You can tell Rocky had a very good old fashioned up bringing ,hes always so respectful with his guests and always his opponents in the ring a real classy guy.R.I.P. CHAMP.49-0
Rocky Marciano was a champion in and out the ring.....a really tough great unbeaten champ in the ring.....but a softly spoken , humble, respectful gentleman out of it....class guy
Rocky was a credit to boxing,in & out of the ring. For someone that came from Massachusetts & didn’t have a prejudiced bone in his body, too bad more people from his are weren’t more like him.I can see why he was so beloved
Nat king cole, a great great singer, And a very unique talent! And Rocky the greatest heavyweight Champion. Jimy durante, a great And total talent. George raft, a Great great actor, of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Wow! Old-Timers, great! Not a boxing fan really, but I sure knew Rocky M's name, and fame. Nat King Cole was so, so classy and what a musician! Then Last but NOT least, George Raft, what a treat. From boxing to baseball to dancing to acting - he was so versatile. And another old-fashioned, true "gentleman." Thanks, This was a wonderful video!
I remember watching this show as a child. My mother and stepfather woke me up and took me into the livingroom. On television was the irrepressible Nat "King" Cole, on a boxing show hosted by the late Rocky Marciano. I didn't know anything about the Brockton Blockbuster at the time. However, I did know a lot about Nat "King" Cole. I was eight years old, and also in the the third grade at the time. It's great to see this program on youtube. I'm one of Nat's biggest fans, even then.
If you haven't heard Nat sing - and play the piano - you haven't lived. He had a superb set of pipes, and if you can believe those who understand such things, he was a better piano player than he was a singer!h He died far too young at 45. Damned cigarettes!
anyone know the song that was played on the Piano by Jimmy durante? would love a listen, Love to you all and My blessings to MR. Marciano and the Marciano familia
Never, do I hear about any tribute, or praise, for the only UNDEFEATED heavy weight boxing champion in history, evidently he's the wrong ethnicity to be acknowledged by today's society.
This generation , they have no idea how great the old time fighters were, Rocco the ultimate warrior, would,ve pounded the shit out of Liston, and I herd the great Harry greb middleweight and only one to beat the great gene Tunney sparred with the great Dempsey and was jacking him up, both of them out weighed greb by 30 + pounds, I herd he also sparred jack Johnson and he was just to tough and fast for them, but I can guarantee he would, not beat rocco
Marciano was the best of the best to step in the ring in my humble opinion., and furthermore was a humble sweet hearted man and not a Boaster Bragger. That is a quality that has eluded the current status quo unfortunately.
Great fighter, he'd of killed Ali, and Ali knew it, I just wish Paterson and Liston were highly ranked before rocky retired, because if he fought them everyone would have to agree, no HW beats him to strong to tuff and to conditioned, he couldn't box but that's what made him so hard beat
Nat : "How quiet the audience is at the particular time they are performing it is a great tribute to an artist".......wait a couple years Nat.....all that will change!
Rocky was a Boxer/Fighter in a decade where Fitness was no where near what it became after Cassius Clay , Clay was superior too all of the big names , Rocky was the great White Hope, of that time a lovely guy but limited in ring speed and the fine arts of the sport, Shame he died in a plane accident , a decent human being Nat King Cole my favorite singer of all time
Watch some video analysis of Rocky's fights. His defense was actually quite refined and effective, just not dramatic, never moving 2 inches when 1 would do. Compare his jumping in with a right lead to Joe Frazier's offense, Rocky is much more effective, in spite of his short arms. Fitness? No one has ever been more fit, or pound for pound strong. No, he couldn't catch Ali, but he could slip & block all of Ali's punches. What would happen? Quite possibly, after going all 15, Rocky"d get a UD for being the aggressor throughout. Dancing away doesn't win fights, unless you also made good contact.
Peter Wood-Jenkins That couldn’t be more inaccurate...... to say ROCKY MARCIANO wasn’t a well trained Boxer is the equivalent to saying that because Micheal Jordan was a poor junker he played below then rim..... it’s an utterly unsure inaccurate comment.
Your wrong, what do you mean white hope, undefeated against black fighters too, do you know who named float like a butterfly, sting like a butterfly ali the greatest ali named himself the greatest, ali couldn't punch hard enough to beat Rocco also, Rocco would catch up to ali and destroy him, he never stopped punching for 15 rounds, no other heavyweight could keep up with his pace, ali was lazy
