It's nice to see the rivers and lakes up again but also sad to see yall scrapping the bottom going river in spots. But compared to last year we will take what we can get.
Absolutely not, you saw his power when he merely had deflated stingray and kids kayak. I shudder to think what could happen if he were given proper equipment.
Yup... ^THIS^ Matt could also maybe make a competion for local schools to build and race boats every year to engage with the community and give the young folks a wholesome project to get them off their Playstations and XBoxes in the Summertime?
When I was in high school 33 years ago we had to build boats out of cardboard hot glue and duct tape only. Thats was so fun.we had categories 1 person, 2 person and 4 person. Many sunk right away while others held up. So I think build your own idea is great but do only cardboard, hot glue and duct tape only.
You know, Matt, for all the stress the Desperado is causing you, a day like this, the beauty around you, and the enjoyment of being with your friends, must surely help you realise that you did a good thing by buying all that land. You're a good man and you deserve some R&R.
I used to work at a company, Tuff Shed. And I’m telling you we used to put out 12 sheds a day as a group of 4 in the shop. I’m here to suggest maybe 20 sheds along the river that you outfit as a tiny cabins Airbnb
@@bower31 you could easily make it into a small cabin. You know your house starts off as unfinished and looks like most sheds before drywall and paint and carpet and blah blah right. if you outfit it for living versus storing things silly.
I can see matts conversation with mere before today. Mere "So what are you doing tomorrow", Matt "doing some work down at the resort, we have to go spend all day surveying the river so its not going to be any fun"
"There are trees here, and water. That's all you need for happiness." 30:00 Matt should visit Finland during the summer. The whole country is literally that, trees and water.
Cover them in flex seal spray for extra durability. Also wrap a cooler in inner tube(s) then inflate and attach a rope to tow it. Just reel it in for refills.
When the river is low enough, you should dig a swimming hole near the rope swing. Take one of your rigs and dig that puppy. That way you have a deep area to jump into!
Mat, its important to log the exact day these things happen every year for reference later. Get a log book or something to record when it gets shallow and floods or freezes and so on
That's what we do in Missouri. Go on float trips. Bring your food and your drinks and float down stream half a day full day it's quite a fun thing to do in the summertime
I always find it crazy when people call these tiny cricks a river. I grew up next to the susquehanna river, it's over a mile wide, and these little trickles of water in my mind are just creeks
Many years ago we’d be dropped off by Parker dam, and float down the river in an inner tubes tied together. Back then, we’d tie a couple six packs to the side of our floaters, it’d keep the brewskis nice and cool. That was to good ol days, not sure you can do it now with all the water crafts out there. Also, what was cool is we’d float right to our camp spot. Must of been at 20 or so miles. Good Times.
Great river! If y'all wanna get out of Texas the current river and black river in Missouri are amazing, crystal clear water, amazing views, super cold water and great campsites.
Everytime I float the Guadalupe I get assaulted by rocks the whole way down and pop my tube! It’s a helluva good time. I’m with Matt I’m happy to be in the river!
I think that crane is taking advantage of all the noise and splashing to scare fish downstream. So essentially he's using you as a hunting mechanism. If that's true, that would be so epic, LOL
On the upstream part, you'll probably want to go back and trim some of the low-lying branches, move a couple of rocks that would make it easier, and make waterproof map copies to guide each party, especially telling them go left or go right at each divide. As I mentioned before, when water is really low or dry, you want to dig some deep holes in your part of the river bed that will give the fish cooler spaces to chill and be safe until your hooks and lures hit the water.
Dang man. Watching this really makes me miss living in the woods. Grew up on creeks, spent a lot of time on the Little Muskingum river in Ohio. Can't wait to be able to move out in the stucks again.
July is the 37th anniversary of a flood on that calm river that killed 10 teens on a camping trip. Flash floods in Texas are crazy. I witnessed one when I was a kid and it was the Guadalupe in Hunt TX. The water rose about 15 feet and cut off the two halves of the camp I was attending for several days.
I don't know why it took me until this video to think of this but this place would make for an amazing summer trip for a scouting troop. Could probably do half the outdoor badges in existence at the ranch.
Matt, I've been following you since your vet days. I had to let you know that out of all your videos over the years from all your channels, this video is my number one favorite. Like I said, I've been following for years. This is the best of the lot. I wish I could float done that river. The scenery alone is gorgeous,
You could also advertise floating photographic tours just after flood events while the river's still high enough for kayaking. Keen nature and wildlife photographers would love a gentle paddle down towards the resort, kayaks, life jackets, and lunch included, of course. To raise a bit of cash towards the ongoing rebuilding and restoration, why not take a kayak along the same course, photograph the best views, and sell the prints, either framed or unframed. Printing your own isn't difficult and once you master the digital photographic software and how it can be paired with Microsoft Publisher for example, you can create a whole range of effects and sizings. I did this for myself to great effect. I quite literally saved over £2,000 by doing it myself.
On locomotives I have experienced owls at night and hawks during the day doing the same as the crane ..... at slow speeds the locomotive will scare out mice and other prey from railroad ties and make an easy meal. Railroader from PA, love the videos
There's nothing like floating/kyaking down these rivers. I grew up on the Frio and used to kayak from my grandmother's to Garner all the time. 5 mile trip. Any chance to open the Desperado to day kayaking? Make an area for camping with a food truck. That way people could come during the day and float/kayak the river. I have friends who would gladly do that right now.
The trees along the banks look absolutely amazing, they look ancient. You'd never think that you're floating around in a river in Texas, it's really impressive.👍
Matt's videos are so entertaining and enjoy listening to his commentary. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and the music he chooses is awesome. He's got really great taste of music which makes this video as a whole a really top experience.
Matt, this is how you set it up not trying to tell you how to do it but this would be fun set up a 556 mile kayak/float and also set up a 7.62 mile kayak float you’re giving us options.Lol
You don’t need a nudist colony on the Guadalupe to see bits and pieces. Well, I haven’t been down it in a couple of decades but that’s how it used to be. Also, fun fact, certain types of smoke will hover just a little ways above the water. Float down in your tube, occasionally sit up and breathe deep. Free fun.
Ohhhh wow once I saw the bridge brought me back to some old memories floating down there! Going to have to take the family out to check everything out once yall are up and running
Matt, I really need a story on how you meet Mikey. We love the interaction between you two. I can tell he is a good friend. I’m just curious on how y’all met.
Awesome video!!! It is absolutely beautiful there! I went tubing on the Guadalupe from New Braunfels years ago, missed my get out point and had to go through private property to get back lol. AND worst sunburn ever! Still tons of fun though but LOTS of people. I like this quiet part much better.😊
Brought my brand-new folding kayak to Bootiesnapplefest & got to kayak near main camp! Wonderful experience! The little rapids were a blast! Looking forward to next time!!
You know, once upon a time the Ohio River was described as one of the most beautiful rivers in the world with it's clear water.... I wouldn't swim in it today, that's for sure. 200 years ago, probably. 😂
The trip the boys did in this video could've turned into Deliverance 2: The Desperado Situation at the drop of a hat if the natives weren't friendly... 😳
After owning a kayaking rental business, I cannot recommend enough if you plan on doing rentals to get sit on kayaks. No water inside and easy to hose off! Specifically Perception Kayaks seemed to be the best quality for the price.
There is one already that Mere started the day after the first Desperado vid came out. Mere's Wineatorium, featuring curated selections of boxed wine, included are wine glass tossing classes:) I'm really really worried about her liver now.
get some truck innertubes. I used to go down the Niagara River with some friends on innertubes. We tied them all together so no one would be in danger. 2 cases of beer in the middle. We were drunk by the time we got to the Yacht club, but it was a good time.
That’s how most people do it. They were goofing off with the pool floats. Every year we’d make a new ice chest tube with a scrap piece of plywood cut to make a bottom for a tube. My brother and I would take goggles to dive down to recover various items at the end of rapids.
HEY MATT READ THIS Do NOT use a wire brush to clean the grille The wires will break off and end up on the grille and eventually into your food. Use a wooden grille scraper
Pressure washer, onion, bug spray, and a stick of butter. If it’s cast, sand it and buff, then season it with (pick your commercially available grill prep compound). You’ll thank me later
In Finland we have this annual river beerfloating event and we just float slowly downriver with floats like these and drink beer in them all day. good times
One of the best videos you've had in awhile. I feel the same way about lakes and rivers as you do. Loved the barbecue and mtn bike ones also. Not so much the caves. I'm starting to feel like: not another cave video! Prefer the great outdoors not the undergroung.
