Here is a quick demo (both feet) of Ronaldinho's signature scissors skill. Slowed down to give the basic movement pattern, using a cone to give some idea of a defender's distance necessary to perform the movement.
Obviously opponent distance, ball carry speed, surrounding and frontal space elements will effect everything you do on the pitch, and therefore, will change the style of this trick. Just take this as a brief visual understanding of the purpose of this scissors (ultimately to off-balance and feint the defender).
