Jerash is the Roman city you have never heard of. Nicknamed Pompeii of the east, Jerash is the most well preserved Roman city outside of Italy. Located just an hours drive outside of Amman, Jerash is a must while in Jordan.

Hello Nathan and Amber! It was so interesting to follow your trip in Jordan. I feel super nostalgic watching, since I grew up there. Now living in Stockholm. During Roman times. Amman used to be called Philadelphia. Which is the original name of Amman and where the American city got it's name from. Every year. There is a huge festival with music and food in Jerash (Decapolis in roman times). I don't remember exactly when it is.. But if you visit Jerash that is a good time to visit it. Also. Besides Amman, Madaba, Dead Sea, and Mount Nebo. Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba are a must see when in Jordan. Also the old ruins of Azraq and Kerak are great places to see.

Did an outstanding job, Nathan!! Felt for Amber for having to take a 5 hour bus ride, go to the airport and take a 2 hour flight. Had to be brutal. The ruins were fantastic, thank you for the information on the Jordan Pass. I want to go Morocco and Tunisia for the Roman ruins. It will be hard for my wife to get me out of Roman amphitheater once I get in one.

Thank you! Amber is a trooper. I would have complained and been way more of a pain than she was. I think the worse part for her was standing there while 5 security guards went through all of our bags and questioned me for 20 minutes about my drone. I want to go to Tunisia so bad! Ancient Carthage is totally on my bucket list! Morocco too. Hopefully one day you can make it happen.

If that is the temple of Artemis, how can this be a "roman city"😉? Artenis was a greek godess. Her roman equivalent was Diana. This just to point out the falsity of the mainstream history. The real world history is in the serie of which I also posted a few episodes at my account here, as many other truth seekers.
@SOSASATSUNRISE
@SOSASATSUNRISE Год назад
The Artemis Temple in Jerash is a goddess that was the deity of the city of Jerash . Not the same Greek goddess of Artemis or the Roman goddess Diana. You can see what is left of the Temple of Artemis in present day Selcuk, Turkey, which we also visited. Check out our series on Turkey if you love history!
@David.Guia_EUROPOL.TheHague
@@SOSASATSUNRISE I don't know where do you take this desinformation from. There was only ONE goddes Artemis. The roman empire was mainly greek, as their official language until end of first century AD, when Latin gained the leadership. Anatolia was also invaded and massa cred by the greeks, since 2-nd millenium BC (when Troy fell also), later they did the same with Anatolia, but then as "roman empire". I don't know what kind of "history" did you learned and where, but you are totally disinformed, like any "history" turist. The whole real world history is documented in the "Noi Arianii Daci" serie. "If you love history"😉.
@David.Guia_EUROPOL.TheHague
The Scythians built this city.

Each group that inhabited Jerash left their mark in one way or another. It was a Roman city but also a Greek city and a Byzantine before that. Such a cool mixture of culture which adds to the amazing history of the area!

Romans came later. Greeks, dedicated to goddess,Artemis,how can it be roman? Buld by greeks and only Greeks,get it, right and straight
@SOSASATSUNRISE
@SOSASATSUNRISE Год назад
Each empire that came through left their mark. Greeks built temples. Romans built Hadrians Arch, the circuit and theatres. Byzantines built a bascillica and made changes to existing buildings. It may be considered a Roman city because Jerash was brought to its golden age by the Romans. Although the city may not be 100% Roman, it is not only Greek either. Also, the diety Artemis in Jerash is a hellenistic interpretation of a local diety. Built by the Romans, the Temple of Artemis is not dedicated to either a Roman or Greek goddess but the local diety of Jerash.
