I hope not the greatest, because that would mean that all younger bands, including the bands that are formed 200 years from now, will be crappy at learning from their predecessors, but a really tough and amazing bar to beat indeed. It sure amazes me that they can still pull off such a fine and awesome concert, at age over 70. Impressive. Enjoyable. Those are real professionals at their field.
Steve Allen Imagine a chart of greatest rock bands...In first place come Led Zeppelin, then there go a few empty slots and then come The Rolling Stones...simple as that, I am not insulting Stones I like them too, dont get me wrong,,.
jaxxity As far as strict musicianship, they aren't spectacular. But there's more than just playing involved. The Stones, particularly Keith, have made being a rock star an art.
Steve Allen ... Totally with you Steve, you said the best band not the best music ... a rock & roll band needs lots of stage presence, something the Beatles lacked, great songwriters, crap stage performers! Led Zep were good on stage but nobody combined it all like Mick & Co. :-)
To people bashing Keith Richards, he's fucking 71 years old for fuck's sake! Of course he's supposed to be not as good as he was 40 years ago. At 71 years old, I'd be lucky to stand for 2 hours straight without playing a guitar so I applaud him for being able to that. Although I must admit, Keef skill-wise is not the best even 40 years ago but you would really have to dig deep to find a guitarist who has a greater body of songwriting and riffs than the Keef. And oh btw, many artist, young and old, has someone backstage playing their parts incase they make a mistake. It's a pretty normal thing to do so get the fuck over it.
The Band is MAGNIFICENT, the subtle cuts ,the defining stone rips ,the professional balance Charlie shows without drawing attention to himself .Thank God for the Stones man ,they make us all walk a little cooler and taller and Great finding Lisa accentuate the sexiness of the music the stones really are great
Lisa has still got it after so many years with the best rock & roll band ever her voice is still the best you’ll ever hear perform gimme shelter and always was
What a f****ing MONSTER! Huge sound. Man they are still killing it. And Lisa Fischer kicked that sucker into orbit. Gimme Shelter is one of the greatest rock songs, and this has to be one of its greatest performances. Rolling Stones=Rock and Roll
I agree, but you should have =seen= her do this with Mick on their very first tour together supporting "Steel Wheels." Drop dead =stunner=. (Look for the "Atlantic City 1989" videos here on YT.)
Can we take a moment to appreciate how good Ronnie Wood is as a guitarist? He’s truly stepped up and shown a tremendous musicality having to pick up the slack for Keith with his arthritis taking its toll. Absolutely amazing playing on his part.
Mr. Wood is a tremendous guitarist, better than many of the so-called guitar gods and shredders. He willingly tones it down to fit the band, a consummate professional. I love that his playing is always tasty and sublime, not ear piercing and frenetic.
@@c.j.rogers2422 People forget how highly regarded he was before he joined the Stones. At the time, one of the few who could have come into the band and be more than a simple replacement.
Truly incredible performance by THIS lineup. Legendary for their age. No one ever honed talent as a front man better than Mick. He's more polished and in control with his presentation at 70 then ever before. ( I was 11 when they first arrived in the 60's). Lisa perfectly unreal in her dimension. Keith and band so tight sound amazing. My favorite RS song (listened to every version found) others quite up there, but this my personal favorite. Others have theirs. None alive in the '60's imagined seeing them perform this far into their/our days.
Lisa Fischer fits right in, complementing the guys beautifully without trying to make it her show. I've loved her talent since she was with Luther Vandross.
Never sit down! Always jam. Listen to the music! Love children. Respect elders. Worship your Higher Being and jam! On a daily basis. I grew up in the 60s jamming and still do. I still dance too!!
+Shirley Thomas Oh yeah- gotta be done. This always makes me reach for my guitar- sadly, I'm no Keith Richards but hey....... I'm trying! Love and Peace.
Eddie Simpson same here for me Mr. Simpson IMHO they are the greatest rock and roll band in the world....and I have heard them all and seen 90% perform live over the past six decades.
ROLLINGSTONES & Lisa Fisher are beautifully talented performers w "Gimme Shelter" performance......Jesus Loves The ROLLINGSTONES....HAPPY Valentines forthcoming.....
good lord the sexiness and rock on that stage! Lisa is one hot ass woman with a voice that will bring you to your knees and seeing Mick and Keith smiling and laughing knowing Lisa just nailed it, makes this one of the best live performances ever!
What a band. Keef starts the motor, puts the thing in gear and then at 0.45 drives the band like a monstrous rocking juggernaut, blasting out deafening roars from his guitar while Charlie keeps the engine room chugging. I've seen the Stones many times and they never fail to do the business. Magnificent.
Wow !!! one of their best performances ever!! They start to swing with thunder from square one to the last square. Wonderfully bluesy from Keith, he works from african beauty where not a single tone should reach up to that ugly defind accurate tone ( check Lee Roi Jones book " Blues Peolpe " how african beauty is created ) that only shows that you are a square with no feelings at all, that´s blues people! They look so happy over this performance all of them!! You nailed again Keith, what a driving force you are!
Wooow what a beautiful song with The Rolling Stones And a fabulous duo with Mick Jagger and Lisa what's a good voice "Gimme Shelter" Oh Yeah that song rock !!!!!
Make it look so easy ! Beautiful guitar playing 💗💗 Lisa and Micks voices 👌 Stones so good as they love music and are musicians ! Hope Glastonbury appreciated it ?
Was right at the front of this gig, was like 10-20 feet away from jagger/richards when they walked to the front of the stage. I will never forget it, absolutely incredible.
Well if it gets any better than this I have never heard it. This band is 1 of the best ever and they are a couple of them lucky to still be here. lol Mick sounds as good as he did 45 years ago or maybe even better. Thanks to you guy's for the music, memories, and for sharing with the world your entertainment. LARRY REEVES U.S,. MARINE VIETNAM VET PROUD OF IT
Incredible! Old age is simply a state of mind. Good example of living life to the fullest, I'll also drag my old carcass to the fullest, until the end.
Les monstres le groupe de légende est là omggggggg Mick et Keith ont toujours la pêche respect chapeau bas quelle carrière phénoménale c'est toute ma jeunesse j'adore j'ai jamais eu le plaisir de les voir en live en concert quel dommage
I'm 54 , been listening to this all my life and the fact that RS played this before I was born and still do is one of the best things that happened to mankind..
And Ronny & Keith are beautifully played together, each complementing the other perfectly. A very mature, seasoned band; I’ve always been a “Stones man” for a reason..
Mercury and Townshend...I love the Stone but Keith is and has always been a mediocre guitarist...great songwriter but he can only do basic stuff on a guitar..the same goes for Ronnie
How good is that !!! I loooove Keith - he's seen it all & is now like a Grandsegnieur of Rock & Roll. I've always been a "Stones man", they are the cream of the crop !
Ik was born in 1962, and became a stonesfan 15 years later and till today I still am.I've heard a lot of different kinds of music in my life, it comes and goes and some of them stay with you for the rest of your life. Keith is for me the one and only Mr. Rock n Roll He's a legend, so he'll never dies.. Gimme shelter will be the last record, before I leave this world, that's for sure
Merci. encore..
100,000 people, mostly many years younger than the guys on stage, in total awe of a two hour performance of sheer excitement. If this whirlwind known to us as The Stones, accompanied by the sexy Lisa, singing Gimme Shelter, doesn't make you get up and dance, then it's time to check into a retirement home! Oh,and don't expect to see any of these guys there anytime soon! Fantastic version of probably their best song. Big respect to the all-time heavyweight music champions of the world.
Watching this video makes me proud to be a boomer. Heard it saw it lived it it's a shame future generations couldn't have the same experiences that we did
It's so amazing that (1) they're still ALL ALIVE, (2) they haven't lost a step, and (3) none of the band is handsome in any way, shape or form, and yet I'll bet if you asked a thousand women who's the sexiest rock band ever, at least half would say it's the Stones.
A lot of the feral has been processed out of music today. The Stones and old Zeppelin have that feral quality. They learned it from listening to old American blues artists. Rough edges, sexual swagger, mojo.
Mick selected Lisa to become part of the Stones backups and made her a star by featuring her on several songs with GS the standout. She is suppose to be blowing everyone away as it's her job and not competing with Mick.
Fist time I ever heard this was when the AA did an advert on the TV many years ago and played this with the ad.On first hearing it especially the opening chords the hairs just stood up. It just sounded so haunting. Was never a massive fan of the stones but this track is such a killer and to see and hear this at Glastonbury is nothing short of phenominal.
@@benbarclay5546 I always wondered how they could make so much with so little on the paper. And always asked myself why Charlie never learnt to play a little better. When you see the contemporary drummers... Gavin Harrison with Porcupine tree for exemple (well, nobody can play like Gavin, even the great drummers). Charlie looks like a beginner, stiff and handicapped.
This track and 'All along the watchtower ' , with the help of a joint , introduced me to the tastes of adulthood when I was 15 . I never listened to Kiss again .
Think the Stones did all their homework , for the English gigs , they were comming home and they wanted to sound good , and boy did they , crisp and clean , tight and right , sound better than they have for a while , I am so impressed , well done boys. can still send a shiver down my spine .
Rick Ocasic (The Cars) and Eddie Money both died this weekend. And Keith lives on. I saw him last month and he was fantastic, playing those riffs better than ever. I really loved the show, it was cathartic, and EXCITING! Mick Jagger was so charming before they started the acoustic set. He said "We'd loik to get a bit closah to you awl..." And they played, Country Honk, and others, and each song was a blessing. They did things to make sure everyone knew it wasn't back filled, lip syncing, or any such garbage, improvising and changing the lyrics. I hope they tour again.
2020 North American No Filter Tour kicks off in Cali in early May, and will rock through 15 cities. Tour wraps up in Atlanta just two weeks before Mick's 77th birthday! 🎸
Played this on their last stop On their 2019 tour.. Hardrock stadium Miami Fl Aug 31 2019. Just then the skies opened up pouring rain...Holy Shit..Irony or what..!!!
keith richards coolness can not be beaten. lisa fischer is an incredible singer... the connection between her and mick/keith is so great. what a legendary band!
Best live band since the beginning, 1960s, a show that makes you feel electricity all over. No one ever like Mick, no one who commanded your attention completely. Whatever, front man, lead singer and fucking electric artist, call him whatever. He’s the absolute best.
Always been a zeppelin/Sabbath man me ....but take my hat off to such a performance as this ...the stones .....they are what they are and you gotta love em ..........and God can that lady deliver .
I couldn't work in security at a Stones concert, how they can all stand with their backs to the greatest rock n roll band in the world is beyond me. So hard not to just turn around and watch. I would definitely be sacked, sod the crowd I would have the best seat in the place.
