I love the contrast between moon and pebbles. While moon adores the slugcats each for what they have done, wether their trip to her or for other tasks they need to do. Compared to pebbles who calls us “your kind,” he rarely addresses us by our own singular character, and in his dying moments, he still holds the same tone of aggression, wanting us gone from him, yet he knows there’s always another yet to come…
@@catpoke9557 Which is a very nice character ark for him. He slowly comes to appreciate their presence, which in turn makes us appreciate his. It’s a nice way to make both the player and the character “bond” with each other, which I think is nice.
I mean, Hunter revived her and Rivulet reactivated her + its implied Survivor/Monk gave her some neurons and the clothing, so yeah, slugcats always helped Moon
JUST WALK OUT you can leave work social thing echo shelter lizards rain daddy long legs too fancy scav toll centipedes if you're quick friend ships IF IT SUCKS... HIT DA BRICKS!! real winners quit
Ngl i was super confused on how to get into moons systems because i used the gravity thing to just launch myself into the ceiling where moon is and went through the secret pipe there. And then was scratching my head on how the hell can I get citizenship.
I love that 5p had dialouge specificly for if you die to the DLL in his chamber after showing him the gravity core. Apperently devs experienced that at least once during test runs and found it funny enough to dedicate a lolz to it. edit: gash dangit, how did this happen? Since when did this comment get so many likes and comments?
Since your the most popular comment, I'm going to post my thing here so it reaches people. So, alot of this has reminded me of something. Five Pebbles slowly rotting away and losing his memories from his neurons being eaten by the rot, his structure breaking down, and at the end he sits down and just waits for his demise. Doesn't this remind you of something? Something in the real world, something that affects people, something that affects someone's brain and slowly kills it? It's a metaphor for dementia.
I only just realized that Pebbles has one of his overseers listening to moons last monologue, that's kinda wholesome knowing that he was at least able to see her get back to functionality
the story is so good being very honest, my second favorite campaign, first favorite campaign would be artificer but for the different mechanics, concepts and favorite region.
Rivulet's campaign is easily the best one of the new slugcats, he's a fast boi, water puzzles aren't puzzles, has a satisfying lore conclusion, and most important of all, The Rot area is tolerable and LTTM's is goated
Ok but I’m just gonna throw my opinion. I’ve beat the artificer campaign, and metropolis is easily my new favorite area. It’s massive, there’s tons to explore, tons of really cool moments like the tallest tower, and the scavs feel like they were dumbed down a little so that you can have as much fun as possible going doom eternal on them
@@TheMantisLord50 I think what's happening with scavs is that their reputation is locked at a small negative value. Anything past around -50 is kill on sight, but for artificer their behaviour looks more like -20 or -30, higher than what hunter starts with
for me its kinda of the opposite, no hate! just my personal opinion, five pebbles kinda already has a squishy voice and i think it fits him so well, everytime reading his dialogue i hear the unintelligible speech sounds in my mind.
I think the reading was a tad overzealous, given the state Pebbles was in at the time. The inflection was all off and doesn't convey his emotions properly. Anger in general and anger at yourself sound very different when spoken, and the latter should've been called for rather than the spite in his reading.
Saint : “W h a t.” Rivulet : “ Y-yeah I know I just did something better than you just did-“ *After the incident , Rivulet was spotted near a spider cave with lots of symptoms from Stage 4 Ligma , Artificer suspects Saint ascended is liver…to the plain of not existing.*
"oh gosh, spearmaster's ending is so cute! i wish there was a little more drama though ... " / artificer and hunter: 👀 "wow, those endings were crazy! but i think a little more fluff would be nice ... " / gourmand & the bros: 👀 "it's so nice that the slugcats can have a cute ending! it's a shame that the iterators are just sad forever ... " / rivulet: 👀 "aww, everyone lives happily ever after! this can't get fucked up afterwards, right?" / saint: 👀👀👀
I mean, Saint is providing the highest of services to the creatures by ascending them. They get to flee the infinite cycle, which has been stated to be something that every being wants to escape.
The ending made me emotional af. After spending all of Monk, Survivor and Hunter seeing Moon be completely lost beyond repair, wishing we could do something for her, we finally manage to do it. Actually fucking cried.
Also the description of some scav stumbling upon a pearl Rivulet dropped and thinking “huh, fancy that. I kinda like that wet rat a bit more.” 🤣 “the chieftain”
5:42 “hold on I gotta show you something” was ADORABLE I love that you felt the need to leave her some entertainment, be kind, show off your snazzy new slugcat like you’re a kid with light up sneakers. Wholesome 10/10
Just realised that based on what we know about the heights of Ancients, Rivulet could probably backflip into one's face, since they're like, 2x/3x a slug's height
"I doubt any creature could get anywhere near [FP]" Moon, listen. I gunned it towards FP on my first run, got in, got back out too. Have you seen my gilled fabulousness? You don't even know. Rivulet is so many fast I can't even!
Big sis moon got her sibling back and met a new sibling/friend/pet :> This run is so wholesome, I cant handle the fact that Moonsie named the rivulet Ruffles.
Each slugcat takes place at a different time in the game something is maybe in the past and the saint is far in the future. When you give moon clothes in one slugcat plaything she'll have clothes in one playthrough that takes place in the future. But the braincell or whatever is something idk.
10:58 that shit caused me to fucking freeze in place when i saw it...really put into perspective just how destructive the rot honestly was, turning so much of five pebbles to just...nothing
Random theory, but during the stream das (and in this vid) asked where BSM got her new clothes from. my guess is that it`s her old one, but faded and torn due to all the water. could easily be wrong though, i don`t remember if she had pre-dlc or not or if they where different also, at 14:32 it looks like 5P is petting rivulet..
Honestly i just thought that the other iterators have constantly been sending assistance the whole time, which wouldve explained the additional neurons as well as the clothes.
@@LordoftheNightWolves Moon mentions that scavengers bring her things from time to time, maybe they found her old clothes, or could be some random torn rag as well
It's from Monk or Survivor! Canonical probably Monk. If you go into Submerged Superstructure on either of those, you can find the cloak, bring it to Moon and she'll start wearing it
Seeing Das going through the rotted memory crypts makes me appreciate my first experience with rivulet's 5p - climbing the wall, clueless, then noticing that the gravity is consistent in the pictures room, then seeing that one piece of rot at the end of corridor to 5p's chamber, and finally entering his chamber moments later, to be shocked by just how much his condition has deteriorated.
It surprises me that Iterators don't have maintenance droids. Like the spooders on PB's red bricks Moon mentions that the Rarefaction cells became wholly necessary bc their creators couldn't maintain the structure bc they're all, well, dead. Surprised they didn't make some Sentinel-like mfs to repair the place, and take directions from data pearls. Oh well, glad Moon's back tho
i believe in some exclusive 5p dialouge w arti, he mentions that the relationship between the ancients and interators were symbiotic, so i assume it *was* the ancients that managed the uptake of the iterators, and they probably assumed that there were always gonna be other ancients on the planet, so they didn't really think about making anything to keep their artificial god babies alive before they all went for a goop bath.
They do have something like that, a being called an Inspector. It seems the Ancients designed them to be as self sustaining for as long as possible with fewer critical parts to break down. The problem with standard maintenance drones is you need drones to maintain them, and so on and so forth. As is, all resources are developed on site, either through void fluid or the eco system itself. Requiring no extended supply chain to complicate things. Computing systems are semi organic and perpetually renewing, using clean water as a medium. Most actual working technology is simple-iron wheels, heated coils and steam turbines. Hands on work and observation is done by small machines made entirely of hard light or solid holographic mechanisms, not susceptible to damage or wear. Peebs managed to break the game when he messed up his organic wiring.
@@mothhuuny I think its moreso that they didn't think there would always be other ancients, but that the duty of the iterators only mattered so long as ancients still existed. their goal was to solve the problem for the ancients, and if the ancients were all gone, there would be no one to solve it for, so the iterators no longer needed to exist or function properly. I suppose that means they kept them from self destruction after that point out of spite.
There's a lore pearl in the game that basically means this. Everything inside the perimeter of the iterators aka the cities, buildings, facilities, everything. before the iterators and the iterators themselves are incorporated with a microbe that self-repairs at a pace that can outpace the abrasion of rain. which is why the landscape rarely changes unless something really really bad happened
@@squeaky1963 To double down on my above comments...the line between living and non living material effectively doesn't exist in Rain World as we know it. Slugcat is descended from a purposed organism. But entire buildings are also considered purposed organisms, literally grown with rooms for living space and machinery. They grow and draw energy from the environment like plants. We've been developing self sealing concrete in the real world...this is the end state.
That cut from serene music and me tearing up over five pebbles to a super speed ascension montage with loud music shocked me in both my body and my weakened heart
I was absurdly spoiled for this game, but one moment I still wasn't expecting was the rivulet's memory crypts, I knew that by rivulet 5P was bad but I didn't know quite how bad it was...
I just had a thought- so moon’s dialogue before giving her the cell states that the iteratiors control the weather, and that five pebbles was the main cause for the heavy rains, as he was loosing control of his anti gravity from rot. That’s why the downpours were so fatal to the slug cats, he literally was keeping the water in the sky with his own gravity, or maybe pulling it down with his cells? When you hand give moon the cell, everything turns to snow. It’s moons way of dealing with the weather. That’s why everything becomes cold in saint’s campaign. The random blizzards/downpours could also be explained by this, then, as both moon and five pebbles are broken, and because five pebble’s worsening state meant that the downpours only got worse, as moon fixes herself maybe she will be able to lessen the blizzards/downpours and that could mean a theory on fully functioning iterators allowing for normal weather instead of such harsh cycles. That might not be the case, but it’s fun to think about!
slugcat review: pros: is blue can hold breath for long very fast jump big almost the most important slugcat cons: he is the perfect life form, he has no flaws, except that he is a slugcat. verdict: 9/10, would play again
i would like to acknowledge that if you take a look at the projections that moon's overseers are showing to her and pebbles, they're most likely playing a game of dominoes at all times, how nice :p
This was such a chaotic livestream, from trying to figure out where the Battery is inside FP or trying to figure out where Moon's entrance and exit are to her Superstructure Either way the lore was just Amazing ln this one, and the ending is bittersweet. But we already know the road ahead isn't too Good for the timeline. Also *WET MOUSE* REEEEE xD And Scruffles,
rainworld except the slugcats swarm 5p while 5p cant do anything (they are being abnormally snuggly and were sent by a false iterator from another planet to repair things]
Definitely may favorite of the new five! The gameplay fixes everything I hated about my initial playthrough of rainworld (annoying swimming mechanics, slow movement, too many deaths from enemies, etc.) and then adds probably one of if not the coolest new campaigns. My least favorite areas in the game used to be shoreline and drainage system because they were so tedious with the swimming, but now they are just as fun as any other section, and the new areas (especially that sick snow area) are a fun inclusion. It just fits the way I like to play.
Rivulet's campaign is crazy. I expected artificer's campaign to be my favorite, but rivulet's campaign is by far and away my favorite. And that's ridiculous because artificer's campaign rivaled the quality of the 1st survivor playthrough.
even though i watched a good amount of the streams as well as the compilations afterward, going into the new regions is still a whooole ass adventure...still only on artificer and the area before waterfront facility was one hell of a ride. anyway, been really enjoying the content, as usual, and what i managed to catch of the streams. Can't wait for your lore compilations, wildlife vids, or other ideas you get for the expansion.
Idk if this is a mod but when playing as survivor you can find a cloak and give it to moon, it might’ve gone canon during the dlc and originally was meant to be optional (as a commenter had guessed where I had seen the video from) so maybe that’s why we didn’t see it in monk
One thing that really struck me was how good the atmosphere and sound design was in The Rot and Submerged Superstructure. Even for the insanely high bar set by this game these two regions immersed me to an insane degree.
The Rot (Depths) has got to be my favorite area just for the atmospheric music. The wiggly (sorry, I couldn't think of a better way to describe it) sound of the music in the area just conveys the level of rot infestation so insanely well, you no longer feel like your in a machine, it's something else. And the one room where you can see that the inside is completely exposed to the outside is so cool. I really want to see more people's reactions to The Rot (depths) and how truly alien it feels.
Am I the only dumbtard who explored Submerged Superstructure BEFORE getting to 5p? I don't know how I missed the obvious nudge in that direction. Lemme tell you though, exploring that area without the faster swimming from the core AND with the super short cycle timer was thrilling to say the least
So... I love the development in this mod- that you aren't just constrained to happenings of base RW, you see what happens after Also... it feel both gut wrenching and yet idk closing and good to see that Five Pebbles got what he wished for, after all that happened. Yeah, he came out as quite an asshole in base game, but there is some understanding why
I loved the ending of Rivulet, is really pretty the hard work he made it to restore moon c: About the ending of Ascension..... is really disappointed and hilarius at the same time how the devs didn't even't try to make scenarios for it, and i talking about the Gourmand and Rivu endings.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH my pain! Before watching this, i playeed rivulet myself and Accidently went to the underwater superstructure WITHOUT bringing the core. I was wondering why that area was so damn hard...
Imma be real, Moon's dress.... It-It does the job, I'm sad them thunder thighs is gone, but the dress kinda leaves allot to the imagination.... Also, she named Rivulet,"Ruffles" that's so fucking cute.
Hooooohhhhh boyyy Riv punched me in the gut haha…thought about it and Saint’s storyline for days (still am!!) 👁👁💕💖. So much effort…omg it’s insaneee 😭💫✨! But again, wonderful work on the editing as always, I’m glad you liked Rivulet’s storyline ^^✨!! We all thought Riv was a little funky goofer critter off to the side that just is semi aquatic with no explanation before Downpour’s release but loOOK!!! Riv freaking helps the iterator!! The way moon put it was incredible XD “And yet, you rebooted a giant organic supercomputer and brought peace between two godlike entities of which you have no understanding. But why?” I too want to know what was going on in Riv’s head while they were doing this-a personal headcanon of mine is that they call the rarefaction cell a ‘cycle stopper’ 👀✨. But anyways haha, yesss new lore for iterator logs…looking forward to it 👁👁💖💕. Love your stuff Das, glad you’re having fun with Downpour ^^💝⭐💫✨
With the clothes and extra neurons, I'm pretty sure it's implied that Monk was the one to do that. In Saint's campaign you can see an overseer projection which shows Monk holding two neurons.
I hope that in the campaign of a green sluggcat we can bring 5pebells to the moon so they can live together (Oh, and also hope we would meet Ruffles in the future :) )
I don't even play this game but I found your channel awhile back and have been excited for the dlc for sometime now just so I could watch you do it. I'm not disappointed at all. Can't wait to see the next one.
do kind of wish moon would have begun some sort of rebuild project, perhaps with assistance or support of the scavengers to create something from the wreckage of her iterator can. the story is nice but for all the work of the ancients to simply fade without defiance seems... disappointing. much like distant horizon, finding a new purpose to live for rather then submit to the ancient's suicidal arrogance. also as a bit of a side note the ancients didn't all want to die at first, some wanted to keep living but eventually they had enough.
@@forkgodsdescendant2503 or quite honestly a scavenger one, given that not only are they shown to be capable of building actual structures from the assorted scrap laying about, they understand the concept of payment for goods and services so if moon could get one of the memory construct pearl printers operational again, that would be problem solved for labour
Out of the many developments and crazy things that happened during this path, I think what surprised me the most was that the game let you explore and ascend after the main plot ends. A lot went into all of Downpour, but this feels like the biggest flex yet.
Spoilers!! maybe... Is 5 Pebbles dead on the saint run? I know he's the last one in the time line and that 5P chamber is empty as well but someone said that you could ascend 5P and BSM with the Saint at some point but i haven't seen evidence of this.
He did do a Saint stream, though it'll be in the live tab rather than videos. If i remember rightly 5P's chamber is just completely empty. He didn't go to moon so i assume she's either unreachable or also gone, I'm not familiar enough with the map layout to pick them out in the scuffed up state they're in, so i can't really confirm if he went through her structure or not, but it seemed like the majority of the areas in the game had collapsed in some way.
@@weiss4855 someone said you could find them in some way and that's what i'm trying to deduce if it's real or not actually, since the rumor goes that you can make them ascend
5P is dead by the time saint happens. 5p has collasped and the enviroment has become cold and full of blizzards due to iterators being the ones keeping the habitats in check
@@weiss4855 He did reach moon with saint! and moon was impressed because saint could understand her without the mark of communication, and he could not find 5 pebbles (at the end of the stream it was an empty chamber)
12:43 pretty much everytime Das voice acts for one of the characters his audio sometimes just cuts off at the end of sentences, but it never happens when he just talks normally... how does that work? is it just too quiet for the mic to activate?
