To all: Dont forget pop filter. Understand using this particular setup from visual perspective, but as I concentrated on a quality of sound and not a content in studio headphones (Audio-technica M50) there was a strong and quite annoying pop sound (is it proper term in english???). I am using Rode mic too, but NT1 model (plus Steinberg interface). But I always use shockmount AND pop filter. Its looks like useless poseur flycather, but its works pretty well. True is that I made mostly voicovers or only audio products, moreover this negative pop sound depends mostly on distance from mic, than used language and personal pronunciation, but for better and cleaner audio quality of a voice (This is a poin of this video, isn it?) I strongly recommend to use it. And dont forget studio headphones (pretty amazing cost from 80 to 200 euros), otherwise you will never hear a defects in your production. And dont forget check your sound on smarphone speakers if the message (point) is understandable. Because not every listener/ viewer have 1000 euros headphones to explore the deepest corners of our audio genius :-D :-D :-D

Procaster has built in pop filter. And with hood as well it should be enough.

@@pipwot169 as someone with a procaster the built in popfilter may as well not be there, its pretty much useless after doing a/b testing with it vs without i have i cut up a stereotypical foam filter plus some lighter filters and stuck them in the screw cap of the microphone, cut down on the pops and breath noise when i have to get close

I use it for radio news and it hardly gives me any problems. @@shadeshotTV

What pop filter are you currently using? looks super minimal compared to the WS2 while still having a tight fit.

Good video. I have the same set up but cannot seem to get that good a sound out of the mic. Any suggestions?

What does it sound like? How far are you away from the mic? The closer, the better but not lips touching the mic or plosives will be heard. Do you do any audio processing afterwards? I use Auphonic as you might have seen in the video.

Hey! I was wondering, Do I really NEED a cloud lifter if I want to use this mic? What do you think?
@AureliusTjin
@AureliusTjin 10 месяцев назад
You do not need a cloud lifter if you’re okay adding gain post production. The only exception is if you’re planning on streaming then you would need one.

@@AureliusTjin Is it that quiet? Can’t I just increase my gain on my interface?

@@techlifejournal you might be able to change the pattern mode to “cardioid mode” so that it only picks up sound that’s directly on front of it. It seems like it might be in omnidirectional mode.

@@AureliusTjin yeah I have done that but still it picks up cpu fan noise. I tried obs noise cancelling but still same only krisp works but it is just 60mins per day free. Looking for other open-source alternatives. Hope I will find some. If you know some please do suggest me

I've owned the Rode PODcaster MkII for about 6 yrs. I'm struggling with low input levels, having to boost it significantly in post, which invariably brings in other ambient sounds, making it a longer process than necessary. Like a fool, I opted for the USB version instead of the XLR version. Now realise (thanks to your video) I need to buy the Focusrite Scarlett Solo (plus leads, plus Cloudlifter or Dynamite DM1) to boost input volume... before I add a new Rode XLR PROcaster to the shopping basket, is there any way to make my existing USB mic work with the Focusrite Scarlett Solo - or a similar quality amp?
