May 22, 2024 Webinar
The crisis continuum of care is comprised of three pillars: someone to call (crisis call centers), someone to respond (mobile crisis teams), and a safe place to go (crisis stabilization options or peer-run respite options). While most mental health crises can be de-escalated over the phone, text or chat, some help seekers need an in-person response, and mobile crisis teams and peer-run respite options are essential alternatives to law enforcement or traditional emergency departments. This webinar will focus on the crucial role of peer support specialists in providing an in-person response to a range of mental health concerns, including serious mental illness, ultimately helping to improve outcomes and divert individuals from justice system involvement or emergency department boarding.
Speakers:
• Susan Morris (she/her), Program Coordinator at Phoenix I-HELP Homeless Shelter
• Vic Welle (they/them), Peer Support Trainer
