprint. Thanks - and keep up the great work!!
Great job Zach. Just purchased your simple swing solution. I love the way you deconstruct and teach the golf swing. One critique though just cause I’m an occupational therapist. It’s (pronounced-Soup-in-ation) SUPINATION. CHEERS!!
I think that the trail arm does external rotation on backswing, and while the trail arm stays close to the body it on the downswing actual internally rotates. Maintaining external rotation of trail arm on downswing opens the clubface.
You are correct maintaining that stretch for too long on the downswing would cause an open face. Try throwing a ball side arm. You will notice how you trail arm naturally moves from external to internal quite rapidly and naturally. We are simply attaching a one pound lever (golf club and shaft)to that motion.
Did you find that about the left arm from GEARS? I know GEARS shows the angle between the left arm and pec/chest decreasing in transition which I always thought was turning into the lead arm. But supinating the left arm would have the same effect. Thanks, interesting video.
Yes it is definitely a simultaneous reaction of the body initiating the downswing, and the lead arm beginning to supinate. Which gives you a nice stretch in the lead lat.
