It is strange that they do not see the sinfulness of the situation and possibly of their own actions. This is a war between Orthodox Christians. It is sad that theses monks are blind to this fact. They should stay in their monasteries (where monks are suppose to be) and pray for peace.
"They should stay in their monasteries". Priests are not supposed to be where sin is? Is this what you are asserting? And what makes you think "they do not see the sinfulness of the situation"? "And possibly of their own actions". What sins are they committing exactly?
Generally, war is a sinful thing. It is much better to prevent it. ...but since it started (these monks definitely not sterted it) the Church MUST be with its people: soldiers at yhe frontline, civil at the backline etc. The mission of the monks is to remind the soldiers about Christian values at the war. There are many saints in Orthodoxy (especially Greek saints) that have been soldiers during their Earthly life.
They are needed most on the front lines where soldiers need to confess they face death and God's judgement everyday they need God's serventa their with them more than anyone.
orthodox in name only a lot and a schismatic church is involved whhose icons incl. a nazoid element and ukrainain govt. persecutes the canonical church giving its properties to the shismatic church whose head does not have Apostolic Succesiion, and the ukrainian govt persecuted ethnic russians the whole thing is more complex than your simplistic take on it.
most Orthodox followers would say Jesus founded the Orthodox church and there was a split within it which Roman Catholicism derives from, however most would not call a heretical sect as "cult". Ironically your emotionality is demonstrative of those who grew up in a cult.
