As a UW student I low key love OSU, and wish they would've beet Arizona and especially WSU. Anyways I hope we win on Saturday, but some part of me feels like they deserve with the PAC2 and all.
The key turning point was the firing of Tibs, and replacing him with Trent Bray as DC in 2021. Tibesar was awful, but the prevailing theory is that nobody else would take the job when Smith was hired because OSU's D was such a mess. After getting to 5 wins in 2021 but then getting stuck and losing 2 games they should have won, Smith firing Tibs showed a level of backbone that some weren't sure that Jonathan had, and helped ensure they became bowl eligible. The immediate improvement in the defensive play was amazing to see, it was hard to believe they were the same players. From that point on, OSU became a contender.
Bray has done an amazing job and I can't wait to see how his coaching career evolves over the next few years. If Smith decides to leave he could be an interesting choice to replace him. Alum, knows the culture, has been with the players since the beginning, and is only 41
Welp, time to start making the “Rise and fall of Oregon State Football”. I’m an Oregon State fan and I have no joy left after us not getting into the Pac-12 championship and Smith most likely leaving.
I think true chaos would need to occur for them to make the playoff but this is college football and anything can happen. They have been a fun team to watch and it would be amazing to see them pull the upset this week
It has been tough to watch. They beat my Badgers earlier this season and looked like an extremely dangerous team. Was hoping to see Cam Ward have a Heisman-caliber season because I loved covering his story on this channel.
