In 1747, a road was laid out from York, Pennsylvania through the Marsh Creek Settlement. In 1769, the Baltimore and Shippensburg Road was established creating an intersection near the site of Samuel Gettys' Tavern. As the years passed, that intersection grew into one of the more prosperous towns in South Central Pennsylvania and by the time of the Civil War, ten road intersected at Gettysburg. Join Tim Smith of the Adams County Historical Society as we discuss the development and history of each of the ten roads that leads to our famous county seat.
