👉Čičmany is a small Slovak village with wooden houses that preserve traditional folk architecture, located in the hilly Žilina region of Slovakia; houses that, in addition to the preserved folk architecture, have geometric figures drawn with white paint.
👉A reservation was established in Čičmany in 1977. The reservation has 136 houses.
👉 The characteristic and unique element of log houses in Čičmany is the exterior decorated with geometric patterns. The painting was meant to protect the logs from the effects of sunlight. The ornamentation on the houses was also used in the embroidery applied to clothes, paintings or tablecloths.
