We do love the Rivermont area of Lynchburg VA! You are close to a couple cool eateries, Randolph College, and a very short drive to Downtown Lynchburg Virginia. You have some housing and real estate choices that include brand new construction and existing homes too. (You're really not far from Liberty University, the University of Lynchburg, or Virginia University of Lynchburg either. Actually, you're pretty close to Sweet Briar College too - only 25 minutes.)
We love Elmwood Avenue. It has a number of homes with that Mid Century Modern architecture (we almost bought one for an investment property) and now NEW CONSTRUCTION at the Blackwater Run development. From this new development, you'll have walking access to the Blackwater Trail! Very cool.
