Smallville was the WB's last big hit. Please do a video on the rise and fall of Soul Train.

The WB struggled to remake itself after 2001. Their last big hit was Smallville. Did you know that fans of Angel tried to get that show to move to UPN after the WB cancelled it. But, UPN said no because they wanted to establish their own identity with original shows. They didn't want to pick up cancelled network shows anymore. WNPA, the UPN affiliate in Pittsburgh, became the CW affiliate and changed their call letters to WPCW.

Yes they did, Joss Whedon ask for an early renewal from the WB before the fifth season aired, and the wb cancelled it. Fans did try to get Angel to go to UPN, they did a campaign called We’ll follow angel to hell or another network.

I listed the UPN Affiliates owned by CBS Corporation in the video that took the CW Affiliation, KBHK in San Francisco changed their callsigns to KBCW. KBHK was previously owned by United Television (a subsidiary of Chris-Craft Industries) and was a UPN Owned and Operated station because of it, they lost it when Chris-Craft sold its 50% of UPN to Viacom in March 2000. But KBHK got their UPN O&O status back in July 2001 when Fox gave it to Viacom in exchange for Viacom owned KTXH and WDCA, shortly after KTXH and WDCA became Fox Owned UPN Affiliates

@Lamar Berry that’s true WNOL did become New Orleans’ CW Affiliate as listed in the video of the 16 Tribune owned WB affiliates that took the CW Affiliation

@@Kevin-xv9pm I also dedicated this four part video to Connor Higgins who did a two part video about the rise and fall of UPN. It was a lot of hard work doing this four part video such as writing a script, recording it with a camcorder as well as editing it but it was worth it

@@TracyGJacksonTV Well congrats, because I'm more of a UPN kind of guy, and maybe someday soon, you can do a Rise and Fall of UPN of your own. And since I liked Connor's UPN video, maybe I can like yours even more, and also you gave me great interesting facts about UPN and it's stations in major cities since I've been looking at Wikipedia for so Rudy couldn't confuse me with his un-matched info. And it would make me proud if you did.

In 1999 when the 1999-2000 season of the WB started Tribune Broadcasting purchased WBDC (now WDCW) outright from the Jasas Corporation making the station the WB O&O affiliate, because Washington DC viewers would tuned to WJAL that is located in Hagerstown for the WB. Now that WDCW and other Tribune stations are CW stations or became independent after they ended their CW affiliation like WGN. Nexstar now owns the Tribune stations but with some exceptions, KCPQ is now a Fox O&O and Scripps now has one Tribune station. Well some Tribune stations are not CW stations. But CBS the owners of the stations that were UPN stations went independent or be an O&O of the CW.

That is true, the same time that The WB’s Fall 1999 Season was also the same time that KHTV changed its callsigns to KHWB on September 20,1999 (on the same day KHTV became a WB Affiliate on September 20,1995 shortly after Tribune bought the station from Gaylord Broadcasting Four years earlier) to reflect their affiliation with The WB. It was also around that time WGN began removing WB programming off their national superstation feed outside of Chicago Kids WB programming was replaced with syndicated programming on September 6,1999 and the following month on October 7,1999 WB Primetime Programming was replaced with theatrical movies, WGN had The WB affiliation only in Chicago. Also the national superstation feed of WGN didn’t carry The CW Affiliation. Former UPN Affiliates that were owned by CBS Television Stations the successor of Paramount Stations Group as well as Viacom Stations Group ended up taking The CW Affiliation or reverted back to an independent station. KCPQ and KZJO ended up becoming FOX owned Stations

Since I have been addicted to UPN, and "Buffy" is one of my favorite WB shows that affects my tastes (alongside "Dawson's Creek", "Roswell", "Gilmore Girls", "Felicity" and "7th Heaven"), I'm glad UPN did the right thing by acquiring the final two season rights of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". It's a good way for the network's uprise to increase.
@TracyGJacksonTV
@TracyGJacksonTV 2 года назад
I’ve watched both The WB and UPN. The reason why UPN picked up Buffy the Vampire Slayer in April 2001 was due to the fact that Joss Whedon and 20th Century Fox Television wanted an increase of $2.3 million per episode from The WB but their offer was $1.8 million. Because Joss and 20th Century Fox Television didn’t see eye to eye with The WB over an increase which occurred in January 2001, he began shopping Buffy The Vampire Slayer to other networks which many in the entertainment industry believe that FOX Broadcasting would pick up Buffy. As I’ve mentioned before Sarah Michelle Gellar was loyal to The WB was not happy with Buffy the Vampire Slayer moving and she would leave Buffy the Vampire Slayer if the show left The WB, but she was still in a seven year contract.

@@TracyGJacksonTV Well yeah. I have no complaints about "Buffy" and "Roswell" moving to UPN for it's Fall 2001 lineup. But I have little complaints about UPN not acquiring the rights to "Angel". The network (which should've do so in the first place) would've been a complete turnaround for UPN's "Buffy" Tuesday Night block. And UPN should've put "Roswell" on Wednesday Nights at 9pm/8pm after "Star Trek: Enterprise", making the UPN sci-fi Wednesday Night block.

@TracyGJacksonTV 2 года назад
@@Kevin-xv9pm When it was announced that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was moving to UPN for the 2001-2002 Season, the fate of the spin off series Angel was unknown at the time because UPN could have picked it up if The WB cancelled it but Angel ended up staying on The WB. The only reason why Roswell moved to UPN was because 20th Century Fox Television persuaded the network to pick it up because The WB cancelled it on May 15,2001 six days before the season finale of the 2nd Season aired. While The WB aired repeats of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Wednesday Nights after Dawson’s Creek and Sunday Nights before The WB’s comedy show until the end of August, Roswell didn’t get the same treatment and instead Angel moved to Monday Nights after 7th Heaven because Angel would air on Monday come the Fall 2001 Season.

@@Kevin-xv9pm Also Buffy the Vampire Slayer began its run on off network syndication in September 2001 airing weeknights Monday-Friday on Cable Channel FX as well as weekends on local stations. Most of the stations that aired Buffy The Vampire Slayer were FOX Affiliates

Follow upn's final night of programing ktxa 21 has launched it's own newscast produced by ktvt CBS 11 to take over upn place is called txa 21 news first in prime anchors by Ken Taylor and Tracy kornet weather with Garry seith and sports with Gina Miller. I'm remember I was a senior year at Garland high school that's first 3 nights back as independent station. The slogan for channel 21 is as independent as Texas. Nice.

@@TracyGJacksonTV Awesome! Cause since this is FOX's 35th birthday this year. I thought to myself if you can do a video on it. And since you approved, please take your time on that research. And make it a reminiscent of your WB video (where you talk about their stations, company ownership, Saturday Morning block, and seasons worth of shows (cancelled/renewed/brand new). I'll be looking forward to it soon. Also, I got a special title for you.
