Yesterday a 39-year-old man from Essex became the first person in England and Wales to be sentenced for cyberflashing, after it became a criminal offence earlier this year. With recent research showing a huge 76% of girls aged 12-18 have been sent an unsolicited sexual image, and 40% of women aged 18-34, we’re joined by forensic psychiatrist Dr Sohom Das to reveal the psychology behind these crimes. Plus, Women’s Safety Campaigner and cyberflashing victim Karen Whybro will be explaining why she wants more to be done to stop cyberflashing.

This is just another reason why social media companies need to take responsibility for what they allow on their platforms…and governments need to pass regulation laws and enforce them…but parents need to educate their children and be more vigilant what their kids are viewing….there are so many warnings and information regarding the digital age that people just ignore because they haven’t bothered to educate themselves on the dangers or they don’t think it can happen to them….heed the warnings.

I think I was cyberflashed on Messenger. A stranger sent me a friends request on Facebook. I question why they were sending it and ask if we knew each other, they say yes, I asked how, they sent me a picture of male private parts. I blocked them. If men think it's acceptable to do this, they're very much mistaken.

Ask any millennials this is nothing new I remember in the early 00s when Bluetooth was new and the main form of sharing file. It was extremely common . I remember being 15/16 and man on train sent be a pic of him in heels and stockings with his sausage out.

You do know 1997-2012 are actually Gen Z …Millennials Gen X are between 1981-1996…..people being so precious and being easily offended nowadays..some people take offence if you don’t categorise them properly….but then I’m a boomer and proud of.

And in 20th century flashing in public places (such as parks or buses) was extremely common. A friend and I where in a park and a guy flashed us. A policeman found us walking through the park and we told him what happened and which direction he went- apparently the guy was notorious for flashing in that area. The officer told us the best way to stop a flasher is to laugh at them, as their kick is having power over you. Back then you generally trusted police officers, but now if that happened it could have been one of his colleagues doing the flashing.

2:34 Thats not true. It only shows you a preview if the person sending you a file is in your contacts. It doesnt show you previews if its a complete stranger sending you a file This lady is doing the most. Just change your settings or turn Airdrop off when you're not using it. Simple. No need to arrest anyone for something you consented to 😂

@@melinmove How about thieves just stop being thieves? How about burglars stop being burglars? We don't live in a perfect world. Best you can do is take necessary measures to keep safe. In this case, just don't accept random files

@@keifer7813 You know that people can just send without your consent, still. There are always ways in which these pervs will be able to do it, and if they wont stop they have to face the consequences just like thieves and other crimes.
