Thank you for reacting to this song. I'm 64 years old, so I've been digging the Stones for many years. They have such a huge musical catalogue, with so many hits over their 50 plus year musical career. I think this has to be either my favorite, or second favorite Stones song. "Dead Flowers" may be number1, but this is such an iconic song. Thank you both again God Bless
I love your knowledge of the music and scholarship which is refreshing in a sea of "first time" reactors. I appreciate their naiveté and enthusiasm as well, but it's nice to hear someone who actually knows the songs, the individual performers, the instruments and some of their history.
In retrospect, Jagger moves like a spaz. Check out the duet with David Bowie on "Dancing In The Streets". Mick was lost. He kept watching Bowie to see what to do.
The live versions with Mick Taylor from 1972 and 73 are on a whole other level. The DVD Ladies & Gentleman....The Rolling Stones is fantastic. That was from the 72 tour. The Brussels Affair which was just re released with the Deluxe Edition of Goats Head Soup is easily their greatest performance put to tape. The All Down The Line, Gimme Shelter, Dancing With Mr.D and Midnight Rambler performances are straight fire. The cocaine must have been top notch because they were flying.
That project got shelved for nearly 30 years because the group felt their performance wasn't up to the same standard as The Who's 'A Quick One (While He's Away)' since that group had just come off touring and were in top shape. THAT is a performance you should react to.
@@NickiTwix I think it's more of a question of which version should you hear first. If you didn't like the original version, you probably would not have heard the live version.
Howdy Mama Moon! Hello Mojo! "Rock 'N' Roll Circus" is also notable for an appearance by Jethro Tull with Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi filling in on guitar for the recently-departed Mick Abrahams. Whether in a TV studio or a sports stadium, Mick Jagger's charisma and connection to his audience always shines through.
All the reaction videos I've seen to this song have been to this live version. But it doesn't come close to the original recording. This is one song you have to hear the original on to really understand its brilliance.
Brian Jones also produced an album of Moroccan music called "The Pipes of Djoujouka". The band Psychic TV did a song called "Godstar". The lead singer met Brian Jones when he was a teenager. The song perpetuates the theory that Jagger and Richards hired someone to have Brian Jones killed. I love this song, here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s1yr8w_vZ5E.html
Hey y'all. First criticism ever. I'm a 'live' dude. The singular beauty & magic of musicians jamming or improvisation has taken me across many continents. If I take one album to listen on an island, it'll be some legendary live show like Allman Brothers at Filmore East because a song does not have to sound like the original for me to like it. I appreciate changes, new arrangements, etc. Buuuut the beauty of this Stones song for me is the first 70secs of the album version. The children's choir, then the soft haunting horn, accoustic strum, then horn, the slow deliberate pacing and phrasing of Jaggers voice... It always give me chills. Not hearing it is like listening to Hotel California without that guitar solo. 🖖🍻
Why are all of your videos not in sync with the vocals and music? You are very talented in having the singer mouthing the song while he is ahead or behind the actual sound. Pitiful. Fix it.
