At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

The show really doesn't like addressing that fact, but, honestly, yes-the entire point of Hürrem's elevation was to place her in the role of female family elder after Hafsa's death. It was a move as much political as it was personal.

"The haseki, a slave concubine and no blood relation to the reigning sultan ranked higher than the sultan’s own sisters and aunts, the princesses of the dynasty. Hatice, Mustafa, mahidevran and hafsa were so arrogant about it being their dynasty. They always humiliated and tormented hurrem about it and her being a slave. Even afife thinks herself as higher than hurrem

Hürrem deserved all of that. So don't pity her. But in the real life (not series) Valide Sultan had a good relationship with Hürrem.

i really dont like mahidevran. she thinks she has higher rank than hurrem, even before hurrem married to sulaiman. hurrem is a free woman, legal wife of sulaiman, mahidevran should bow to her. she always play victim, use his son when she is the one who start the fight with hurrem

She’s not a slave. She was freed and is now the wife of a king. She’s a queen and mother of princes. This puts her above everyone but Suleiman.

Kalfas start out as concubines but earn their freedom and the title of Kalfa at some point.

@@princess7jasmine thanks. The concept of concubines working flew over my head. In India even the lowest concubines were not allowed to work,except cooking for the kids or king, so I didn't consider this possibility.

@@Vajrasattvam Kalfa refers to "lady in waiting" not concubine. They are like lady stewards for the imperial women. Not concubines of the sultan. They are servants of higher rank

Hatice sultan sah sultan and fatma sultan outrank all the slaves and concubines including hurrem bcz they are daughters of sultan Selim and valide hafsa sultan and sisters of Suleiman the magnificent their power is inherited to them while hurrem is using just her husband's power so she must bow to sultana hatice and stay in limit as shown in series

You can have it that way in the show, sure, but not in real life. In fact, given your take, women such as Hafsa couldn't even receive such valued treatment since they'd be former slaves that "using" their son's power rather than having their own. It's an argument that falls apart pretty quickly...
