They might use the Wolverine from X-Men Days if Future Past, and not the one from Logan. Reason firstly Ryan and Huge said in a video that Logan is it’s own thing and that they are not touching it. Also in days of future past they go back in time or something so everything that takes place after 1973 or 2023 never happened. Final point in Dead-pool 2 when he goes back in time I believe he goes to the days of future past time.

I think this movie could work very well as a proper finale to the Fox universe, with Deadpool leaving the Fox universe for the MCU and having a heartfelt goodbye to Wolverine, also it’d be cool if the movie ended with Deadpool meeting the MCU’s version of Wolverine

@@slapbass8723 Wolverine's humorous dynamic in the comics is more with Spider-Man, not Deadpool. Cable is meant to be that serious character opposite to Deadpool. That's the reason Cable and Deadpool were created in the first place, because the creator wanted to make them his own version of Wolverine and Spider-Man.
I think the moment that Patrick Stewart returned as Professor X sealed Hugh Jackman returning. The two had decided they would be done after Logan but once Stewart went against that, it opened the door for Jackman.

Both of their careers aren't going anywhere so they decided to go to the MCU to draw up some attention for themselves. It's a disservice to the Logan storyline and ultimately takes out any stakes involved. That's the problem with multiverse stories. What's the point in investing in a character when there's another one out there to take their place. When death isn't even a stake anymore then what is there?
4:23 there was a report that came out some time ago about how Marvel Studios can’t recast the X-Men characters until 2025, due to lasting contracts with the Fox X-Men cast, so even if they wanted to recast them, they couldn’t until then, so having a movie with Wolverine requires Hugh Jackman playing him, until 2025 (I thought I’d also heard that Marvel would have to wait until 2025 to even FILM a new X-Men cast, so we likely won’t see recasts on the big screen until 2026 at the earliest)
That rumor is 99,9999% likely to be false. They already had Stewart appearing in the MoM instead of McAvoy, Jackman had no no contract after Logan, and all the contracts ended after Apocalypse, with the actors coming back one more time as a favor to Kinberg. Plus, seems unlikely a movie studios would push a deal like this in that they are FORBIDDEN to use other actors for the movies, specially since Fox execs already knew about the Disney deal.
This. They’re clearly making the best of the Fox cast while they’re still held by contract to them. The 50 year anniversary of Wolverine’s first appearance is in 2024, so this makes about as much sense to mark that anniversary as anything could. 🤷♂️
The misconception is that Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool in all of his movies, he actually is playing his real life self, it just happens to go hand in hand to the Deapool persona. Look at all his films before Deadpool, thats who he really is in everyday life.
Logan will always be the Fox X-Men swan song to me. I take this as a retired artist returning to the stage for one last show for the love of the game. Getting to see Wolverine in the costume, having Jackman play off Ryan Reynolds is worth it and it would’ve always been the great “what if” had it never come to pass. I see this as a chance to tackle the MCU fixation of multiverses but ALSO just how fucked up the Fox universe got. X-Men developed a trend for getting itself back on track always for one of the sequels to fuck up the timeline. First Class gave the series new blood after X3, Days of Futures Past brought everyone back into the fold only for Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix to shit the bed. Even New Mutants dropped the ball on the whole “John Hughes horror movie” approach. Also I’ve always enjoyed the Deadpool humor and action. I feel the stakes are lower for these films general approach than say Multiverse of Madness. So long as it’s a fun way to bridge the Fox verse into the MCU then I’m in.

I wouldn’t be surprised though if Deadpool somehow breaks into the Marvel universe (sort of like how Venom got blipped in) and bumps into the new version of the X-Men including the new Wolverine actor.

I mean, Deadpool 1 has him asking the question "McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are confusing" followed by the Apocalypse cast having a cameo in Deadpool 2...but then in the credits of Deadpool 2 he time travels back to X-Men Origins: Wolverine In reality - The Deadpool movies are about as close as you can get to "in universe parody that breaks the universe" and are just having fun, regardless of any canon or continuity. In universe, in canon - Clearly between the snap, the destruction of the stones, multiple instances of time travel, time meddling, and multiverse exploring and crossing....all of this stuff has become very intersected and very intertwined and confused, backwards and forwards in time. It is all one great big jumbled mess because so many characters in multiple realities have tinkered with times and universes so much that it has ALL been thrown out of whack. In fact...Deadpool is probably going to actively be making a ton of jokes about it. Days of Future Past had time travel, Deadpool 2 had time travel, Doctor Strange had a little bit of time tampering. Infinity War had Thanos using the power of time, space, mind, soul, power and reality to snap half of life out of existence...then he destroyed those stones, then the Avengers traveled time, then Thanos and a bunch of 2014 characters traveled back...Hulk snapped to restore everyone, Tony snapped to remove Thanos...Wanda, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange have been messing with crossing multiverses. It all adds up. It is probably legitimately the most "in canon" reason for every single re-casting, timeline inconsistency, and continuity error across the entire franchise.
I read a theory about DP3's plot and I love it. Deadpool basically kills off the Fox Marvel Universe by messing around with time travel and Wolverine from another time or dimension is hunting him. Due to Deadpool traveling back in time to kill himself from Origins and literally Ryan Reynolds, Wade is now wanted by the TVA and that's how he gets pulled into the MCU.
I’m ok with it for two reasons: 1. This isn’t some out of nowhere idea. People have been wanting this since the first DP movie. 2. Whether we like it or not, as good as Logan is, it never actually felt like a true conclusion to that particular X-men franchise. It felt more like an elseworld situation. It’s a great movie in its own right and Hugh Jackman coming back isn’t gonna change that. People didn’t love it because it was the last Wolverine movie people loved it because it was a great Wolverine movie.
I don't entirely agree. While I do agree that Logan by its own is a great Wolverine movie there is definitely also some value to the fact that it concluded his long journey that we have been witnessing unfold for many years. There is no reason to bring him back except the obvious one that Disney always crave - Money!

All the X-Men movies took place in Earth-10005 until the end of DOFP, which ended with the creation of Earth-TRN414 that includes the Deadpool movies (only the continuity where Vanessa survives; the rest of Deadpool 2 takes place in Earth-41633), X-Men Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, and The New Mutants. While Logan was believed to take place in Earth-TRN414, it was later confirmed to be in its own universe, Earth-17315.

I think the Deadpool formula adding in Jackman's Wolverine is perfect. I think the jokes and banter between these too will be so good. It does run the risk of overusing them but I don't think that detracts from movies like Logan especially when they have stated this isn't canon to that universe. It's perfect because even with it not being canon we know we are getting jokes based off it anyway because it's Deadpool xD

Frankly this is something that has always needed to happen. The Wolverine of the films that has taken us on many emotional journeys will finally be allowed to blend that pathos with the silliness of the comics and the gore of Deadpool movies. It would've been a shame if Hugh didn't come back to do this.
His ending in “Logan” was so poignant. I just hope that his appearance in “Deadpool” doesn’t overshadow how beautiful and significant and sacrificial his death was. I think it’s ok to say goodbye to characters, and leave them be.
I think the director of Logan has just come out and told everyone to chill. DP3 is going to be its own thing and will not lessen the poignancy and gravitas of his film.

i definitely think Logan was good enough to end with at the very least, and honestly, no offense to anyone, not a fan of the Deadpool films, not my jam, so not really feeling this, it'll tarnish any love i had remaining for the character, i wish they'd let the Fox versions go

Having Jackman in the comic costume could be great to make fans who don't really care about comics stop thinking that Wolverine is exactly like Hugh (I know it seems contradictory, but hear me out), and just think Wolverine = Yellow & Black guy with claws, so when the MCU eventually recasts him for Earth-199999 (I'm not calling it 616, that's the comics) people will see some guy in a Yellow & Black suit and think "Hey, that's Wolverine!" instead of "Hey, that's not Hugh Jackman".
That's a good point. Lines up with how I like what the video said at the end about DP3 being used as a send off for the Fox X-Men cast since having Hugh's Wolverine would be fun but then Deadpool can explicitly say it's time to move on.

Having Jackman in the suit would be a great little nod to the "yellow spandex" line from the first X-Men film. Plus acknowledging how far comic book films have come in embracing the source material.
They did say Krazinsky is unlikely to return as mr fantastic, and we’ve already seen the 3 Peter Parkers, I don’t think they’re at all beholden to using those actors going forward. They seem to be deploying them as side characters while we wait for an actual X-men project, which may be related to the contract issues there have been rumors about

Well with Deadpool 2 ending in a time travelling adventure, we could take Wolverine from any point in time and use him. What I want in the end is that they break the timeline so bad that they accidentaly throw Laura into the MCU and now our resident "Wolverine" is Dafne Keen's X-23 (I dindt say it makes sense, I said thats what I wanna see)
Something I have not seen mentioned is that Deadpool 3 is happening years earlier than the events of Logan. So in a way this is a prequel and does not diminish Logan 's heroic sacrifice in his final movie.
@@jcam320 Can not claim to know for sure. If the MCU wishes to keep Logan as canon they can set the Deadpool movie prior to the events of Logan. It's never been established that Deadpool is set in the same universe as the Fox X-Men. It is a possibility that the Logan from this Deadpool may come from an alternate universe. We will see.

Nah I think it'll be a One‐Shot for Hugh. Since we're in the Multiverse Saga, I'm hoping it's just reuniting with his take on the character while introducing another variant of that character (played by someone else)

Wow i couldnt disagree with something more. The simplicity and rawness of the first one really feels like i can watch it over and over, as opposed to the bloated CGI fest of the 2nd one which just seemed to not have as focused a story as the first one..
I am absolutely with you on the orange and black costume. It might be my partiality to the burnt orange of the 80s, but the vibrant yellow always felt like one of the elements of his costume that never worked, like his whiskers that were almost immediately dropped. I don't see a downside to this, it's just 1 more movie with a duo we've wanted to see in a PROPER X-Men movie together when we already thought the character was retired, for what sounds like a final film. I'm certain it can be easily written off as a variant thing with less than 4 lines of dialogue, so let's have tempered expectations for a fun, possibly R-rated, time.
This is just about the only movie I'm good with Hugh Jackman coming back for. It's something that I feel like Hugh Jackman can come back for just this one, maybe get the yellow suit or something, and then we get someone new in the future.
I think bringing Hugh Jackman back as wolverine is better than some new iffy actor that might suck. We know Jackman's wolverine, we love it. Can't fix what's not broken.
I have a lot of faith that Ryan and Hugh's excitement for the project is a good sign. They've both put a lot of themselves into these characters, and I think they don't reprise the roles lightly. Their irl chemistry will make some truly magical moments. I very much hope DP working his way into the MCU will help the multiverse start being a more fun and character-driven place, much akin to getting James Gunn and Taika Waititi involved.
I think they're doing this because Marvel is probably not going to be using their own versions of key mutants until post-Phase Six. That doesn't mean however that setting the expectations for how a mutant-filled MCU would start to look like using the actors or characters we're familiar with, and with how meta Deadpool is I think it's the best way something like bringing Jackman back can be executed. Use that to set expectations for what an MCU Wolverine will and won't do, and continue to sprinkle in B or C-tier mutants to satiate the wait for the big X-Men stuff
I think my biggest hot-take is that this is the last I want to see of Wolverine for a long time. Let audiences fall in love with the other X-men and then bring back our favorite Canadian
Yeah, Fox'd Wolverine wad definitely DC's (comics) Batman - overused to the detriment of every other character. Hell, Singer even replaced Kitty Pryde with him in Days of Future Past.
I personally hope that this is a musical. With Jackman’s stage career (and movie musical career) along with Reynold’s musicality paired with it being Deadpool coming out after Joker 2 being a musical, I could totally see it working
4:28 I love the Fox X-Men movies universe flaws and all. I grew up with those versions of the x-men characters so I personally have no problem them bringing back past X-MEN actors into the MCU like how they brought back past Spider-Man actors in Spider-Man no way home
I think the MCU wants to introduce their own X-Men pretty soon but is also busy with the multiverse saga plot for now. And having more of the X-Men cast show up in Deadpool 3 and then Avengers Secret Wars will be a really good sendoff for them if you ask me, to then jump right into a new version of the team in 2026.
I've seen a fair amount of speculation that because Phases 4, 5 and 6 are the multi-verse saga, the X-Men will define the next few phases after these. It would make sense that Feige is just playing around with these characters, using them as fan service until an MCU reboot of the characters comes into play. As others seem to have mentioned, there perhaps is an issue relating to the contracts of the actors playing the characters through 2025. I have no idea how true this may be, but even so, phases 7 and onwards will seem to need some big hook or theme to define them.
The reason marvel keeps using the old Fox X-men characters is that Fox licensed the actors to stay in their roles as x-men until around 2025-2026 so when Disney bought fox they weren’t able to use new actors for the main X-men cast until the license expires.
I think Deadpool 3 is honestly the perfect place to transition from the old era of X-Men into the new because he exists in his own little bubble and could likely help explain things really well for audiences.
Happy to have Hugh and Ryan together finally. These two are passionate about their roles and I think their real friendship will bring out the best versions of their characters. I do think that the X-men franchise cannot get out of its own way just like Star Wars. Repeating characters, timeline issues, repeating story arcs. I know Gregor says it’s rhymes but get some different words, or beat going for Wookiee sake. Franchises are best when they are moving forward but they also do well when their characters move forward. My hope is the Ryan and Hugh will do the movie they want to do, make it that send off of the Fox era superheroes. Make fun of MCU before they own all of you.
One more appearance by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine interacting with Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool would make for a solid movie and honestly if done right, can bring this part of the X-Men franchise to a satisfying end that it needs Afterwards perhaps in 2025, they can officially wipe the slate clean with previous actors and bring in new ones for the MCU forward if it’s set to continue post Avengers: Secret Wars

Honestly Logan was just so damn good I feel like Jackman can't really top his performance and the amazing story. I also feel that a lot of people have made their ways with Jackman's performance and character in Logan because it was just the perfect goodbye and bringing him back just feels a bit cheap by Disney.
I love this honest take on the varying X-men performances. I hope that Deadpool 3 is a fun movie, and I also agree that it will not ruin what has come before.
I’d really like to see the film “set in the MCU” in the sense that Deadpool and Logan end up together due to violating the TVA’s rules on time travel (make up some thing about the time stone being okay, but Cable’s device and Logan’s mental time travel via Kitty being against the rules). Then with them both together at the TVA (assuming this is pre-Loki S1) they can work to escape together and toss in multiverse shenanigans. End with Logan returning to the original X-men universe and Wade deciding to stay in the MCU

You can't overlook the fact that the original cast have contracts through 2025, so Marvel is kind of stuck right now. They either wait to give us these characters, or they bring people back for cameos right now. I would also love to see the X-Men rebooted in the MCU, but I'm equally excited to see Jackman's wolverine reunite with Reynolds' Deadpool.
I think the current Disney model is perfect for your vision of exploring more characters. In both the Star Wars and Marvel franchises, the tv serials have been the strongest work. The movies are all about bug extravaganzas to draw a global audience, the anchor stores of the new media mall of Disney, bring an audience to a place the smaller stores/stories can survive. Small screens are the future.
Crossovers and special guest stars like Wolverine are so prevalent in the comics. I like that they do it in the movies. In the comics we also had different versions of Wolverine depending on who was writing or illustrating. So I’m used to this sort of thing and just want to have some fun with it.
I get what you mean with the XMen movies. 1.XMEN- Wolverine and Rouge movie 2.X2- It’s kinda a team movie tbf 3.X3-Wolverine movie. 4.Xmen first class- Magneto, Professer X, Mystique and Beast movie. 5.Xmen days of future past- Wolverine, Mistique, Magneto and Proffeser X movie. 6.Xmen apocalypse- idek who the main team characters are.
This has been my main argument with my friends. I'm not UNHAPPY to see Jackman come back but the reliance on him and Fox's cast and the seemingly reluctance to let them go is the problem. The sooner we put them to rest, the sooner we can wrap our minds around the inevitable recasting of the team. Logan was a perfect send-off and whether DP3 takes place before or after or concurrently is irrelevant. In my opinion, having him come back cheapens Logan a little because we just can't let go
I feel like it continues to establish Wolverine as a stand-alone character which has been going on for quite sometime and it's likely Wolverine won't be part of the MCU's X-Men too soon since they'd want to reassure fans their new X-men won't be Wolverine movies in disguise. Even if they recast eventually they'll probably want him to be a solo character crossing over with X-Men and Avengers alike as he did at some point in the comics.

Mhh might go really wrong. They kinda tried that real world angle in the latest matrix movie and it fell flat. Since its still a movie and not the real world. Creating a real feeling real world in film is really hard. Espacially because it would be zero different from the universe the movies set up minus the thing deadpool and wolverine themselves are. The real world part of the real world is already mcu cannon lets say. Would only work if you bring in characters from a more fantasical world since then the contrast is higher.

I feel like they’ve set up the 90s X-Men theme as a mutant leitmotif so well that Deadpool 3 basically has to use it as a joke. I feel like there will be a lot of mutant cameos, especially if they do lean into the multiverse concept, so it’ll keep happening and Deadpool will be the only one that can hear it.

I'm really excited for it. Ever since Deadpool name dropped Wolverine in the first movie Ive wanted to see them together. And it doesn't ruin Logan for me because 1. Likely this will take place before Logan and 2. As somebody who grew up watching DBZ including the movies which were basically "what if" scenarios. It doesn't both me if something like this doesn't line up perfectly with the original movies
I have heard that several of the actors from First Class had contracts that said that they were the actors to portray their characters through a certain date. Disney would either have to keep using those actors, or wait until that contract expires in order to recast the key members of the X-men, and it seems like they are taking the later approach. I don't have a citation on this, and take it with a grain of salt as completely unconfirmed, but that would explain why Disney/Marvel hasn't done any X-Men reboots since acquiring 20th Century Fox.
I also wanted to see a new Wolverine. Hugh Jackman did his best but only really played Wolverine once. The problem I've heard that they are having is that they can't recast anyone until 2025 or something. The Fox actors are still under contract. So they have to use characters that aren't already cast.
honestly i'd be worried at this point if they do ever try to remake the X-Men franchise, as much as i love it all, they're my favorite super heroes overall, but i've not been feelin' what the MCU has been doin' so not very confident they'd do them much more justice than Sony
@@gravityfalls1826 that's probabaly true, i just worry about who they'd cast, how it'd be written, i've heard bad things about Thor: Love and Thunder, and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, so i just don't feel confident in the direction the MCU is heaading, not saying others can't or shouldn't enjoy them i just don't feel like its for me personally anymore
I agree that for the MCU to include mutants they should do a reboot of all the X-men. But I will admit I am excited to see Hugh return for Deadpool 3. How they will incorporate Deadpool, Wolverine, and the rest of the mutants...I have no idea. I am also curious if they will make a rated R movie as part of the MCU. But now that they have brought in the multiverse concept, continuity really doesn't matter to the story line.
Sorry..but the longer we can delay the Woke nightmare that the new movies will be the better. I expect the recastings for The Mutants to be completely terrible and the old X-Men movies will look like Oscar winners compared to the trash I expect to see in 3 or 4 years at the rate MarvelI is declining.
Logan is set in the future. Even if Logan actually connects with the other Xmen movies, which it doesn't, Deadpool 3 will almost certainly be set before the events of Logan.
I'd love to see a new saga of X-Men films/series, with an all new, mostly unknown cast (the actors, not the characters), and which brings to the spotlight some mutants that never got that much attention, give Cyclops the attention he deserves as leader of the team, have Rogue in her post-CarolDanvers-absorbed version, have Gambit as an actual longterm character, have Kitty Pride accompanied by Lockheed. They have so many characters to work with! It's not just Wolverine, Xavier and Magneto!
Wolverine’s orange and black costume cemented itself as definitive as soon as I saw it in Uncanny X-Men #140 (yes, I know it debuted in #139, but I missed that issue when our local bookstore somehow sold out, and yes, I am that old.) It just immediately made sense to me that he’d wear something that could arguably blend into a forest environment. Of course, it didn’t hurt that it was John Byrne on pencils, who gave us versions of nearly all of the characters (two notable exceptions being the Hulk, who, for whatever reason, never seemed to be translatable to Byrne’s style…at least for me, and Spider-man, who looked just…okay) he worked on look the best they’d ever been. So yeah, orange and black and never go back, or something… Regarding your central thesis, yes, it’s time to move on. We love those actors, of course. But it’s starting to look downright territorial when they keep reprising their roles. And I for one am more than ready for a 5’3” Wolverine.
I feel like this could bring Jackman and potentially a few others into Secret Wars, but then do a hard X-Men reboot as the main arc of Phase 7 and beyond where we have new takes on all the X-Men (except for Deadpool who will remain Reynolds)
I'm really hoping Deadpool 3 ends with him and Wolverine finding the new version of the X-Men in Xaviers' mansion, the movie can end without us even seeing anyone inside it necessarily (although seeing proof of some mutants would be good) as Deadpool and Logan would recognise the place if it's the same mansion; otherwise I suppose a new location and new faces would require them to go inside and say hello. I'm really psyched about the movie btw!
I think we will get classic uniform Wolvie too. In the teaser or whatever you wanna call it, RR was wearing the suit from Remenders X-Force. That has Wolverine and Deadpool and if you read it they make Deadpool the actual heart of the team and it actually works. Good run.
In all reality, Hugh Jackman played the actual character of Wolverine for less than 3 minutes in all the films he's done over (checks Sun Dial) the last 23 years. For the most part it was a different character with the same name.
Expecting an X-Men 2 kinda portrayal of Logan Solely because the costume was in that deleted scene from The Wolverine, I'm banking on the classic suit in live action too
3:32 I absolutely agree about the Orange & Brown costume being better than the Yellow & Blue! “X-Men: Evolution” sealed this opinion for me, and it’s the one that the deleted ending for “The Wolverine” (2013) set up
