You know, Artificer’s helmet could just be shaped that way because they had to make room for all the technology needed to make the suit as a whole work? Just a thought.
a big piece of the puzzle regarding the Imps comes from the first game. if you beat the game with all artifacts on, you unlocked the final artifact called Artifact of Origin which causes an Imp Vanguard to invade every 10 minutes. this implies that the Artifact of Origin is what the Imps seek. the possible reason as to why this artifact isn't in the second game is either a). you escaped the planet with it or b). it's in the void.
another bonus fact is regarding Deadbolt. the game takes place in, well, "The Place." it exists as a kind of purgatory/limbo where lost souls can never die nor move on unless they are killed by a Reaper. it is entirely possible that Deadbolt exists within the ROR games but not in a traditional sense.
Supporting the idea that void reavers take things is backed up by one of the artifacts code. In sirens call, half of a tablet can been seen near the edge of the map. The other half can be found in void fields
Quick correction on REX, it was notable not for success, but for failing to protect all but one crop, which it later took on its head and carried to the outer deck for some light. This was breach of its basic protocol and was supposed to be shut down. Considering how you find him in the game, it's entirely possible that said shutdown was successful, but complicated. Void Reavers are thought to detain anything considered a danger, though at what scale differs from story to story. All we really know of them is that defeating Mithrix marks you as dangerous enough to detain, and having the strength to complete a loop does the same. I'm not 100% sold on the "her" mentioned by Mithrix in logs is N'Kuhana. I think there may be another one that will come in. Otherwise, a logbook from the DLC may be just what we need. The Parent is the youngest, like how a regular star is the youngest. It ages into a giant, much like the Grandparent. The giants either explode or shrink into a dwarf, which is the oldest, like the Child. Turning from a Grandparent to a Child would allow for creation of new Parents (stars) by scattering star-born materials. A giant is the best for creating new stars due to its high gravity, and as such the Grandparent incubates the egg. The young stars (Parents) have more power and thus are seen as watching over the small dwarfs (Children). Thus, the Child lays the egg, the Grandparent incubates it, the Parent hatches from it and takes care of the Child that made it, then the Parent ages into a Grandparent and then a Child. Also, we have no Child enemies in RoR2 even though they're in RoR1, implying that the survivor killed the Children and Grandparents from the last game, and only enough time has passed for the old Parents to turn into Grandparents. Not really gonna bother with levels 8 or 9 since those ideas are entirely speculative. We need some more logbooks to really work them out.
@@justafox0no we can’t, the “her” is someone who died and gave providence a gift. Aurelionite was created by providence and imprisoned in the golden coast at mithrix’s urging.
@@blenderbeans3942I agree, based on the Bottled Chaos log, the void was unable to take the planet because of Providence. However, as far as I can tell, this kinda conflicts with the text that appears when you are killed by a void reaver. "You have been detained. Await your sentence at the end of time." That text basically states that the void is some kind of cosmic police force, but almost every other reference to the void seems to paint them merely as hoarders. They just take whatever they can get their claws on and put it in their void cells. I don't know what to make of them.
@@Greenjay64 Not looping necessarily but gaining more experience and skill as you replay RoR2. For example, lore wise you (the survivor) would have no idea what the bazaar between time would is, but the player (you) already does when starting a game and actively searches for newt altars in the stages to find one. Another is learning enemy patterns when you (the survivor) has never seen them before. Like some really convoluted deja vu.
Part of me can't help but think that Captain was the Enforcer that escaped. He still uses a shotgun, is mortally wounded by losing his arm, and has experienced a situation similar to the current game.
It would make sense, in a way, that the Captain is retelling the stories of what we do. Reason I say: when you defeat Mithrix, after the moon collapses/gets detained, a few words get said based on the character you choose. It feels like those words are the end of the Captain's "story". Side note, I love the lore of Acrid, he literally just wants to he alone and the name of his unlocking achievement always makes me a little sad: "... To be left Alone", and the same with the end game quotes. RoR1: "... And so it left, with a new hunger: To be left alone" and "... And so it left, with delusions of freedom" From RoR2.
I think that instead of Heretic boarding while Providence attacks the Contact Light, Providence boarded and destroyed the Contact Light because of Heretic's presence on it.
30:55 Don't forget that after you kill Mitrix(literally a God) you become a powerful creature, thus making void reavers come after you since it's their job to capture powerful shit, in attempting to get you they void(steal) THE ENITRE MOON OF PETRICHOR 5
i love that take on it! personally I've heard the speculation that the void reavers were always wanting to take the moon but mithrix himself was somehow keeping them at bay, and so his death allows them to breach that and take the moon
As far as I know, the void reavers exist solely to capture and catalogue powerful beings. They tried to take Newt, but were stopped, being frozen in his light blue glass. They did take Acrid, hence why poison doggo is freed upon completing the void fields. They may have gone after Mithrix, but I'm not sure about that.
@@drim3945 Yeah, your right. But theres something I've been wondering about... what were the void reavers going after in the Sirens Call? I mean, the tablet there has a chunk missing, with the other piece found in the void fields. Were they after the tablet itself, or something else?
@@NovaMaster375 Firstly i thought since artifacts are quite powerfull, so blah blah but it doesnt make sense, probably they were after something, maybe even one player, and you know how they uncobtrorably explode and take everything in range when killed, som probably some guy killed a reaver, it exploded, voided some enemies, tablet was near so it voided a part of it aswell
18:00 My theory is that Nkuhanna died for Providence because he broke the balance, giving more life than death. If she died for Mithrix, that would mean that he broke the balance by making more death than life.
shrines of combat also look like the item alien head and alien heads were used to ward off sicknesses or something in the logbook (i dont remember exactly) so artificer could be an alien similar to the alien head
The quality of this dissection is phenomenal, I almost didn't believe when you said it was the first one you made. The jokes, the theories, the deep lore. Just fantastic, thank you so much for this
Glass Mithrix was meant to spawn at the third stage of the mithrix fight(this phase is where his hammer starts to flame up.). Like the Providence fight, mithrix was meant have some of these clones, and while they are techincally weaker than the providence clone, techincally you can have multiple of these. Also this attack actually is coded in and not buggy at all, but its not used.
A little correction for the Sticky Bomb: originally the damage stacking was Multiplicative, meaning that 125% increase would multiply the previous value, not add itself on. This caused damge to increase on an exponential scale, rather than its now linear one, starting off weaker until you hit 5 sticky bombs, then the numbers get ridiculous: 2300% damage at 10 stacks, compared to nowadays 1500% at 10 stacks and the gap only getting wider faster the more stacks you get.
"You are canon" is actually a really really believable and blunt one. I wouldn't be surprised if it was tier 3 or 4 or even 2 if it wasn't for how many questions this brings up.
the devs have confirmed that both brothers are canonically dead. This may not mean that they're totally gone, but I think the important part is that they're not coming back
21:33 That may have been intended to drop from Blighted Elite enemies, a powerful shadowy elite variant in RoR1 that would only spawn in Monsoon. My guess is they were planned to return for RoR2, but never made it in. Also, the effect mentioned sounds reminiscent of the Shattered Mirror from RoR1, a use item (equipment) that would spawn a shadow clone of yourself. The clone would replicate every input made, effectively doubling your total damage.
So transcendence log is saying that me the player is canon and risk universe only exists in my universe but as dream like imagination. Just making sure I understand
I think the void creatures that lock you away if they kill you are actually there to stop you from time traveling hints the last item talked about and they only appear after you loop in a run.
I would like to add that “Nevermore” is a reference to Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”. “Quoth the Raven “Nevermore”’, which is why Heretic just squawks. Simple lil reference that just makes Heretic even more adorable to me lmao (also if you get the Ditto mod, you can transform into any enemy, and they all have their moves. I personally love to choose Magma Worm everytime)
Amazing video! For your 1st video, you did an incredible job writing the script, collecting info and editing in images and references. Again, amazing job!
For a first video, this was really well done. The only criticism I have is about your utterance; since I'm not a native english speaker, it took me a few minutes to get used to your timing, but it's unfair of me to just expect too much from a ascending youtuber. Please do more videos about the logs, your opinions on the lore and especially with the Survivors of The Void update.
I was really surprised when you said this is your first video, the quality of it made me assume you were an established creator. Good job and please keep it up
It’s so funny seeing this now, because we know the teased sniper character for sotv is railgunner, and that chef is coming in just a few days, and the glass frog on commencement is for getting to the voidling fight
this is a amazing way to start off your channel, nice work! i appriciate the lore recaps because i knew most of it but there were small things that didnt make sense to me that you explained.
im glad you put thunderstore and r2mm on the iceberg because its also shared with another community im in hotdogs horse shoes and hangrenades (obviously for modding)
Now the glass frog has a purpose, Im excited to see what video you will make regarding the update - nvm I just saw u did the Iceberg video 2 days ago for the new update. Keep up the good work
I always assumed Rex got ejected out of whatever ship he was on and eventually landed on petrichor v, which is why he’s buried and broken in the abyssal depths
To be honest I feel like in the first game the jellyfish should explode and move slower like in the second game and in the second game they should move faster and do contact damage because in the first game it doesn't make sense that they move fast if you cant aim and in the second game it doesn't really make sense that they move slow because you can just snipe them from far away
I fuck so incredibly heavy with this game and it’s lore. Little fun fact for those going for monster logs, the 57 leaf clover increases your chance at getting a log.
I remember reading the transcendence log for the first time and been hit with a sudden feel of existential dread of my own mortality that i have forgotten... til now
if you get the fire aspect item, and get a few ignition tanks, you become CRAZY strong. - especially high rate of fire chars like commando edit: speaker-destroying ear-rape at 12:45
presumably REX would also be an exception to the "survivors as a job" idea, since all his lore points to there only being one REX. Probably captain too.
mitrhix I guess lied to her that heaven is "a moment whole" and she was tryina get there... she is almost certainly not human, and the one to capture her was the newt shopkeeper. Mithrix had no reason to capture her, since he wanted a lot of creatures to go to a moment whole so he could keep them there, basically out of spite for his brother.
More points could be “The fate of RoR1 characters” and “Chair in menu”. For first, it’s unclear what happens after we escape the planet. For second, if you look closely, there is a chair moving in the background in menu, completely by itself.
There is also only one captain, he has his own ship called out by name and has a prosthetic arm, he isn’t just a “Job” (I know being a captain is a job)
