I'm not sure if you'd call it a rip-off since he was one of the best midfielders in the world by the time of sale, but I've got one for you. I bought a CM from Saipa in Iran for 700k Euros. 3 Star CA for a team that reaches the Champions League RO16, so he was pretty decent. In 3 seasons time, I developed him to the point where PSG and Real were swirling. They weren't the ones that got him, however. Instead, Inter came in with an offer of just 48 million Euros (20, then 28 in installments). Considering his value was 62-76m, I was pretty offended. I added an extra 0 to the initial fee and sent it back, leading to a 228 million price tag for him. I thought they'd walk away and he'd end up donning the blue of Paris. Instead, Inter accepted! He's doing quite well for them, but making a profit of over 32000% is pretty nifty. It started my moneyball operations as well. Using the money from that sale, I'd then end up buying talents that I'd end up reselling for over 1 Billion Euros, and I've still kept my record signing for 143 Million around and he's got 2 ballon d'or's now.

I had a player for port Vale that cost me 100k and I trained him up for 5 seasons and he was scoring like ten to 15 goals a season at just 15 years old. When he turned 20 man City wanted him so I negotiated and said I want 180m they came back with the bid 180m so I played with them and said how's 200m sound with 60 sell on profit next sale they accepted full 200m for a player that only cost 100k and the best part about it he wasn't my top goal scorer he was my 4th goal scorer in my team. I con man City big Time because in 4 season for them he didn't play a single game for them and they sold him for 120m and I got the profit of 60%. For a player I didn't really care about. In my Carlisle save, I’ve been doing a similar version of your free transfer/sell in a year idea but with u21 players from prem teams, I only pick the players that have 4 or 4 star potential compared to my squad and make sure when offers come in I put a sell on clause in, only sold a few players but it’s kept us out of debt after back to back promotions
