Credited with one of the smoothest cue actions in the game of snooker, Stephen Lee has cued many shots to perfection, making them look effortless in the process. Here are a few of these shots. (Music - The xx Intro)
Had the great pleasure of meeting and watching Stephen perform exhibition matches at my Snooker club last night. What an awesome dude and he's still got it!
@@RetroTekGuyAU Nonsense! he will be free to enter Q-School in 2025 and if he wins will get a 2 year card. Personally I doubt he will try but the idea that anyone could, or would even want to, prevent him is absurd.
@@CricketEngland is it? Well at least I don't use favouritism to get my way. Stephen Lee and John Higgins did the same thing, Stephen's banished and John has made it consecutively to the world final
@@UnknownUser-kp4nb They didn't do the same thing. Higgins went along with a potential sting but didnt actually do it, Lee threw several frames which would change the outcome of lots of matches.
Cracking player despite what he did. Everyone makes mistakes in life, so who are we to judge. One of the smoothest cue actions in the sport this man displayed 👌
I feel for lee, all the effort growing up, creating that talent and having that pure delivery of a cue only to be taken advantage of because a 100 year sport pays peanuts to its 16 and below ranked players. 6 Chinese players suspended says it all, its a big input for little reward and temptation will make anyone think twice.
WOW ! Never seen shots like that before off anyone ! Don’t think there even playable most of these shots unless Stephen takes them himself!! WOW ! Come back Stephen Lee ! Your ban is nearly over so your still young. Amazing shots in this video , watched over and over again brilliant!!
Every time i see any footage of this amazing snooker player all i can think of is how Higgins got away with nothing, even though he was caught red handed to be having an involvement in match betting/fixing. Stephen Lee got years, way to over the top and harsh, practically ending his career.
John Higgins feared for his life as off camera mob members had loaded guns in hand. He played it cool and went along with the match fixing to avoid conflict. He immediately reported what had happened after the event.
@@ronnyron7710 yes that must of been a terrible ordeal for him and his family. I still believe that the 12 yr ban is too strong, they knew by doing that they'll be ending his career. But i guess it stands as good example of what happens if you cheat.
@@mariosavva999 Completely agree 12 years is very strong ! I believe Bingham got 6 months for a similar stint. At the same time though, Steven knew what he faced should he be caught out .
Let's just all be honest here: Stephen Lee is a bit of a wally and possibly of questionable integrity, but his cue action is one of the God-given sporting talents, its absolutely beautiful and we all know it, get the daft bugger back in the game because we love to watch this level of ability
The greatest cue action ever. It’s a shame what he did and the ban of 12 years was too long. Especially when you consider John Higgins only missed 6 months while his match fixing case was looked into. He was caught on video agreeing to fix matches but got away with it. The only reason why is because he was a bigger draw to world snooker and Hearn didn’t want to let him go. It’s all about the money.
James Going obviously a big John Higgins fan, also Scottish I should imagine. They were not different at all. Both cheated and agreed to throw matches, but both were treated very differently.
Again wot you know about snooker cud be wrote on the back of a stamp..... I'm not a fabn of Higgins I'm a huge Ronnie and snooker fan no time for cheats or for people who have no idea wot there talking about
James Going I’m guessing your a young kid? You’ve got no argument here and seem to troll people just to insult them. I’ll happily have a discussion with you about the topic in question but for you to say I know nothing about snooker when you don’t know me is very childlike. Feel free to respond with whatever childish comment you like about my knowledge of the game but I stick by my original post.
lolz.....stephen is such good player he could have won a lot of money playing legit...he should have asked for help if he was in money trouble...loads of fellow players im sure would have helped..no excuse for cheating as thats what it is...he cheated other players out of a legit game.\win for a few quid.....when caught he probably lost much more £££ than he won with the betting scam
Staying still as solid & long back swing & pause & great Timing & long follow through with elbow drop in deep screw back shots = this is Stephen Lee .. despite of having excess weight but he does those things perfectly ✌👍 I wish he comes back ..
Exactly. Higgins said he said yes to everything because he was scared to say no to the russian mafia. Yeah right that bitch lying threw his teeth he saw the money that's why he said yes, you can see the happiness on his face seeing the money he would make cheating he was not scared at all
I miss him as he was an entertaining player who played very well and had amazing control of the white. I don’t care about anything alleged to have been done I just want you back to entertain us all again 👍👍
Been a few snooker players caught cheating in one way or another , but I think what happened to Stephen Lee was a little harsh . Getting a 12 year ban. He was a top player.
Stephen Lee is serving a 12 year Ban for match fixing 7 games, two of which were UK championship, 2 in Malta and One in the Worlds. Judged by his peers Willie Thorne at the time said that effectively Lee is serving a lifetime ban as he would be 50 yrs old by the time he had completed his ban in 2024. He is unlikely to be able to compete on the circuit at that age, for which he has to pay $40k to be readmitted on to the circuit. By then he could have an opportunity to join the Seniors Tours but even that would be unlikely as it required Lee to reapply for a professional snooker card. Unlike Lee, John Higgins on the other hand successfully defended his "charges of match fixing" and was handed a slap on the wrist "six month" ban. A sad end for such a talented and amazing player - the big question is why did he do it? The public, including his fans have been robbed of seeing him play and will likely never see him again. Very Sad.
American pool player here but I still to some degree watch snooker matches since I enjoy them so much. I do know that the snooker cue ball is somewhat smaller than what I play with and that makes it easier to move it around comparatively speaking. But the things this guy does is other worldly and a true joy to watch. I guess he was banned for fixing matches which is such a shame. Even if he comes back after his absence he will be older and weaker so we will have missed so many unbelievable shots that he would have made.
lets hope so. the length of ban was a disgrace. snooker needs players like stephen. just so exciting when he was on form, and nobody struck the ball like him.
Lee would have to enter - and win - Q School in May 2025 to qualify as a pro again. He also has to pay the fines and costs of £125,000 which he apparently still owes. Don't think he'll be back!
Even though he doesn’t play in tournaments anymore, he still made it as a top snooker player. Most people don’t make it to the top in anything. Fair dues to him
I totally agree!!! I watch a lot of snooker and there may be better players but nobody can do what this man can with the cueball.... Absolutely brilliant to watch... Trump and Robertson are good and Jimmy White was in his younger day spectacular but this guy is on a whole different level.... could watch it all day
@3:40 Many players try that side screw for position or exhibition but the way Stephen played is just a unique charm. You can't stop watching it again and again.
He pulled off some amazing shots. It’s such a pity that he fell foul of people only interested in greed and he went along with it. He could have been a world champion
Stephen Lee was a favourite of mine, I'd greed get to him? What a talent wasted. RIP the beautiful Paul Hunter he was taken from us far, far to soon. I'd like to add Jimmy White to the list of should haves though. Saying that though, Jimmy has the accolade of being the greatest to never win it. Six times finalist.
@@jamesheyworth3566 hence why hendry won 7 World titles playing a pissed up Jimmy White 👎👎no challenge no competition poor standard and era for snooker......
@@CricketEngland Barry hearne half of reason alex higgins died hearne rinses people for the money he is not arsed who wins he is rich that's all that matters he didn't care about Steve Davis or anyone infact total evil man
@@Yessnowwwww what utter bollocks here took snooker to,places it had never been and make it the most popular sport in the 80 and his match room players house hold names With out Hearn snooker would not be what it is today
@@CricketEngland Hearn wasn't the reason for the snooker boom in the 80's, Alex Higgins and other players were. Hearn just took the money. He managed players, he didn't necessarily promote the game. He has done better work since. He was at the right place at the right time in the 80's.
What a terrific talent. Pretty sure he’s allowed to come back now? I’d be a supporter for sure if he came back I’m sure he’s learned his lesson even if he was guilty. None of us are the same person we were when we were younger and more impulsive. I’d love to see this man still striking
He should of started playing English pool, not quite the same money but a man of his talent I'm sure he could win a fair amount, take the supreme pool series for example, 1st place prize was around £50k in the first event.
Hate him all you want for match-fixing, he was still arguably one of the best cueist the game has ever seen. Unbelievable amount of talent and would go for shots many other professionals would.
It is a shame that we will never know the truth, but in my opinion he was thrown to the wolves to protect bigger cheats. But as I say just my opinion, what a player though.
I love Lee and his talent was obvious...but he wasn't really a match player (as evidenced by his weak performances at the World's and the UK). There's more to snooker than just potting. He _might_ have won one world but even so I doubt that.
@@adrianwright8685 ahh rite I see where you are coming from now. Lee could play flawless snooker at times. Consistency let him down I think it’s similar to Martin Gould. He plays some ridiculous snooker at times but I’ve never seen him in a major tournament semi or final
