This book gave me an intense fear of death and depression when I first read it. I was 19 so I wasn't really aware of my own mortality and that's propably why it hit me sonhard. Still my favorite book to this day.

For me I don't think it made me fear death, but did have me pondering mortality. I absolutely loved the novel despite its bleakness.

My favorite McCarthy book by far. Such a grim read.

The only other book of his that I've read was Blood Meridian. I liked that one but enjoyed The Road much more.
