Sadly as they’ve got bigger, you’ve not heard good things , big finance backing , isn’t it weird how Tranmere don’t use their kits? I know people will talk about tranmere owners at this point, but the reality is if you look back the north England is a great example when it comes to sportswear, it’s a ruthless sweatshop business and the people don’t care. that’s a globalisation problem. Aston Villa could wait to get away from them, was very disappointed to see Everton taking their kits. It’s a bit sad because initially I was wildly enthusiastic. a lot of people do not like their kits due to quality issues so I don’t buy the romance story for one little bit despite being a rovers fan from the Wirral. Gymshark have taken the safer route by avoiding football. Kevin plank said the same.

Robert, I think just to call them a ruthless sweatshop business is a bit harsh and kind of undermines how well they have done over the last 8 years. Liverpool and the Wirral area has some amazing businesses that have been started there, Victorian Plumbing is another one that has listed on the stock exchange in recent times. The whole reason i do Jimmy's Jobs of the Future is to try and profile some of the amazing companies that are based right across the UK, as i felt the traditional business media in London focused on London and in particular FS and property. If I get Tom on again, I'll ask him if they would ever work with Tranmere, I am sure that they would. PS. I am a Derby County fan, and have very fond memories of our ding dongs with Tranmere in the mid 90s, some absolutely amazing high scoring games.

@@jimmysjobs hello jimmy, I remember those games against Derby County . Rovers were punching well above their weight back then. Some great games. I seem to remember 5-4 victory at Prenton Park, derby are a great club it would be good to see them back in the premiership. Just clarify, I’m not saying Castore are a sweatshop brand , I know that they do make some great products for certain types of sportswear. I’ve been very interested in sportswear since I was little more than a boy, unfortunately it doesn’t matter who you are, the production model is globalisation. the north of England has a rich history when it comes to sportswear as I said, Umbro formed in Wilmslow , reebok, originally from Bury started by the grandchildren of JW Foster from Bolton, brought to prominence by a American businessman and eventually sold to Adidas . then we have mitre who come from Huddersfield, for years they supplied the football used in English football and are one of the oldest sportswear/sports equipment companies in the world , given that Nike now supply the ball for the Premier League and puma for the rest of the English football league it really makes a laughable mockery of the Brexit thing. I was very interested in Castore at first. but the football kits they make have a strong reputation for being absolute garbage. clubs are flocking to them because they want to rape as much money out of the fans as they can, profit maximisation is the big thing, Castore kits clearly offer this and football fans unfortunately are brain-dead enough to swallow it. I appreciate they do make quality products for other areas. this is a very sad reflection of the way football has gone. It’s nice to see British businesses doing well but very often this is not a fairytale or a romantic story.

@@Robert-vw3od That is genuinely very interesting about the north west and the history of sportswear, it makes sense when you think of the Cotton Mills etc. I am fascinated by economic development, how and why it happens, so much was down to geography and natural resources in the previous centuries but that is going to change in the 21st Century. Where did your interest in all this originate from?

I haven't seen any fan base express anything positive when their team has paired up with Castore

Honest, I've never had a Castore football kit, so I can't speak about that, but I own a bit of the general castore and AMC clothing, and I have been extremely happy. I play tennis and soccer and used to wear UA, Adidas, and occasionally Nike. Since finding Castore, it's become a big portion of my closet, as it has truly been great in the capacity of day to day as well as athletic activities. I joined for Andy Murray and stayed for the clothes/quality.

@@DavidMartinez-zd3wr That is really interesting to hear, David, thank you so much of the engagement with this here and across other socials has almost soley focused on the football kits and I am not even sure that is the major part of the business.
