The Rolling Stones - It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (From The Vault - LA Forum 1975)
Available Now: mercury-studio...
“From The Vault” is a new series of live concerts from The Rolling Stones archive which are getting their first official release. “L.A. Forum - Live In 1975” is the second title in this series. The Rolling Stones’ “Tour Of The Americas ‘75” was the band’s first tour with new guitarist Ronnie Wood. Even before the dates started there were dramatic scenes in New York City at the official tour announcement when the band unexpectedly turned up on a flatbed truck to play “Brown Sugar”. After a couple of low key warm-up shows in Louisiana the tour took in 44 dates between the 3rd June and the 8th August 1975. They settled into the L.A. Forum for a five night stint from July 9th to 13th and this concert film features the show from July 12th. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show.

The so-called "sloppy period" worked well for the decadent period of the 70s. Only those of us who lived that era understand. The Stones are unequaled.

@@benprudente8687 Zeppelin recorded 72 songs-many of which they lifted. Robert Plant stole from Steve Marriott-who page actually wanted first instead of Plant. Most Zep fans don't know that. Look up 'You Need LOvin" by the Small Faces. Pure stealing by Plant and Page. Could you imagine Zep doing Disco or funk like the Stones? No. The Stones recorded over 400 songs and were/are much more versatile. Also they have been around 60years. Zep 9 years.

I love how the stones could be the kings of rock ‘n’ roll and make it cool in the face of a whole lot of crap going on music wise in the 70s. They were banging it out, even this song is a perfect antidote to all the trade ridiculous garbage that was going on in the 70s. It’s only rock ‘n’ roll baby. The Great Billy Preston on keyboards for this historic tour. And Ronnie Wood had just joined the band from Rod Stewart. All Star Line up for sure. 1975 was a magical year. I graduated high school that year, 2 days after graduating I saw the great Peter Frampton, Frampton Comes Alive at Winterland, San Fran, then Saw the Stones live in July at the Cow Palace South San Fran, and a few months earlier saw Pink Floyd on April 12, 75 at the Cow Palace. Then saw Jethro Tull also summer of 75 at the Oakland Arena, Incredible show, Saw The Allman Brothers band on October 24, 75 at the Oakland Arena. Saw Zep two years later in summer 77. In between saw many more Bill Graham concerts in the Bay Area. Wow, Never again will any bands duplicate our 1970s rock bands and songs. 70s Rock and will live on forever. So glad I was lucky enough to go along for the ride in the 70s.

I will take 1994 to 1999 Stones over 75/75 stones anytime . Shows like Knebworth were dreadfull . Earls Court 76 and Paris 76 were really good for the era.

Given that this song originally arose from a jam , I think the looser/sloppier the better , for this tune which is why this is a superior live version . I don't think it's a tune that lends itself to being a tight song ( if that makes sense 😉) BTW You Guys and Gals in North America and Europe were so Blessed to see the Stones / Led Zep etc tours in the 1970s, as an Australian Stones Fan , I missed out on their only Australian tour 70s tour in 1973 as I was too young ( aged 11) and had to wait till their next Australian tour - 22 years later - Voodoo Lounge . However, they didn't disappoint when I saw them in 95 at both Sydney dates and saw shows at each of their 3 subsequent tours down under 👍👍🥁🎹🎸🎸

And now Mick Taylor is gone and Good Time Ronnie is in, and it shows. They sound and look like smelly skunk shit here. Not all Ronnie's fault tho, Keith is only participating when he remembers he's on stage and playing. And Mick looks like he's done and just going through the motions.

The "band" sounds great... Mick is a mess, but I really think that is what he wanted... The clothes, the make-up all match Mick's presentation .. I think later on, when he wasn't abusing cocaine like he was here, his performance got MUCH better..

The stones are just simply a cut above the rest 🎉. Their music abilities are far beyond amazing 🎉🎉. Mick and the boys are always reinventing themselves and that's what makes them who they are the Rolling Stones 🎉🎉

I am looking for the concert when they were at the LSU Baton Rouge campus auditorium in 1975. So when Mike came out and danced around that famous balloon that looked like a large condom and the crowd went wild you would figure it would be a hit?? Didn't they make this video or were they afraid you tube would censor it? What was more interesting was after the police was 5 or so feet away the smokes started lighting up and 20 minutes into the show the entire ceiling was full of smoke and I admit I and my friend did out share to add to that ceiling smoke. It would be nice if I could see that program again while I still have the memory of their act???

I'd love to say "sing it, Mick", but he isn't singing it --- he's saying it. It's embarrassing. Especially when he sings......ehr, uhm, says, "I like it".

I didn't much care for his vocals in 1975. He wasn't singing you're right. The best versions of this song are Love You Live and the bubble video and the studio version. The rest are too slow. This version is too slow.
